Just to add a slight correction, The Athletic reported that Forest actually offered him a 2-year deal with maybe slightly lower wages. He/They didn't want it, probably thinking that he could shine as a "big fish in a small pond" at Forest for a season then zip off for a bigger deal elsewhere. He wasn't even thinking about any possibility of making a return to the England squad, let alone the World Cup. If he did, he would've made the logical choice of going to West Ham. There was even an attempt at positioning himself as a "mental health victim" after Dele Alli came out bawling before Gary Neville, it did work to an extent for a short period of time as some people in the media including pundits and journalists suddenly became very careful when commenting about a waste like Lingard.
Ultimately who ever his minders were, he made the final decisions. Laziness, immaturity and a lack of application destroyed his career, plain and simple. He's still rich and probably doesn't care. I would be very upset if my club signed a player like him 😡
What does that even mean? His mind might not be wholly on football. Is he supposed to think of nothing but football all day long? Do you say the same of players doing the rocking baby celebration, or any other pre planned celebration? Absolute nonsense.
@@danpreston564it’s this simple. Where is the winners mentality? The let’s go again! This is all backed up by the fact he can’t even get a club in the Saudi era!! Think about it. Have a nice day.
He has himself to blame!! He decided to join Nottingham because of the wages even though West Ham were willing to welcome him with open arms and the fans loved him.
He made the worst mistake of his career by not signing permanently with West Ham after the successful loan spell. He should never have believed Ole, saying he'd get game time. But Lingard is probably just happy that he got to play with Ronaldo
You really think Ole persuade him to stay at Man Utd? Ronaldo came back to United that season, can you imagine a world famous footballer would be great for his stupid clothing brand. He even try to make Ronaldo do the stupid JL hand sign.
Tbf, I really don’t think Ole PLANNED on Ronaldo coming back. Maybe Lingard would’ve had more PT, seeing how he’d only have to compete with Dan James and Sancho at the time.
As far as i am concerned it was a mistake to sign him a total waste of money. And it annoys me when other forest fans say he was good for the team because he was good support on the sidelines. I am sorry but he wasn't employed to be a chairleader he was employed to assist in keeping forest up. He was more interested in his social media endeavours than he was for us.
The gas thing is you have thousands of cheerleaders and they're the ones paying the wages, following the team home and away each week. This idea that footballers are good because they're supportive is nonsense. He was on like 200k a week at Forest.
He disappointed many by not staying at West Ham. The only reason he went to Forest was more money. He was first choice and was playing well. He had stability and didnt want it
Trust me, you wouldn't recognise him after he got a contract. Lucky escape for West Ham....then again, most football fans are blinkered, lack real football knowledge and not too bright 😏
His biggest mistake was not going to Westham permanently. He found the form of his life there, where the team made him better and he made the team better. As a Man Utd fan I've always wanted to see Jesse do well and I think that was a match made in heaven. I don't like how much hate the guy gets because of social media. Jesse has a big heart and is a good guy, from stopping randomly to have a kick around with kids who recognised him pass in his car to that time after he scored the winner in the FA Cup, turning up to where United fans were drinking and buying everyone a few pints and staying and mingling with everyone. I hope his next move is good for him and he's happy, he deserves it, best of luck to him 👏
If only he pushed to join West Ham permanently in 2021 instead of believing Ole, then he would have been a club legend for West Ham. At Manchester United he did play his best football under Mourinho but under Ole he failed to score and assist for 18 months and under Moyes at West Ham on loan he was enjoying himself again. Last season made a poor move to Nottingham instead of joining West Ham on a free and done nothing like no goals and no assists. Now his career is in limbo with no clubs pursuing his signature. It's sad. I always enjoyed watching Lingard at Manchester United especially when Mourinho truly got the best of him.
Its all on him when west ham wanted him he wanted more money , under ole he couldn't be bothered and it was clear to see his downfall is all on him and him alone
@@yaboibunsen363 Payet is not a club legend bro. Probably more of a cult player. Just because clubs like West Ham aren't super successful doesn't mean they don't have actual legends
Seems simplistic but to me Lingard was always one of those legend in his own mind players. Someone who thought he could make it somewhere like United and someone who wanted to be a Ronaldo or a Messi without the hard work and focus on the football that those types of players have.
