My dad was 59 when diagnosed and died 6 months after. I saw what pancreatic cancer does to people, what it did to my dad and I can't stop crying..Will be soon 2 years.

Patrick was an awesome man. He is greatly missed. I so understand your journey. I went through the same thing with my husband. He wanted to be home to pass. He passed 2/22/2020. I still have moments after a year and a half where I feel lost. Prayers for you.

I've just watched Roadhouse for approximately the 498th time. Seeing Patrick in his adonis like prime, he was a truly beautiful man and a beautiful human being. The world is a dimmer place with his light shining upon it. RIP Patrick.

She is such a brave woman. She stuck with him through the good, bad and the ugly. She is right how he was fearless and was never afraid to try anything. He was so handsome, awesome actor and a wonderful husband. Her and Patricks's DVD before his passing they were going to have a baby and she was pregnant but lost the baby and never tried again and they were both devastated. They were team and a strong couple and fought the devil. She is such an amazing woman after 4 years after his passing.

My husband lost his battle with this deadly beast 6 months ago and he faught it from November 2012. And just like Patrick they gave him 6 months but he was never going to give and he faught all the way to his last breathe. He was and always will be the love of my life'
So 30+ years of marriage isn't enough? She doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. She deserves to be happy. Whether she found love love one year of three after his death, that doesn't diminish what they had in any way, shape or form. They spent a lifetime together...how many couples get divorce within the first few years of their marriage, if they make it that far? They were a beautiful couple, but I'm sure he would want her to be happy; if you really love someone, you want them to be happy..so good for her. I adore Patrick Swayze. He was an amazing actor and multitalented too.

I had spent a weekend with my cousin & he was totally fine. A mo later he told me he was just diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer, I was WHAT⁉️⁉️ Well 3 mo later he was gone. Pancreatic cancer is a bad one. All cancer is but boy oh boy it takes u out fast. I guess its because its a silent cancer. By the time u r diagnosed its far advanced. My cousin had just turned 60. He was one of the kindest person u could ever know. I sure miss him💔

Well done, Lisa. You have said that Patrick encouraged you to be the best version of yourself that you could be. So it's clear that he would not have wanted you to collapse and disappear into yourself after his passing. He would have known that your CONTINUING to become the best version of yourself possible - would be a much better legacy of what the two of you had - than that his passing would have diminished you to the vanishing point.
Bless you for your courage in sharing that with all of us. The day may come when any one of us may need to reach for that same state of grace and graciousness that you both have shown can lift us above. It doesn't change the outcome - but it changes how we get there . . . And that can't be a bad thing.

My Dad and Sister Died from Cancer, Meryleen had Pancreatic Cancer, it was the most heart breaking thing, she had money and wanted a new Couch and Chair I told her it's your money get what you want, after they were delivered she said I finally have what I want and i'm not going to be here to enjoy it, it was terrible Patric got around much better than she did, Lisa has been through the mill, I see people judging her for selling his things , where is it written she should live in a Shrine for the rest of her life? it's her things he's never going to use them it's painful to have those things as a constant reminder he lived and he is gone, so let her do it her way, she found someone to care about and share the rest of her life with, it will never be the same but it's what she needs for now, sorry for her loss

It’s horrendous! This disgusting, insidious disease robbing us of our loved ones. Watching as they remain optimistic whilst, before your eyes, wasting away. Praying to God to save them. Offering your own life in return. A feeling of helplessness. A desperation so deep of not to let go.
Finally, your prayers revert from “let him live” to “please God take him home. No more suffering. No more pain. Please, take him home”.
The pain the emptiness and sorrow leaves a broken heart.
We travel through the remainder of our lives with wonderful memories in store.
We think of our loved one day after day, amidst smiles and tears galore.
However, we know that there shall come a time when, once more we shall stand side by side. For there in the glory of heaven, is our loved one, arms opened wide.
No more pain or sorrow . No more suffering. Just love and peace with the one you love. Together in God’s holiness.

