Nice little compilation, but shame those 35GEs were really struggling with that load despite there being five of them. They weren't designed to haul heavy loads on mainlines.
Not a dumb comment David. Im not sure if you're familiar with South Africas Rail network that suffered sever infrastructure damage/theft during Covid. There are sections of track that has damaged or missing electric cables hence the use of diesels.
Awesome footage and angles and audio !!!!
Thanks Oom Piet, trying something new.
Great video
They should have use the class 43 diesels for that load
Strangley they only run the 43s after Worcester
Nice video.... Those 35's must be retired....two 43's diesels would probably do it easily 🚂🚂
I agree, it will be a breeze.

Agreed, they should utilize the 43GEs more towards Cape Town side and let the 35s rest, and get serviced.
👍
Dumb comment maybe, but here goes: it’s an electrified line. Why not use, you know, electric locos?

These locomotives are tired man. Transnet should at least have brought the class 39's down to the Cape
We have 43s here but they only run after Worcester towards the Tunnels.
