    I've started playing Lost Mines of Phandelver solo with 1 PC (me) and 3 NPCs in my party. So far Mythic altered scenes that have contributed to the narrative threads giving the story more depth. Totally possible to run a module with Mythic as long as the GM (me) doesn't allow the threads to differ from those defined in the module and character backgrounds. Allow Mythic to contribute and randomize how the story plays out but dont allow Mythic to change the story threads

      I preparing to solo that one too! I plan on tying it to Icepeak, from the Essentials Box too, once I'm done with Phandelver. I'm new to both Soloing, and 5E (Coming from Pathfinder 1E), so I don't even have the Player's Handbook yet (but luckily my Essentials box came with a 50% off code for it 😄), so I'm using Pathfinder classes for my PC, and and 5E classes for my NPCs, so I can learn those. I'm happily surprised how easily the two systems talk to one another! I highly recommend checking out both systems. My understanding between them, is that 5E is more "Cinematic" in that thresholds are usually smaller, so things (like hits) happen more often; while Pathfinder 1E is more "Gritty" in that thresholds are higher so things happen less often. What is everyone else's perception of the difference between the two?

    Hey there, i realize, that this video has been out for some time, but i wanted to let you know, that me and my brother really appreciate what you did here. We are both the eternal DM´s for our groups, and we rarely get a chance to play together, even then, one of us is usually the DM. So we beasically used your suggestions to start a campaign with just the two of us. So far, it worked great. Started somewhat slow, but the second session was an adventure i had written myself, and even i was surprised how it turned out. Next will be a published adventure, and we are both eager to see how it turn out. Were both sure it will be fun though, so big thanks to you!

    I can't remember if I've ever commented on one of your videos or not, but you are my God. I discovered Mythic and the single player game through your videos and a whole new world opened up for me.
    Thank you and, above all, don't stop...

    I've been debating playing Basic Fantasy RPG with an emulator like Mythic, but I'm not too sure how to go about it. So here I am. Wonderful video. 🙂
    I'm going to begin using this solo roleplaying method with the lesser detailed Basic Fantasy adventures (specifically the first Adventure Anthology). 🙂
    I'll also take a look at your adventure too.

    Really enjoying your videos! I never knew there were so many solo rpg resources available until very recently. I found the way I enjoy playing solo the most is when I play the role of the DM and I use GME and UNE to randomize the PC party behavior. It is so much fun trying to TPK them and things go off the rails often, just like when DMing real players. I plan on playing every published adventure this way.

    • @RPGTips
      @RPGTips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! Well, we are a small community but we like to talk about it :) Lucky you if you enjoy player emulation, you don't need to use my method to randomize adventures then! As the surprise is going to come from their behavior instead of from the story itself.

    Me and a couple of friends are going to play curse of strahd with mythic gme (we did it with me as dm and them as players with a sidekick each, but one of them had low intelligence and played accordingly, and basically doomed them to die in their second session in the death house (against the armors; it was glorious)). I'll be sure to share this with them so we can give it a go. Thank you for sharing your work with the world 👌

    Hello! First of all I apologize because my English is not very good: in fact I am also Spanish :) I just found your channel and I am devouring it whole. I really like your approach to commercial adventures. I thought they couldn't be played, or that they wouldn't be very interesting. Your system allows it and it looks very promising. I would like to point out a game, "Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine". You may be interested because the creation of characters in't related to skills o atributes, but it consists of imposing to each character between 1 and 4 quests. The quests are projects of things that you want to see happen to that character, and they are made up of events related to the theme of the quest. ¡That looks a lot like the breakdown you make of commercial adventure scenes!

    Great video. I've been developing a method to play Call of Cthulhu/mystery games solo. I'm feeling pretty good about the playtests, but I was just thinking about how great it would be if I could solo a module without losing the surprises. I pretty much gave up on the idea, but now I'm going to revisit it with this information. Thanks.

    Hi there, Thank you for sharing this fantastic video... I've gone through numerous solo toolkits to play prepared adventures, but your system with mythic is the best because it adds the right amount of surprise and plot twists. Thanks again. Any chance you can share your ruleset and example as a word doc or pdf for easier printing. Many thanks

    I love this video and your approach. One question I could not get my head around is this: in a lot of prewritten adventures (at least in my fav system) there is GM info. I read it and of course, now I - the player, not the character - have the curse of knowledge. How do you deal with this? Do you try to solve this with questions using the Mythic approach? But how then do you make sure that your questions are not biased? Would love to hear your insights on this. Please keep on making these awesome videos.

    • @RPGTips
      @RPGTips  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks a lot! Indeed, it's tricky. I think it boils down to two things: 1. playing solo we are forced to be a bit of player and a bit of gm, and it's something we must accept, so that bias is... well, it comes with the trade, I guess. 2. Yeah, I think that Mythic and the warp check are the ones that are supposed to bring the surprise. Even if you think something is how the book says, you can never be too sure of it, because Mythic may throw something out the window at any moment, so, when I've played with it, I was always assuming that all could change... well, because it could. If you take a look at the video I have in which I go over a small module using this method, it was altered quite a lot, with several plot twists, but still keeping the overall structure of the module. Nevertheless, if you want to discuss more about this, come by the Discord! We'll be happy to welcome you and talk about solo gaming philosophy :)

      @@RPGTips ok understood. So one basically uses mythic to randomize along the way. I'll also play test it eventually with an entry adventure soon, after getting in the flow with Mythic and my rpg system (The Dark Eye). Thank you for your insights and I joined the Discord Server :)

    Creative idea, but quite complex. But then I find Mythic GME overly complex 😅. I suppose I have the benefit of lots of pre-written adventures that I have not read yet. I just read the GM content section by section as I play to avoid spoilers. It’s worked out ok so far 😊.

  • @thor7af3
    @thor7af3 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Is the warp check meant to completely replace the chaos factor? Or are you only using the warp factor wherever you encounter a story element? And continue to use chaos factor outside these events?

      Hola Camilo!

    I liked and subbed, but then I saw the 4e books, and I disliked and unsubbed... But then I realized you're not subjecting anyone else to them and liked and subbed again.
    Keep up the good work.
