Some of these locomotives are now in excursion service, retired in museums or sadly scrap. However they aren’t forgotten and will always be remember.

I know that the video is focused on the death of steam and other trains in general. But god, I nearly cry every time I watch this because this remix hits like, well, a train. Great job, I’d like to see more of these in the future. R.I.P Chester Bennington.

Some of youse are missing it. Today marks 5 years to the day Linkin Park (the band who did this song) lead singer Chester Bennington took his own life (this song was used as a tribute video a few months later). He just cleverly combined with trains. Love this song and loved LP. Big reason I play drums and I used to listen to them when I used to use my models as a kid
There's also a hidden theme in the video. The song's real meaning is about death and memories however I took the lyrics to make the theme more or less like a changing of the times starting in the late 50s at the end of steam to the PSR age of modern day and this is enhanced by some consists containing engines going for scrap/retirement or wrecked units (only seen once as it was next to impossible to find good wreck models)

such a beautiful video, my favorite part was the 3 Conrail B36-7s that were involved in the chase md train disaster of 1987 5044, 5052, and 5045 pulling a freight train at horseshoe curve, wonderfully done 🥲💙
One of the final trains those 3 were lashed up were on happened to be a piggyback intermodal if I recall correctly days before the infamous day on January 4th so that's one of the reasons why I stuck them on such a consist.

I reamber when you first uploaded this video almost 2 years ago in 2022. now in 2024 my dog passed away in January for two whole years before he passed I would watch you ( I still watch you). this brings backs memories so thank you for making these videos. I will still watch you until I die or you stop uploading.

I'm literally covering this song at the next open mic night I'm performing at(August 3rd is the date), and I'm dedicating it to Chester(now that he's been gone for half a decade now), my paternal grandpa(who died at the beginning of the year), and every loved one anybody has lost to suicide over the last few years. it's very important that awareness is spread about such a tragic topic, and art is the perfect way to go about spreading said awareness
i love how in the video we only get to see a few shots of each type trains as time goes by. As we start seeing diesels, we see them pulling steam engines either headed for scrap or to be put in museums. And in a CP railyard shot, we can see some old EMD engines in the background that have presumably derailed and are headed for scrap. As we start seeing Penn Central be incorporated into Conrail, we can see some more old diesels headed for scrap. And finally, Conrail being split apart into parts of NS, CSX, and a few smaller railroads, With an NS GE pulling a funeral train for what i think are conrail EMDs. Really emphasizes how change is inevitable and we can't do anything about it, but we can do something to preserve our past.
Edit: In the conrail shot i just noticed the 3 B36-7s that were involved in the Chase MD collision, really nice cameo there.
I can imagine that when a steam engine was being pulled by a deasle to be kut up they were screaming this: PLEASE! DON'T TAKE ME! I'M NOT READY TO GO PLEASE! TAKE ME BACK TO MY ROUND HOUSE!PLEASE TAKE ME BACK HOME!
Happy birthday Chester. You and the rest of Linkin Park were my sound track for all my years in karate from 6th when I first started to 12th grade when I got my black belt. Even today your music still tops my playlist if I’m driving a car or riding my motorcycles. Or even running my LGB trains like I was tonight. RIP sir
He is my favorite singer of all time. I miss him so much like a lost best friend or brother. It's crazy because I never got a chance to meet my hero/idol.

This was the song that they played at my girlfriends funeral and when I watched this video it hit me hard

The only reference I found was the 3 conrail engines that were involved in the 1987 Chase Maryland Collision. Other than that, great music video.

You pretty much got em all except the patched Reading engine was a GP40 (The number 3278 is a reference to present day NS 3001, a once frequent find on Reading yard locals on her home rails)! The GP9s numbers were an easter egg that I guess is easy to miss considering how far in the shot they are but of course the Chase MD trio was a dead giveaway. Supposedly one of their last assignments was a TV pig train to Baltimore before the ENS-121 although 5045 led that train. Also according to a few sources they weren't supposed to be on that, a pair of "blackies" were supposed to go on ENS-121 which was later said to be 2 Patched Ex PC SD45s but they got yanked onto another train. I haven't confirmed it but if true those 2 45s got VERY lucky.
I feel like I can sort of see something behind this, especially with the Conrail locomotives in the Chase MD collision. A rather unique tribute to Chester, but a good tribute nonetheless. LP is also one of my personal favorite music artists (if not my favorite).

This is pretty much the unquestionable truth. Someday, the railways will not be the same ones we all remember from our youthful years as we grow older. Many will and have ended up in the scrapyard with few being preserved. I'm a Gen Z Sydneysider who grew to love the city's signature and locally-built double-decker silver EMUs and since 2017, I've now slowly watched them fade away from service and be replaced by overseas-built EMUs (namely the "Waratahs"/A sets on suburban runs).
In 2019, we saw the S sets "Sweat sets" (due to their lack of aircon) go from traffic by the first batch of "Waratah IIs"/B sets with only 14 of 509 coaches still with us. In 2021, COVID-19 and second batch B sets claimed the C set "Choppers" as their next victim with only 6 carriages of 56 built surviving. Now, 2023 is feared as the last hoorah for a Sydney icon with the V sets "Blue Gooses" and K sets scheduled to be replaced by D sets (which have been quite controversial trains, causing the rail union to do repeated strikes until the Government could do something about fixing these "safe" trains) and H sets respectfully.
The day the "Silver Rattlers" vanish from the daily life of Sydney will be a sad day indeed and I would be there for their final rides to say goodbye to them for one last time. Now I would feel for those who saw another Sydney rail icon, the "Red Rattler", vanish from the network in 1993 (ten years before I was born).

It still puts a strain on my PC mainly on the bigger highly detailed routes. small modules - Medium sized routes run just fine as do some of the older routes that I've gotten to work such as the ancient NEC route from Trainz 12. Not touching Trainz 22 for a while because of it's astronomical price tag and mixed reviews

That was 2 SD40-2s and a patched RDG GP40-2 on a manifest with several retired engines mostly going for scrap including the G as Conrail ended electric service in the mid 1980s