You truly know the pain of this horrible disease and cancers of any kind. You describe what truly happens. You should of written the book at least it wiuld of been honest not from reading others and trying to write from there.
Patrick most likely told her to "move on" and be happy. There is nothing wrong with her finding love again. She is honoring his wishes and his memory. Everyone who is dissing her because of her new life should get real and stop tossing hate into her direction. Mind your own life choices and dont worry about what someone else is up to. Get a life and keep it real people. For those who are defending her, you understand. Life is too short to be so passionate against good things like love and finding it.....whatever the reason. Beautifully said...it is clear how deeply she loved Patrick Swayze 37 years together even if she remarries she will never forget or lose the love she had for him...and I am sure he wouldn't want her to be lonely and would be happy to know she's found someone to share life with and not be sad...life is too short. I am a cancer survivor so think all she's said here is so true and she's given a voice to those out there who haven't a voice to explain what it really is like to go through it. Chemo is awful it is hell on wheels...people seriously need to stop disrespecting this lovely woman...it's clear the pain is still raw!
I think if she had loved him for real, after 34 years, married to him, and she has lost him the sad way she lost him, she would not think of marrying again with so happiness "She said in an interview, when she became engaged, that she was too excited to be back in a married woman !! I think she missed most of the marriage than him!
I totally agree with you . Everyone says "oh she deserves to find happiness and its up to her etc etc" and yes all that is true. But it was so shocking that she could move on so fast. she is obviously just built from different stuff to most people and is a very tough woman. I would wear my widows weeds forever, if id been married to Patrick and would just thank god for the years of happiness that I did have, and not go out searching for more happiness - as it tarnishes the memory of her husband

I guess I have a problem because I don't believe "blood is thicker than water". A family is what you make, who you choose to surround yourself with, not what you are born into. I was born into a "family" with secrets and denials, of supporters of a monster and those who ostracized a victim to the point that she walked away from all of them. Me, I did. I wouldn't stand with many of them. I believe you make your family as you go along in life. I have more family than I have blood relatives. And that is the healthiest option for me.

This is very hard to hear the sadness in your voice Lisa. I lost my husband 11 months ago, 8 months after diagnosis. I was lucky that we worked together in our own business, but he didn’t dance. I miss his face and silly sense of humour. I don’t like thinking of each day to come without him. It’s hard ....

In 1975 my dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was given 6 months.
He lasted 6 months..
In those days they were just starting to use chemo. Amazing I was told to put it in his orange juice! He had no radiation and no surgery.
Sadly this cancer, out of all the cancers, has seen little progress.
Not major advances like breast cancer.

I lost my partner from lung cancer (a non small cell cancer). It was so aggressive that he died within the first year. Listening to LIsa speak is painful: clearly she is not comfortable with public speaking but primarily because it is extremely painful to watch someone you love, die day by day and that is very evident in her voice. If I could give her one piece of advice, it would be to put it all behind her and get on with the business of living.
Her new life Lisa knows she won't love anyone like she loved Patrick but she doesn't want to be lonely bear in mind with both their careers they didn't have children everyone needs someone a companion Lisa probably thought no it won't happen you don't know in the spirit realm Patrick may have guided her to someone ❤️
She chose to not have or adopt kids she had her horses and she even got rid of them so...I don't feel sorry for herat all I feel sorry for Patrick for what she put him through esp during his last two years. She is cold hearted and abusive

I would love to talk to you Lisa. I went through this a few years after you lost Patrick. I lost my husband. My husband was born in 1951 and I was born in 1957. We are very close in age and have experienced many of the same things through death and grief. I enjoyed your book and also the one you and Patrick wrote. I enjoyed your speech here also. Thank you for how you talk about grief. You are right, no one ever told us how bad dealing with grief would be. I can only say prayer has gotten me through the long days and nights. God bless you.
Patrick loved lisa that's why spent 34 years 2 gether there love was real pain both went through why shouldnt lisa remarry dont troll her she was amazing so strong Patrick figured dirty cancer but we all know cancer wins it's a dirty decease so proud of her and Patrick Patrick died 14th September 2009 I will always remember that day I spent weeks in coma hypoxia spent months in rehab should been a great day getting out hospital which it was but a sad day cause Patrick died so I will always remember that day also mj died while in there both my legends RIP buddies xx

One thing I'm sure of is Patrick loved her and he'd be very disgusted with anyone treating her poorly. He'd want her healthy, happy and treated with respect.