The moment he started referring to himself a J-Lingz it was over. That’s the point his 100% focus on football died. He was average anyway. Had about 2 good seasons.
This feels like the type of video his agent asked you to do. Pumping him up when it reality his last spell at forrest was very poor. He's not cut out for the big leauges anymore should take a championship or mls contract
The most amazing thing about lingard is that despite only ever being an average prem player, he still somehow makes millions of people feel the urge to make comments about how average he was.
What "undoubted talent"? I think that's one of the key problems. There never was any reason to judge Jesse as being a highly talented player. He never was, he just was paid like one by the embarrassingly poor management at Man United. He was always a mediocre player with 2 or 3 very good performances per season. His talent is very "doubtable".
Even if he is good enough to get into a squad, any club would be stupid to touch him. He alienates fans and I’d guess he does the same to senior squad members.
If Lingard is going for the MLS, it would suit his brand and style of play. As long as he spends his time remaining fit, he should be fine for whichever team he ends up joining.
As as United fan, I have very rarely been impressed with him. His time at West Ham was over hyped, scoring a few counters against weakened teams that seemed to be his only highlight.
he just looked different for man utd on the field towards the end, yet he found his spark that he had before at west ham and had that permanent cheeky smile he had before. it was mistake not staying there had he done so i think moyes would have made full use of him.
@@vignotum132 Lets all weep for the multimillionaire that doesn't have any pride and is happy to sit on the bench collecting a paycheck for doing absolutely nothing. The fact of the matter is Jessie doesn't seem to care about being a footballer, he had the option to go to West Ham and have the team built around him, but he chose to stay at Man U even though it was obvious that they weren't going to use him. Then he had the option to go to West Ham on a 2 year deal and once again be a lynchpin for the team, instead he chose Forest because they were paying him more money. Nobody should have any sympathy for a lazy idiot.
I believe joining West Ham United would have been the best move at the time for him. Then again, regardless of how this plays out, he has had an okay career - at least, when compared to another of ours, a certain Ravel Morrison.
I always had a lot of time for Jesse Lingard as a United fan but Jesse is everything that is wrong with modern day football. Not a team player, doesn't take his job seriously, thinks the world revolves around him and that he is the main character, doesn't put in extra work, thinks just because he was gifted with the talent of playing football that he is better than everyone else. He shunned all the older players at Man United thinking they were old and out of touch and along with Pogba poisoned some of the younger players in the squad as they were "cool and trendy" players that were outgoing. The best thing United ever did was let him and Pogba go and are now trying to bring in professionals who take their job seriously. There is a reason Lingard is still unemployed, nobody wants to deal with a prima dona who thinks he is world class when his attitude is stinking.
Loved watching Lingard at west ham, he was a perfect fit for them and should of stayed there. But he was sold dreams and had the chance to play with his idol back at united. I feel sorry for him about that. But he should have gone back to west ham when he was a free agent in 2022
Lingard overvalues himself. If he lowered his demands, he could find a club. Comebacks are possible, no matter the reason for the time off. There are all kinds of openings out there. Willian at Fulham, Andros Townsend at Luton at two examples.
I’d say I noticed the trend with Ozil (though his happened while at a club) and a few others. They are players with ability but at a high price point. The price (wages etc) is one only the biggest teams will pay or a small or medium team would only pay for a player they are absolutely sure would perform and raise their level. The need to keep big players with huge contracts usually leads to such contracts and if performances dip or injury sets in or manager/ play style change, you have a big player with a big contract or a free agent with significant demands.
Ozil and Lingard? You must be a Man Utd fan! LMAO. Just like Martial, and Pogba. Notice a pattern? The only thing that these trash are devoted to are themselves.
I remember seeing him zip this insane diagonal ball across his backyard towards a wheelie bin (well over 40yrs) during the pandemic and it rattled the rim but popped out. His response: “I’ll take that.” His career in a nutshell.
