Turtlepurl is a Canadian self striping colors dyer. Fabulous colorways and really nice quality yarn. I hope your 30 year brings you happy new yarns and much knitting time!
Happy New Year from across the pond, Maryland to be precise @7:46am! I'm watching your satisfied smile talking about the Ingrid and sock project. I just wanted to pop in and wish you the best for 2025! Before I go, here's a big warm hug lass. Lol. Much love from a grateful old woman, lol. Ms. Jo
Haha the magpies!! I work with a lot of hand dyed yarn and have only had issues which blank patches on a handful of skeins over the years, but agree, it is frustrating when it happens. I would suggest reaching out to the dyer to let them know, even if you don't want a refund/replacement, just from a quality control perspective. Looking forward to your 2024 highlights video! x
Hi, finally, I found a knitter from my city 😊 love the choice of sock yarns. My plan is to finish all WIPs by 31st Dec and start the year with new cast on galore 🎉
I use "the perfect toe up socks" by Nimble Needles to use up all the yarn for a pair of socks. Plus no need to pick up stitches, I am definitely not a cuff-down knitter haha
@@Stitchesinstem What do you like better about it? Just curious, I haven't made any cuff-down socks because when I watched a video on how they're done, I was like uhhhhh so tedious... 😂
Still have 2 gift knits to finish before I start any projects for myself. Your Ingrid sweater is looking beautiful! Self striping sock yarn is my absolute favorite, I don’t even care if the sock stripes do not match, it makes them look more handmade💖
You cracked me up with the reaction to neon pink because I’m exactly the same (well all neon colors actually). 😂 Imagine the disappointment when an advent calendar two years ago turned out to be almost all neon even though described as earthy tones when it was sold. You bet I sent an angry message to the dyer (and was compensated with more yarn).
Oh your makes are beautiful! I had an Ingrid sweater just like yours colour wise, but I recently Rit dyed it a warm green 😊. Regarding the sock yarn, I really feel that issue is unacceptable to sell. Many hand dyers re tie the skeins so the tie is looser, they also check their skeins after dying, and if it has occurred they sell them a heavily discounted prices. I would have contacted the dyer 😊 Tiny Human Knits out of Canada has very high standards and reasonable prices too! Enjoy your extended time off 🎉
Thank you! I do have more faith in yarn dyers who do misfit or accidental sales - just from a quality control perspective. I follow tiny human knots on IG too - their yarn looks great!
Love the socks! Need to work on just a pair of simple socks for myself for the new year 😅 I just want to say for the sock yarn, and I guess any hand dyed yarn, unfortunately the tie issue is something from the mill rather than the dyer ☹ you would think some mills would know their yarn is being dyed so to have the ties looser but I guess not!
Oh right I didn’t know that! Thanks for sharing. I’ll clarify that in my next video ☺️ It’s still something I would want to be aware of before buying, but it’s just unfortunate for both the customer and the dyer!
I don’t agree. The dyer is creating the color and that includes examining the yarn, including adjusting/re-doing the ties. If that requires too much effort, they can talk to the mill (likely no change will happen). But creating consistent color is the responsibility of the dyer.
@@sleepydrJ oh! I was speaking more on the actual tie issue. As someone who has worked at an indie dyer I remember there was a specific mill we would work with that would consistently provide us with yarn with tight ties despite numerous requests to loosen them 🥲 I totally agree it’s on the dyer to provide yarn of consistent color but as you mentioned the readjusting of ties is very time consuming and it can be difficult to find new mills especially for specific bases customers or the dyer want to work with
@ it’s easy for me because I only dye for my own projects. For someone looking to sell, it’s a real concern, where adding 5-7 minutes per skein (fixing ties) will really add up, decreasing profits pretty fast.
That's such a disappointment that your entire advent calendar had undyed spots 😔 I understand if a one skein of 24 had that issue, but it being a consistent problem is a bummer. That said, your socks still look really pretty-- I guess that is the benefit of variegated socks lol

Oh I’ll have a look! Thank you very much ☺️
So happy I found your podcast. :)
Thank you!

Happy New year to you too! Thank you for the lovely comment ☺️❤️
love your Ingrid sweater in this light color! I also would like to knit myself a levitate wrap, so useful and beautiful piece 🤎
Thank you!
Happy new year! The Ingrid sweater is looking sooo good! I am in awe of your sock formula 😮 my 2025 goal is to find a perfectly fitting sock pattern!
Happy New Year Aoife! It’s taken a lot of failed socks to get to this point, and even now they fail sometimes 🥲
Super in love with the color of your ingrid sweater! Excited to see the finished result 🐑
Thank you - I love the colour too and it’s not something I typically would have gone for!
Your Ingrid Sweater is absolutely beautiful! It has inspired me to cast-on a textured knit soon.
Thank you! ☺️❤️

Sounds like a great plan 😁 what are you planning to cast on?

I’ve done a few toe up socks but definitely prefer cuff down!

@ I like the slip stitch heel flap and gusset and haven’t figured out how to work it into a toe up sock in a way that I like!

You can do it - just power on through 💪🏻
@ 🥰
You appear to be a math maniac! Love it…
If the person doesn't buy the yarn from you, I'd be glad to.
Thank you! I’ll keep you in mind 😁
I'm happy to have found your channel. I look forward to watching in 2025. Happy New Year!!🎉
Thank you!

It was the math that put the socks over the top!

Yeah like I wouldn’t even have mentioned it if it was a once-off!