My mother had breast cancer. She decided on having a full radical mastectomy of both breasts, even though the cancer was initially found only in the right breast. To her horror, after surgery, the doctors discovered the left breast full of cancer they had not seen.
Afterwards, my mother went through months of full rounds of chemo and radiation therapies. They wore on her badly. But after dealing with all of that, she thankfully went into remission for 18 blissful years.
Then it returned.
The cancer came back with a vengeance. It metasticed (sic) into her bones and stole her from me less than a year later. Yet, one positive thing through all of this horrible war raging in her body, was that she never lost her hair. She kept her soft, chestnut brown hair until her body could fight no more.
That meant so much. A woman's hair is her crowning glory. My mother fought so long and so hard to survive. The thought of her losing her hair too, would have just been too much.
You don't see what cancer is doing to you inside your body. But seeing yourself in the mirror, no longer having the hair that was one of your best features? That might have broken her, emotionally.
It's hard to put any kind of positive spin on cancer, especially when it's terminal. But if you look really hard for any kind of blessing, that blessing gives you strength. My mom, being one of the rare ones able to keep a full head of hair, found a blessing in that. And for that, I too am grateful. 🙏🏻

This woman is a disgrace. First there are the well known stories of abuse, both when he was sick and throughout their marriage. Stories substantiated by his brother, caretakers and house staff. Then there are the stories of infidelity, on her part alone. In fact many close to Patrick told him that due to his popularity he could easily pay her back. Yet he refused to. Then the selling off of most of his personal possessions. Last but not least the sale of his beloved ranch and horses. Now I understand people deal with grief differently but this ranch was the one that Patrick's ashes were spread on. Pitiful. Karma is a bitch and her time will come.

I have to say I was very surprised when I heard that she was dating a guy and real happy. I thought that since they had been together for so long and in love, that she wouldn't want anyone else after Patrick's death. Or at least it be a long time before she would be ready or want that. Robert Urich's wife never dated again and Bobby Kennedy's wife never did and so many more. They have said that their love was too good to ever marry anyone else. I thought that this was how these two were.

Thank you lisa. My husband also died from pancreatic cancer in sept. Of 2013. We had been married 35 years. He was loosing muscle and couldn't get diagnosed and so he made me go on a wonderful vacation to DC for a week. We got back and he was finally diagnosed and was gone 5 months later. He too worked almost until the end and yes it was beautiful and oh so intimate! He died with a smile on his face. He used to say if you die first I'm going to get you stuffed and put you in the corner. I would smile and say nobody puts baby in the corner and then we would have a beautiful roll in the hay! I am sorry for your loss you truly seem to still be in pain i am glad you were there for each other and that you have wonderful life with each other and memories of those. Please do not Lisa speak for you she is a bald face liar who is using Patrick to this day to make money off of him her new husband wants more money and they can continue the abuse she put him through esp during the last few years. It is not heartbraking, what is heartbraking is that she sold everything he ever worked hard for ! And she got the nerve to stand up there lecturing other people about cancer and relationship ..just to get some attention..a clown if you ask me

I have walked in your shoes, Mrs. Swayze, and it isn't easy. I know you miss him very much. You guys had something very special together. To let someone go is hard, but we all have to sooner or later....and they will have to let us go, too. God bless you and rest in peace, Patrick...such a tall fresh drink of water, that man was.
My sister is over fifteen years Pancreatic cancer survivor. No chemo, no surgery, do drugs. Lots of prayers, emotional healing, all vegan diet, and she is still with us today. The lord had another plan for her. She had a 2.5 centimeter by 2.5 centimeter tumor in her pancreas , it shrunk. My sister is one of the few. I am so thankful to the lord that she is still alive. Now my sister helps people with cancer, she is a cancer coach, and working on her book as she calls it; about her cancer "journey".
That is amazing and Thank you for sharing your Sister's story ❤️ So many people Blame God for these Devastating Diseases, Sicknesses and illnesses. When God did not afflict Us with these or the other bad things we face. But he will be there for anyone who cries out to him for Healing or he will have his arms wide open when it's time. Thankful for those who Pray and call upon God for Us 🙏❤🙏
