Drinking 3.6 litres of water?? I would never get any work done, as I'd be spending most of the day in the bathroom!! 🙂 A very Happy New Year to you both!
@@TheAussieFlipper I went through a period of time where I was drinking upwards of 8-9 litres a day for medical purposes. Went probably 15-20 times a day. I never thought I'd hear my doctor say "Well, you actually need to slow down on the water, we don't want you to get acute water poisoning and die" lmao. Apparently you can get hyponatremia, essentially you've diluted your sodium too much, and it can kill ya. Be safe!
If I was you I would have just kept your store as usual but extend the handling to 12 days. When i was away for 5 weeks in august, i put my store in time away for the max 30 days and then when my store went back to normal I extended my handling to 12 days after that and when my sales started after 30 days it was slower than usual but I messaged every buyer advising them i was still away and when i would post there item and if that was not suitable i could refund their money. Nobody told me to cancel and many said "Happy Holidays". I did that twice now with no problems or cancellations.
Needed to stop the video to tell you I am an avid Robin Hobb fan…. Totally impressed by this stash…. I giggled when you said that you told the shop assistant about being a big fan of the author then referenced the author as a ‘he’ in your video 🤭 fun facts: Robin is a woman - her real name is Megan Lindholm, (& from what I understand) she had written several books under her real name but then decided to switch to the pen name ‘Robin Hobb’ as it was harder to guess what gender the author is because women weren’t being taken seriously in the realm of fantasy writing… so there you go - random internet facts 🎉 if you have any questions about the books, I’m happy to try to answer them 😊
I just came off vacation mode for 14 days, accepting sales while gone. I am a low level seller. I had 10 sales which is pretty much on par for me. I think the vacay mode hit is more impactful for high volume sellers. I'm thankful I can still sell while out of town!
My goal this year is to do a stocktake, get rid of some of the crap that has sat around for ages. Good to see you back, hope you had a nice holiday! Driving all the way to Melbourne whoa that would be a bit of a trek!
Glad to have you back! Looking forward to another year of videos! Based off the postage etc on the CSI Miami sale (for example), do you think in 2025 you may reassess your postage strategy/structure due to the ongoing increases from Aus Post, to retain a higher profit margin?
Hi Matt, We are currently on time away, as we are spending time with family in Sydney. We had to close.the store til the 2nd, as it only allows up to 15 days. Since we opened, we had 450 in sales, so we can't complain :) We will be listing to catch up when we are back after the 17th. Happy New Year!
I used time away for five days early November, I had drafts scheduled to drop live every day so kept algorithm going; I accepted sales with a message of when items would ship. When I turned store back on I still got sales - everyone has mixed experiences but mine are good!
As a part time reseller I took 4 weeks off in time away mode in November this year and I was surprised to see that when I came back in December my sales had become more consistent than before. I think this may be partly due to ending my listings and selling similar… this seemed to do the trick 😅 I am also quite new to eBay so perhaps my hard work has finally payed off and the algorithm has noticed it. Hope this helps someone!
I imagine the after Christmas/New Year period would be a fairly slow sales period as many people do travel and there are less people on ebay during this time, so Im not sure if using the time away feature during that period (let's say fortnight) would make much of a difference compared to using it at other times during the year
As I understand it eBay's fees are charged on your postage as well as the item value. Wouldn't that mean you're margin would take a hit with higher overseas shipping rates?
Not sure about not pressing the button... I went away for 3 weeks, closed store for 1 and then put it to "timeaway" for 2 weeks. I had enough drafts to post 2 a day while it was in timeaway. Sales were down but it's not nothing! December sales overall were same as October!
My goal is to actually set up my store, I have had an account since 2001 but I've never had an actual store. So, now is the time. Then my other goal is to schedule a certain amount every day. Thanks for sharing, love your channel!
eBay dropped off a cliff here in the UK, the final 10 days of the year. I love travelling, especially with so many great countries on my doorstep. How many weeks a year do you suggest putting your store into holiday mode? Yes, we all need to work hard & put in the hours but I also think it's important to recharge the body & mind. Good luck this year.
Hi In a future video could you do a lil section on the shoes and the eBay authentication works? Just a better break down on the process. I’ve read the terms on eBay, just need a confirmation on how it works. Still a bit hesitant
Gday mate, love your work. I have been following for most of your ebay journey, and it has helped my wife and I get a small ebay business of the ground. Please note that at 28:25 in this video you casually walked past the greatest Halal Snack Pack (HSP) spot in Australia. At night time that place has a line out the door. Info for next time :p
Be careful of too much water also. 3.6lt is a lot in a day if you're not sweating a lot etc. I know you guys run etc so should be fine but on days in office air con not doing much that's a lot. :)
Have you thought about doing like a 50/50 shipping where you pay half and the buyer pays half? I think it would help up your margins and wouldn’t take away to many sales if at all
I restarted selling on Ebay in April 2024 with the goal of a 500 clothing store. In the past I had a 1000- 1200 and sold everything but clothing. I stayed around 300 items on 24 so I need to up the listing goal. I also would like my average sale price to be 30 and above. I am a part time seller by the way.
Same thing happened to me master splinter. My sales have dropped in half after i spent 3 weeks in nz last year. Haven't recovered yet either and its been 3 months!
Time away always kills sales. Most people are so used to getting their items within a few days. Unless you have very rare items most people will look for items that ship asap.
Update: I've completed my first lot of sourcing today where I went to 2 different op shops and found a new and sealed board game for $5 valued at $60 called Squatter
With the PS4 controllers i reckon you underpriced them. Video games are my thing. I sell PS4 controllers for $45 each, the silver one alone goes for 70 before fees and postage
@TheAussieFlipper 💯 are, you say it's built in then complain about postage costs, I've been charging post for over 10 years, watch your profit margins go up and your lol 5 discount is either extra profit or pays for shipping materials/time. or you could just keep doing you lol.
I have a goal to finish $25k in 2025. I set up the business to fundraise and I’m at 9k so far but I reckon I can ramp it up using all the tips. Good luck with your goals.
I think after looking back at this year I’m now at the point of making the next step of actually turning this thrifting addiction into a business. It may be a part time thing still but comparing data from this years sales compared to last It’s a no brainer. Really enjoyed the vids when I get to watch. All the best for 2025 and many more to come. I’m also trying to multiply the amount of subs 😉 😉 🤜🏼
Most sole traders have to take unpaid leave when they have time off, so to still bring in 50% of regular revenue whilst away from work I think is pretty decent... Feels like a wind to me :) You'll get it back up in no time anyway...
If you're wanting to be a "real" reseller in the US, don't listen to a word this man says. Outside of maybe TH-cam revenue not sure how he makes a profit on anything. He's trying to sell you on DVD and Video Game sales. That ship sailed quite a while ago in the US.
Drinking 3.6 litres of water?? I would never get any work done, as I'd be spending most of the day in the bathroom!! 🙂 A very Happy New Year to you both!
I’ve been going 10x per day

