You can take out injectors or glow plug and put different types of chemicals for 24 hours into piston to soak to dissolve the stuff around piston there and many videos on TH-cam 😅😅
Did you get on top of the problem mate if so what was the issue if not try checking out the egr valve isn't blocked up with oil and carbon deposits also could be a blown turbo check the intake side of turbo shaft by wiggling it up down side to side for any play generally more than 1.5mm of play its rebuild time for the turbo
Yeah it has pretty major engine damage. Low compression on 3 of the cylinders, head gasket leak, bearings are worn, and 3 of the pistons are crumbling around the piston rings. Everything else we tested was tip top, but we'll still put the diagnosis videos up.

@@landcruiserscotland I see, I own the 4.7L V8 GXL, ive had no dramas with it at all its done 380k klms and drives like new still, I run 98 octane unleaded fuel in it always and has proven very reliable, my mechanic said it's not uncommon to see them come into the shop with over 700k klms on them with original motor that still drive like new and in good mechanical order he swears by the V8 petrol he said it was one of the most over speced engines toyota ever produced, and the fact it has a solid cast iron bottom end you can safely bolt on a supercharger or turbocharger with just a piggy back tune, very reliable if well maintained.
Yeah I really wanted the diesel for towing, and there are some other problems with the petrol version (like the fuel thirst). The diesel is a huge heavy cast iron lump too, I just think this one has seen some very poor maintenance in the past. Seems they're sensitive to the maintenance schedule.

It's looking like the piston rings are ruined, and they don't seat well until the engine is hot.
