    Have a pair I inherited from my father in law in 2018, they were in his living room since new 76’ rarely used like new.

    Own a pair of those, those appear maybe newer year, my passive radiator has aluminum beauty ring like woofer and front speaker panel is Black. Have the original grills (sky blue cloth in this metal frame, very 1970's). These are the best used speakers I have purchased to date, have 13 pairs of different speakers. Paint Black.........no chance in Hell.

    Lucky they came to you so you can work your magic. Good on the buyer to get them the TLC they need.

    My mate had a pair of 66's I think they are awesome speakers much better than my 25's 😁

      No part 2 sorry. Fixed these sonically and then sent them back to the client to cosmetically refurbish

    Thank you for the video! 😁
    I must say the B&W DM4 (seen your viseo on that one too) they are crazy for precise quality midrange and highs...wish it had just a tad more in the bass...this is why I'm going to get a Spendor SP100r2...but I bet this Celestion Ditton 66 speaker must also have similarities to the B&W DM4 and Spendor SP100r2 ?
    two tricks for the ones that don't know...if you have an old vintage speaker...rotating the main drivers 180 degrees and using a tad of detoxit brushed on all the contacts and😮...makes a huge difference in my recently aquired vintage B&W DM4

      DeOxit I what I used in a recent video on a pair of DM4. Helps clean up the push fit connectors. I always suggest soldering the wires directly but some clients want originality. The DM4 is a good speaker. Its that 16ohm HF1300 and coles Super Tweeter combination that's the winner. B&W 8inch 200/4 woofer is also a great unit. The cabinets could have been better though as could the wiring and connection method.

    Thanks again...can tell you're very good at restoring these and love what you do😁...can you tell me how this Celestion Ditton 66 compares to a Spendor S100 or SP100 ...can you help me

    This guy brought a crossover rebuild from me. He then sent the whole speakers to me. I did all of this for nothing other than my fee for the crossover rebuild. To this day i don't know how i walked into that one! I must be mad! Live and learn. These had damaged mid drivers. Full of distortion. Really they were to far gone cosmetically. Sounded ok though

    someone local to me is selling a pair of ditton 44, the boxes look in very good condition...but one of the tweeter membranes is bad , they say it sounds loose...😅guess it should just be replaced❓
    please tell me if the ditton 44 or ditton 66 is a better buy and what one has better sound quality...ditton 44... €400❓

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 44 and 66 both have advantages. Top end is similar on both. Better midrange on the 66. Bass is bigger and lower on the 66 but less controlled than the 44. I prefer the 44 personally

    Do they use brass bolts on the inductors? Hope your man stumps up for the extra work!

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No Celestion always used steel bolts. It really doesn't make any difference. Yes it's not what we would do now and the inductor orientation isn't ideal but that's how they got designed and voiced.

    • @mfr58
      @mfr58 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@haycrossaudio5474 Interesting, because much is said about the distortion of iron core inductors, but I guess the CSA of the bolts is small enough not to be noticeable.

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mfr58 Ah yes a screw is very very very different to an iron core which is purposely added to increase inductance. If tested this in the past. The thin steel screw has minimal affect. An iron slug is very different. The smeering comes from the retention of the magnetic field in the iron core which when collapses induces a voltage back into the inductors windings

      @@haycrossaudio5474 walked right into my half asleep shopping last night. Decided to direct wire the crossovers rather than stick with the pcb., found some lovely wood panels to mount them on.. and thought id go the least conductive i could find for the pins... Forgot all about the magnetics of iron 😂
      The bose im redoing had a crossover pinned inside with metal staple type pins. Steel.
      So i guess ill be off to buy some steel pins :/

    How do you think the 66 compares to the 662?

    • @haycrossaudio5474
      @haycrossaudio5474  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Whilst I've rebuilt a few crossovers for the 662 I've never listened to a pair. I'd imagine there similar but more refined and detailed?