0:04 - 30 months ago* he hasn't got the chops to play at the highest level. I said he'd be great for the MLS when we released him. He can go out there and have fun on social media, rub shoulders with b-tech celebs, he doesn't have to integrate language-wise and the league's poor enough that he could actually do somewhat well there
The lad was a lifelong United fan who wanted to chance to go back and be a part of his boyhood club again It was said that Solksjaer told him he would feature in the first team at United after impressing at West Ham & they didn't want to sell him to a team they saw as a "rival" at the time either so him going back to United wasn't strange at all. He joined Forest over West Ham when his contract expired for money. They offered a bigger salary and massive bonuses as mentioned which West Ham simply weren't willing to match given his form has been notoriously inconsistent
Tbh not every footballer sees football as a passion but rather as a job So some people, like Lingard, just wanted to get out of poverty and once they get that, they are happy and that all
This is so true. I know fans love seeing passionate footballers. But not everyone will be successful hungry as Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi. This reminds me of the expectations people gave to Neymar. That's what I feel about Neymar. Yeah he is passionate about football but I don't think he ever wanted to be the greatest footballs ever. He was content with were he was.
Jose Mourinho said something along the lines of ... See where United's former players play, if they play. Man was right all along about our decline. Football heritage.
life is all about choices, lingardinho was doing good at west ham, but decided to go back to manu to be benched again for a whole year. he didn't do much at not forrest to earn a good place anywhere else
It’s a good point, I think footballers followed the lead of those that went before them, you needed another contract as your wages wouldn’t keep you forever…as the wages, even in the earlier PL days, while higher than average, weren’t life changing…they’re now realising that they can just sit back and wait…they don’t NEED to work for a few years…they know there will always be the MLS, the Saudi league and even desperate promoted clubs who need a big name
Its not a big deal. There are 1.5 Million youth footballers in UK. How many of them can claim to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world AND scored the winner in an FA Cup Final? He has had a good career.
Sad waste of talent really, especially when you consider Andrés Townsends situation where he fought back from a terrible ACL without a club and has worked so hard. Townsend seems to really appreciate Luton Town, which with great respect is a step down from his former employers although still top flight. I doubt that AT was ever on the same level of salary though.
When Lingard did ehat he did fkr West Ham, United wanted him for another year, the Ronaldo year. The attack was too stacked for him to fit anywhere and he just never played. United ruined his momentum not once, but twice. I thought I was going to see a beast at Nottingham, but what happened, happened.
The same thing that happened to Dele Alli. Lack of maturity. All I remember him doing at the 2018 World Cup semifinal was incessantly yelling at the referee. Edit: The guy refused to join Newcastle at the start of last season because they wanted to pay him 120k per week but he was adamant he wanted 180k. Bad decision Jesse.
Sometimes when I’m being offered a job that I don’t like but also don’t want to personally decline, I just ask for a price so ridiculous that even the Saudis would laugh at. I’m sure that for a man as rich as Lingard, he’ll do the same thing.
Overhyped, overpaid with an underwhelming attitude.. Had two career highlights: a excellent spell for Utd before the 2018 World Cup which got him in the Mondial squad and played very well during a short loan period at West Ham in 2021. Apart from this mediocrity has characterized his performances. Totally failed at Forest and not wanted in Saudi or at West Ham for a second spell tells the story. He is a close friend of Rashford; that explains the rest.

I would be very upset if my club signed a player like him 😡
Still a young upcoming talent at 31! What a feat!
heh... my boy.... eating his vegetables... developing..
needs more time. he's developing
🤣 This comment is gold!
I remember reading that his goal celebration was designed to promote his clothing brand. I concluded that his mind might not be wholly on football.
What does that even mean? His mind might not be wholly on football. Is he supposed to think of nothing but football all day long? Do you say the same of players doing the rocking baby celebration, or any other pre planned celebration?
Absolute nonsense.
Well yeah most players dont think soley on football theyd burn out at that point
Correct!! 100%. The fact people can’t see how bad it is to have a player who isn’t fully commited in the dressing room is laughable.
