I think Obsidian + Espanso is about to energize my life in a way that I wasn't even looking for. I'm so excited, both for the improvement in my own information management mechanism, as well as for it's potential utility for solo RPG, which I've not gotten into yet but am looking at intently! I've shared your video with a few friends too! Thanks mate!
Great stuff here. I prefer the plastic dice and paper one sheets with all the stuff on it but this is a nice method for those who play on laptops. I’ll check out the program though, thanks for posting. Also, love the terrain book.
I use Fantasy Grounds Unity. It is a payed solution, but it is such a great tool allowing you to not only play online, but also put your custom content of stories, images, logics, ... You can create random tables and use those inside templates or even in lua scripts.
RPG Tips is looking good! Went from an older video to this one and the improvement is markedly noticeable. Smoother and more confident delivery and doing the video without glasses is great as the need to constantly adjust them when looking down and then back at the camera in earlier videos was a minor thing but was distracting. Not only is it a better viewing experience, but also as this channel's videos tend to be packed with information the more smooth conversational style makes absorbing that information easier. RPG Tips' maturing and improving as a content creator over time is going great
This is an awesome video. You’ve really got some great stuff going on. I just use Pages on the iPad until it get a bit unmanageable then migrate the game over to OneNote. That seems to work for me as I like Old School manual dice rolling but I do need to flick to oracles/PDFs regularly. Thank you for sharing your process.
Thanks for this. Hadn't heard of obsidian before, but this is exactly the kind of tool I have been looking for since I started getting into worldbuilding. Maps feature looks amazing too; probably going to be getting a lot of use out of this.
Interesting! I've pretty much always used Excel/Google Sheets to keep track of things. I just modified the sheet I use for GMing to incorporate Mythic. I like rolling dice too much to digitalize it :p.
@@RPGTips Oh for sure. I've got a whole separate system on my phone. Adventure Smith, One page Solo Engine and RPG Simple Dice have totally replaced moble video games for me.
I've been trying to get my first solo rpg set up for months now, and I think Obsidian and Espanso will finely get me there. Do you know anywhere I can find generic solo play templates for Obsidian?
Interesting approach but for me it is not as easy as it sounds. Because yes, you don't have to write Javascripts for Obsidian, but you have to write R scripts to be called by Obsidian and Espanso. For it seems like only a shift to another programming language or am I getting it wrong?
It's a shift to any programming language you already know, without having to invest in any platform, your scripts can go with you to any tool you want.
@@philippkowalski1105 For that case, if you're interested in this workflow, I recommend checking out the Mythic discord server, on my personal channel I'm helping people with it, and I'm happy to write out detailed guides if needed.

This software combination is really amazing. Fantastic video, thanks so much for this.
Wow! what an impressive improvement! Thanks for sharing.
Loved it, I'm a sucker for neat note tools and I suspect this will be my next obsession. Great great video.
Excellent job! Very creative, and the results are fantastic! Bravo!
Thanks for giving me another tool to buy! Oh wait.. free free free! Thanks for showing these off!

Thank you for letting us know about your workflow. I really like it and am already downloading Obsidian. Looks dope

I need that 5e formatting. Where do I get it?

This is definitely going to be my go to from now on!

I also like rolling dice! For most days, though, having a complete digital solution is invaluable.

Thanks for highlighting obsidian it’s such great software. What do you recommend as a alternate to expanso that I can use on my iPad?
Hello Matthew, I don’t know any right now. Previously I used Cardwarden for card based oracles, but nothing comes close to espanso, sadly.
Nice video man
So where is the source code for the espanso text expander?

If you drop by the Mythic Discord server I can share mine!
Check out Zen Fantasy from Better Games and Epic Table videos from George Rahm. Some great Solo and Group Play. I like the 2 Page Format.
What font is that?

@@RPGTips yep, you're right. My comment was a little bit misleading, I was focusing on people like myself who do not know any programming language.
