"Thus, Eric fulfilled his destiny as a speed running up-stabber. The next time we see him he'll be de-aged into a pre-teen in a fighting game." ...Or somewhere else, but that's a spoiler for another game.
Damage boost is when the player accepts to take damage to either be propelled somewhere he couldn't normally reach, or abuse the invincibility frames to pass through enemies (what happens the most in this run with the bone pillars), or just simply gain a few frames by being propelled to the right.
it's like using the temporary invincibility (that's in many, many games that aren't turn-based RPGs, which usually looks like the character blinking in and of existence, or like them pulsing or flashing a certain color, like red in legend of zelda) to go through some obstacles that would otherwise push you back
It's a fighting game term. Footsies is typically thought of as the relatively close range back and forth movement and spacing game between two characters while they poke with normals. In a lot of traditional fighting games many character's low kicks often times had a good combination of speed and range so it was common to see pro players jocky for position right outside of each other's low kick range in attempt to bait their opponent's kick to whiff so they could counter it with their own. It looked like the characters were playing footsies so the term stuck.
10:52 HOW oes the Geness do this? or that matte, how does iit distort like Mode 7? Ths reminds me of what Angel Island does in Sonic & Knuckles...I guess it's the Genesis' mazing blast processing and however much "mega power"!
I've seen this guy run this game twice and both times calls lvl four a Japanese munitions factory. It's in fucking Germany, what gives it off that it's Japanese? Know so much about this game and yet, don't know that Japan isn't in Europe.
In terms of classicvanias, this one ranks low for me. That final boss rush isn't too exciting, and generally I don't care for the genesis's sound chip. Not to say that the song themselves are bad, some prove how great they are when played in different games. Still, despite some interesting tweaks to the basic mechanics of Castlevania I still prefer 3 and Rondo a whole lot more. My unpopular opinion is ranking SC4 as the lowest of classics, Bloodlines beating it easily for being challenging and having a point with subweapons... Yeah, SC4 is a fine platformer that looks like Castlevania to me for reasons such as this.
It is. Just beaten it on Gens Emulator, literally no boss in this game is hard. The most dangerous boss in game is probably Death with its floating scythes, but if you takes precise jumps to avoid it, its autowin. Dracula absolutely sucks here. None of his 5 forms is dangerous. The most dangerous is his 3rd form when he rapidly drops bombs since you have to time affacks well enough to kill these; the last form when he becomes gray and tosses bones requires you literally to only not to move away when you hit him. When it congrated me and said "NOW TRY ON EXPERT MODE", I was like Naah and alt+f4. PS: At the point of game which is at 17:11 of the speedrun, there is riddiculous bug for which Konami should lay off its programmers: theres high chance cog platforms get bugged and not allow to pass thru, causing 100% death to player. lol
GH Productions No way. This game controlled a lot better, had better bosses, stage design, and was just all around less dickish difficulty-wise. Only thing that’s better in CV3 is the music, at least on the Japanese version with the upgraded sound chip
Did anyone else's balls blow to pieces when he said "Japanese munitions factory"? First of all, Japan is not a European country, and second of all, it's a GERMAN munitions factory. It might seem like a nitpick, but it just pisses the shit out of me when someone gets these things so wrong. But overall, nice speedrunning!
Watching a run like this one makes me think that speedrunning is a form of art. It's beautiful.
Stage 2 music shows off Circle of the Moon's entire soundtrack. It's pleasant to listen to at least.
Ikr? so good! i have it on my phone
Wait. Blond Spaniard with incredible upper body strength and jumping around, decent looks... Eric Lecarde is Vega's grandfather.
I need more Klaige in my life.
Klaige can go burn
Hes doing a 24 hour bloodlines stream on his twitch on 6/8/18
This is one of the most impressive speedruns I've seen in a while.
Excellent runner.
*IRON BLUE INTENTION INTENSIFIES*
i love this game so much! can't get enough of it.
Best old school castlevania.
Absolutely stunning run. Excellent runner.

And/or.... a cowboy..... XD
"Fun Fact Spoiler Alert: #EricLeCarde is a child in #CastleVaniaJudgement on #Nintendo #Wii." 🤔😕💭🎓🎮🕹️📱💻💿📺🔍🔎📕📖🔮
@@WarriorKiyo That's Ghost Cowboy Daddy to you
Eric still looks handsome in Portrait of Ruins.
The time in this video is actually around 31:51, the first one was done on kill and not on orb grab
+acw215079 Typo. Thanks for pointing it out.
@ 23:03 Having never seen this game before ... `Surprise Mothra` was quite that ... 🦋
Masterpiece. One day I will play all the old Castlevanias.
The best classicvania!
Klaige really likes the word "caveat".
DreadfulMatt and "colleeshun"
an aesthetically beautiful game
Low-key a much better game than CV4.
Did anyone else notice the "Segway Knight" at 21:55 - 21:59 ? Konami saw the Segway coming. LOL!
One of my favourite games in the series. I wish we got to see more of Eric Lacarde in future instalments
I mean, you got to see him in Portrait of Ruin
In the context of this game what is a damage boost? Thanks.

23:56 Things like this...can't be described; Th only way I could see that working is if scanlines were vertical but they're horizontal!
I just wanted to say great job on the video game lets play!
Is that punch mini boss glitch real? I don't think i ever had it happen to me
You can tell that this runner rehearsed his commentary for weeks before this day.
12:40 Look closely at the tower...it's still doing it! Is that...a scalie efect? That isnt as advanced as what happeed inside that tower...
I think the idea is that Eric is going around the tower, so the direction it's leaning in changes.
Quite surprised Versailles is featured in a CV game
Level 4 was not Japan it is a German munitions factory, bloodlines did Europe they did Japan for Aria with Soma drac reincarnated
1:43.
What does he mean when he says 'footsies?'

I see.
Japanese munition factory? You mean German? 14:47

Tepper Bloodlines is based all over Europe
Didn't know this one existed. Kinda like the look of it better than many of the SNES ones. Which where.. just ugly.
aquaman LUL

This game looks easy