@@danpreston564it’s this simple. You’ve scored a goal at Old Trafford in front of 75k and rather than being elated you’ve scored, glad you’ve equalised/put your team in front and running to celebrate with the fans……he’s just thinking about himself and off the field stuff! Where is the winners mentality? The let’s go again! This is all backed up by the fact he can’t even get a club in the Saudi era!! Think about it.
Have a nice day.
The thing is once the cheque stops they go broke
He has himself to blame!! He decided to join Nottingham because of the wages even though West Ham were willing to welcome him with open arms and the fans loved him.
Excellent young prospect - long future ahead of him 🙌🏼
Lingardinho the next Ronaldinho.
Just a kid
heh...
He made the worst mistake of his career by not signing permanently with West Ham after the successful loan spell. He should never have believed Ole, saying he'd get game time.
But Lingard is probably just happy that he got to play with Ronaldo
"He should have never believed Ole" that's easy to say after the fact isn't it
You really think Ole persuade him to stay at Man Utd? Ronaldo came back to United that season, can you imagine a world famous footballer would be great for his stupid clothing brand. He even try to make Ronaldo do the stupid JL hand sign.
Tbf, I really don’t think Ole PLANNED on Ronaldo coming back. Maybe Lingard would’ve had more PT, seeing how he’d only have to compete with Dan James and Sancho at the time.
The fact remains that Lingard is an average player, clubs would be willing to sign him for reasonable salary, but he wants to get a ridiculous salary
Average players don’t have anywhere near the number of great moments as Lingard did.
@@dreadful_name2924 if there so many moments of brilliance, why don't clubs want to sign him for such high wages ?
@@dreadful_name2924 Ravel Morrison had great moments. My mate Chris had great moments during PE.
@@dreadful_name2924I had a great moment back in the day I saved a goal with my face.
“The United players that left the club - see where they play, how they play, if they play.”
Jose Mourinho
How do you not mention the best example of this. ISCO. He waited and waited and he’s now been MOTM 12x
Didnt Isco just fail a lot of medicals at different clubs and that was why he was so long without a club?
He disappointed many by not staying at West Ham. The only reason he went to Forest was more money. He was first choice and was playing well.
He had stability and didnt want it
Surely the worst of all options was to choose nothing and spend over 6 months regressing and declining professionally?
Not joining West Ham was his biggest mistake!. He was so good that year!
Trust me, you wouldn't recognise him after he got a contract. Lucky escape for West Ham....then again, most football fans are blinkered, lack real football knowledge and not too bright 😏
@@jackdominiak445 source: literally trust me bro
@@RobertDoornbosF1 well the source would actually be the fact that he went on trial afterwards and was rejected 😂

This is what happens when a footballer becomes a social media "influencer". Him and Pogba are good examples
it really is amazing what level ex-United players play at
Even more amazing is the quality of football that current united players play at.
He did the United special.
Him not joining West Ham was his downfall... he could've been a star there....
Always feel like he’s younger than he is , crazy to think he might retire soon
He is 32 not even 32 so few years career for him
Seems simplistic but to me Lingard was always one of those legend in his own mind players. Someone who thought he could make it somewhere like United and someone who wanted to be a Ronaldo or a Messi without the hard work and focus on the football that those types of players have.
Remember the WestHam Lingard
The moment he started referring to himself a J-Lingz it was over. That’s the point his 100% focus on football died. He was average anyway. Had about 2 good seasons.
Sad if he went to West Ham all would have been well
Please, do a video on Zagallo! His tactical contributions, both as a player and as a manager, aren't talked about enough!
He's a perfect example of someone who gives more importance to social media than his football career
This feels like the type of video his agent asked you to do. Pumping him up when it reality his last spell at forrest was very poor. He's not cut out for the big leauges anymore should take a championship or mls contract
Exciting young player, great career ahead of him
Like Lingaard, that joke is well past it's peak. Time to put it to bed
@@jmckendry84 heh.... my youngster jesse... he will not be limited by bed times....
