    Body identification is not something that dissolves quickly.
    The sense of being a person, a body mind is all we have ever known, and life as we know it is entirely established on this foundational idea of being a particular body which is born and will die.
    So when you begin to practice Self Inquiry and are being given all the proof of how you are much more than this body, doubts, fears, and confusions naturally arise.
    Many of these unanswered questions keep the mind going in circles while completely distracting you from the actual inquiry.
    So today I thought I’d help you put to rest, many of these doubts and confusions in regards to this very important question.
    How could I possible not be the body? And what does it mean to let go of body identification?
    Please watch today’s video in full here. It will bring you incredible clarity.
    Best wishes,
    Sunny

      this is so insane to me.. ive always identified w all 3 of things as me, its difficult for me to separate myself from them & identify as the observer

    • @jsngill
      @jsngill 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @evalisseblooms no need to identify as the observer. In fact, identification IS the problem. Do not identify with anything. Watch yourself talking, walking, eating, conversing, working, performing actions. You will realize that every word you utter, every breath you take, every action you make, they all happen on their own. You do nothing. When you realize that this whole damn thing is happening on its own, you will see that it is all an APPEARANCE, and YOU, the ultimate reality, must be there to witness it otherwise it has no MEANING. In order to know you must unknow everything that has been put there. Then, the knot unravels itself.

    The body is an experience in awareness..
    If I lose an arm is awareness diminished in any way? My sense of being-aware remains untouched. My body has changed but not my sense of being.

    " I " get it now. No pun intended. That "I" is in both the waking/dreaming/ sleeping phases of our experiences. This is for everyone!!

    I imagine that deidentification with the body during normal waking would serve as a powerful enhancer to performing soul travel

    Since I do not exist as a separate entity it could also be said that I am the world just as a wave could claim that it is the ocean although the particular form is impermanent, in its essence it is the same. And since the world and I are one, there is no longer any inclination to act selfishly.

    When we say "lower nature" and the feelings/emotions that come with it, aren't we already judging as something bad and to be avoided?

    • @selfinquiryschool
      @selfinquiryschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      It’s for the purpose of explaining. Lower nature would refer to anything that arises on behalf of the separate self. It’s not to be avoided. It’s to be seen and understood. In understanding it is the transcendence of it

    @ 4:33 I get that fully, that we are in contrast to what is experienced, thus to see the body I have to be independent of it fully...BUT, why can we not move our point of view away from the body so we can see the fully body sitting in that chair...

    Is the feeling part of the mind or part of the I? When I’m having a good or bad feeling, the feeling is a flow like experience where I nor mind cannot be observed. So from where does a feeling arise?

    Sunny, I have a question.
    One thing that eludes me is that in deep sleep I'm not aware of "I," in that case how can you say for sure that awareness is primordial and not a by-product

    • @selfinquiryschool
      @selfinquiryschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You just said it. There’s an awareness of no “I.” There’s awareness but no “individual that is aware”

    • @jakesferdinand3519
      @jakesferdinand3519 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But doesn't awareness mean knowing. But in deep sleep there's no knower isn't it

    • @selfinquiryschool
      @selfinquiryschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a knowing of no individual knower. There’s a knowing of the absence of content, the absence of mind. However, is it not you that knows? But that which knows, is it an object?

    • @jakesferdinand3519

      It is after waking you're able to say that you had a deep sleep, but not while in deep sleep, isn't it?

    • @selfinquiryschool
      @selfinquiryschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Upon waking it is simply your mind interpreting, “there was an absence.” In sleep mind is not there to arise and say there is an absence. Yet you are there, but not as a something. In sleep there’s nothing to say and no one to say it. You cease to exist as an object, yet still you are. The body in waking, the body in dream, the absence in sleep, are all not you. They are states that you experience but you are not limited to either of the 3 states. Yet you are the underlying reality, the essence of all 3. Present in all 3 yet transcendant of them.

    I = eye

  • @Cuzzasedso
    @Cuzzasedso 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How I see the question (don't know if this is how the person meant it) is that my brain is a part of my body, and I always get stuck on the idea that my awareness is a product of my brain. Therefore, how can "I" not be my body?

    • @selfinquiryschool
      @selfinquiryschool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So don’t assume that idea, that awareness is the product of brain. Be open to the possibility that it is not. Be open to the brain itself being an experience in awareness

    • @dcreighton987
      @dcreighton987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! Science has still to find the answer to the question “How does matter produce consciousness?” I suspect that answer will never be found as it just does not make sense for matter to produce consciousness.

    • @claudelebel49
      @claudelebel49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dcreighton987 and science never will find the answer because consciousness precedes scientific thought. Scientific thought arises out of consciousness.
