A twist on this is instead of using a bit holder is to use a double sided nut driver bit from Malco or Dewalt. It certainly is shallow but gives the option for 1/4 and 5/16 sheet metal screws. Then to get real crazy is use the Malco shank with the Dewalt socket. It allows for a short bit to fit perfect, but now you are above the cost of the original leatherman. Appreciate the idea here.

Good idea that would probably work pretty well!

I just did this for my skeletool with a Dremel also. I'll test it out for a week and see if it needs any changes. It is a super snug fit so I don't think it will have a problem staying inserted.

Mines been working well. Solid choice on the Skeletool one of my favorites!

It looks like you could have machined off a bit more. Were you worried it would weaken the drill driver at the thin spot at the base of the drill driver?

My main concern was keeping the two sides perfectly parallel since I did this by hand the longer the shank modification was the more likely a twist or inconsistency in the thickness of a shank would occur. I did enough to make it work without any issues. If you had a belt sander or something I thought it would be pretty easy to put a larger shank on an existing pit without any concerns

I ordered a leather man bit extension thinking that the leatherman bits would fit on it I didn’t realize it was for the 3D round bits which is no big deal I just thought it was made for the 2D bits

you can still put the 2D bits in there. it just won't be quite as snug as a 3D Bit.
