I managed to find one where the paint of the eyes was done so thick that they are just solid blue... no detail, no lines, just solid sky blue. it is perfect.
What makes his arms even weirder is that they are painted blue in the spot S of the end of AoE/TLK locations but still have the early AoE sculpt. Even more odd is that the SDCC version still has the old arms but uses the flame detail from the later design.
Somehow I really like the all black wheels. But I'm totally with you when it comes to the eyes. They are sticking out way too far. And his mouthplate should have been painted wider.
It looks to me that Optimus's head's painting tries to resemble the older version of him (TF-TF3), because his new version's head has a lot of silver. Does anyone think the same thing ?
I'm gonna be that weird guy that says he prefers the look of the AOE toy's over-sized armor flaps over the clean screen accurate ones on the TLK toy. I'll admit the new toy is clearer built better, but I like the look of the big sweeping plates the old one has for some reason.
You're letting the eyes have this much of an effect on your opinion of the toy, but you think the massive gap those butterfly joints cause is okay? O_o
One addition I feel would have improved this toy a bit would be if the roof of the truck rotated on his back to form a more natural, less backpack-looking back curve.
ConstantScribbles No. The "Premier Edition" is basically the name for the regular "main" movie line now to distinguish it from the One Step Changers and such.
This is one of the greatest movie line figures from all 5 movies it is sleek well detailed and as just enough articulation also a decent tra formation like if u agree

hasbro did a repaint of this figure for sdcc with more movie accurate robot mode paint apps in cluding weapons and chest panels

if you compare this toy to the AOE voyager Galvatron they have very similar transformation features

Gaps from (probably unintentional) articulation bug me 100x less than really bad eyes on this guy