His talent is very "doubtable".
just another footballer that cared about social media more than their football career
Even if he is good enough to get into a squad, any club would be stupid to touch him. He alienates fans and I’d guess he does the same to senior squad members.
For me he is still a young prospect
😂😂 se what you did there
Even in 2050 he will remain young prospect 😅
heh... a young and promising youngster... my boy jesse..
Ayo, the audio is in spanish now? This is great and well made👏
If Lingard is going for the MLS, it would suit his brand and style of play.
As long as he spends his time remaining fit, he should be fine for whichever team he ends up joining.
"brand" lol
He stopped caring about being a footballer and just wanted to be a star instead. He could get a club if he really wanted to.
Dayum, almost every year "What happened to Jesse Lingard?" pops into my youtube feed
As as United fan, I have very rarely been impressed with him. His time at West Ham was over hyped, scoring a few counters against weakened teams that seemed to be his only highlight.
32 caps for England and I can barely remember anything he did in that shirt.
he just looked different for man utd on the field towards the end, yet he found his spark that he had before at west ham and had that permanent cheeky smile he had before. it was mistake not staying there had he done so i think moyes would have made full use of him.
Always a legend in his own mind only. Will start a rapping career before long alongside his clothing brand. What a do do.
Iam waiting for another interview where he blames depression and refuses to take any accountability.
The lack of sympathy is incredible
He joined FC Seoul of K League 1
Loved watching Lingard at west ham, he was a perfect fit for them and should of stayed there. But he was sold dreams and had the chance to play with his idol back at united. I feel sorry for him about that. But he should have gone back to west ham when he was a free agent in 2022
It's easy to envisage quite a few members of the current Man Utd squad ending up in this situation.
I'm sorry but Ozil doesn't fall in the same category as Lingard and their cases are very different
Ozil and Lingard? You must be a Man Utd fan! LMAO. Just like Martial, and Pogba. Notice a pattern? The only thing that these trash are devoted to are themselves.
Ozil isn’t even in the conversation with Lingaard
I remember seeing him zip this insane diagonal ball across his backyard towards a wheelie bin (well over 40yrs) during the pandemic and it rattled the rim but popped out. His response: “I’ll take that.” His career in a nutshell.
0:04 - 30 months ago*
he hasn't got the chops to play at the highest level. I said he'd be great for the MLS when we released him. He can go out there and have fun on social media, rub shoulders with b-tech celebs, he doesn't have to integrate language-wise and the league's poor enough that he could actually do somewhat well there
The lad was a lifelong United fan who wanted to chance to go back and be a part of his boyhood club again
It was said that Solksjaer told him he would feature in the first team at United after impressing at West Ham & they didn't want to sell him to a team they saw as a "rival" at the time either so him going back to United wasn't strange at all.
He joined Forest over West Ham when his contract expired for money. They offered a bigger salary and massive bonuses as mentioned which West Ham simply weren't willing to match given his form has been notoriously inconsistent

Lingard to Luton has an interesting ring in my mind
That illustration is doing Lingard soooo dirty 😂😂
Tbh not every footballer sees football as a passion but rather as a job
So some people, like Lingard, just wanted to get out of poverty and once they get that, they are happy and that all
This is so true.

Gio dos Santos is also a player that hasn’t had a club in like 2 years, a Mexico GOAT

He’s still young, give him some time to grow and in a few years he will be in his prime 😊
Him and Dele should do a podcast and have Mourinho as the first guest. It'd break the internet.

Its not a big deal. There are 1.5 Million youth footballers in UK. How many of them can claim to have played for one of the biggest clubs in the world AND scored the winner in an FA Cup Final? He has had a good career.
Nah he should return to Europe
Much the same what happened to players that drift like him....ego and stubbornness with some injuries involved

He's heading to Korea now. Wow.

The pinnacle of lingard career will always be that cameo at west ham, sadly no player is bigger than the club 🥴
Appreciated his tenure at united
This young guy plus young Terry Walcott look like they're just wating for the right move to kickstart a long and glorious career.
They both have such potential.😂🤣😂
Lingard's stock has always been artificially inflated, as with others who made their name at MUFC.