Free postage all the way! Forever

Happy new year! Bring the consistent listings back and you’ll see sales again

Yes but I offer free postage domestically so it’s built into the price. Technically I’ve made addition $$ on that value to counter the overall fees
Good stuff! I very much look forwards to seeing your progress this year correct! 😁

Good to be back ma man!
Damn, you were gone a while and I hoped it would be for good! Just kidding, welcome back 😁
To be fair i think that whether you go in holiday mode or not you have a decent decrease in sales after about December 20.
Welcome back both of you. Hopefully you enjoyed the time away finally. Cant wait for more vids on where your goals are at. Have fun 👍

Good luck! You’ve got this
Even with the Away mode off, I think sales generally drop around the December month with people being away on holidays.
For sure

Happy new year mate big 25’ ahead

I have achieved one goal today and that is to open my eBay store and to list 10 items
Wooohoooo
Be careful of too much water also. 3.6lt is a lot in a day if you're not sweating a lot etc. I know you guys run etc so should be fine but on days in office air con not doing much that's a lot. :)

my store always takes time to recover once i come back from time away mode

Great video
Thanks for watching
I think it was a bad time for sales regardless. I’m down 60% on this time last year, and my sales were still ok during the away last year.
You'll want to list that Bachman Books as it's own listing and probably IT as well.
I did!!
CSI is becoming hard to shift. There are literally hundreds of these on ebay.
Sold Get Smart for $60 so definitely worth getting it listed.
My one eBay goal is to just get started.
Let’s do it
Update: I've completed my first lot of sourcing today where I went to 2 different op shops and found a new and sealed board game for $5 valued at $60 called Squatter
Excellent
The Bachman Books by Stephen King is a $200+ book, great find!
Welcome back into mate, All the best to you and Kate for 2025
eBay delisted all my items during time away
With the PS4 controllers i reckon you underpriced them. Video games are my thing. I sell PS4 controllers for $45 each, the silver one alone goes for 70 before fees and postage
Someone got a great deal
absolutely wild you still cop postage costs, try giving it a go
I don’t cop postage costs lol silly

I’m not going to 1v1 you after you’ve done a 75 hard 😂
This deserves more views. Followed 👍

Are the majority of your sales all within the country of Australia?
90%
I have about 1000 rock n roll music dvds. Lots are sealed if you are interested
Lucky dog 🐕 he gets to go thrifting with you
Happy new year
About time you came back, jokes hope you had a great break mate!
Awesome break mate stoked to be back

Who the hell are you Jeff? I’ve been here for 4 years showing my video game / dvd sales and the success of it, if you don’t believe it don’t watch
He's obviously doing extremely well with them here, Jeffy.
Arrogant much?! All completely relevant for Aussie Ebay sellers and tons of great tips for everyone.
Kate is cute 🥰 I think I would rather listen to her than you 🤣
Fair I love listening to her too
Goal 1 - Min £2000 Nett post-taxation Profit per month.
Having Time Away showing is like saying "no one's home, feel free to break in".
Woohoo bring in 2025
I absolutely do want to see what sells for $20-$40, probably more so than the expensive stuff 😂 don’t underestimate us 😂
lol my advise is to stay away from the low ticketed stuff! A lot of work for not a lot of gain!!
@ everyone’s got access to different stock. It’s good to have options.
