- Welcome to Good Hope Cannery in Rivers Inlet, BC, Canada.
Guests have arrived! We've been waiting and preparing for almost 2 months now. We had a wonderful group join us at the cannery for a little visit. They explored the area, visited Hakai and Owekeno Village.
Kathryn arrived with the heli to take the guests on some of their adventures and I was lucky enough to be invited on a little get away to Calvert Island with Chelsey, Tony and the dogs.

I've been a chef for 33 yrs, started in parents resturant too Sous Chef on West Coast Van Isl long beach. Just have to say nice placement of your food. Was watching you both plating and wanted to jump in beside you guys 😂😊😅

It is, is t it. Went to those places when I lived in OF. Loved the trail walk and hearing the surf the closer you got to the beach. Only went to west beach. Don’t think there were trails to the others back in the 60s.
Thank you. Took me back to my sailing days to Calvert island and that beach. Swamped the dinghy trying to land, got laughed at.

What a wonderful video, Jenny. You do such a wonderful job. Amazing work in your kitchen helping to make your guests have a wonderful visit. My Dad used to go up to the Hakai Pass area, for a fishing break. He was Vice President of Canfor in Vancouver. Being a logging company they had the use of either a chopper or a beautiful Grumann Goose.
You have such great Chi, , , , , The literal translation of Chi, would be Life's Breath. I have the Chinese character, as a tattoo, on my shoulder blade.

Hakai is a cool area, Ive only ever flown over and landed once to drop off a staff member. Im sure I was in a Goose.

Wow! Now I understand what you mean It's no regular fishing lodge! I really Miss rivers and I also miss the kitchen. I only work the kitchen when I was In school. But I really miss the excitement And hard work.of it. It is so cool that you can be a part of something so special. A full salute to the owner. Obviously incredible people to work with.

Good work Jenny, your awesome video takes me back to my trips to the fishing lodges in Milbanke Sound and how those chefs rolled. They didn't have what you have like fresh herbs and that loving touch! Keep up the good work Jenny and keep your videos coming.

Wow, if I wasn't so jealous of your life there at Good Hope, I'd be envious...lol. To top it off, you get a ride along in a helicopter. It has been years and years since I was in a helicopter. Your videos are really good Jenny, as are the many dishes you come up with. I wish I could have tasted your pesto. Just the scenery alone, would be enough to make up for the seclusion of Good Hope, although I think if I was ever fortunate enough to visit, I might not want to leave. Don't get me wrong, living on Vancouver Island, the scenery is pretty spectacular here too. I look forward to your next submission. 😍😍🌹🌹💖💖👌👌👏👏👍👍
Thank you so much for that. It is truly an incredible place to live and work. I love how secluded it is. The people I work with make it easier for me to be up here from my friends and family for such a long period of time. There are many highs and lows and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Haha right? They are experts at riding the heli, they all love it so much. Kathryn is an expert at flying also, Im sure she can feel the extra weight when taking off.

Wow thanks Daniel! What area in BC are you from? I fell in love with the west coast when I was very young. I am so grateful that my job takes me to this beautiful area every summer. It’s quite the place!
@@jenny_adrift I grew up near UBC. My dad was a ship captain and we always had boats of varying kinds growing up. Ive been gone 20 years now but I get back often. Id love to spend a few days at Good Hope. I imagine it's ultra expensive (people coming in on helicopters...wow) but to me it would be worth it.

Hi Elaine, thanks for watching my video and leaving a comment. I started working here in 2018. I took a year off and decided to come back. I love this place.
I lived in Port Hardy and worked in the Bookstore at Guidos before retiring in 2020. You look familiar and I seem to recall having a conversation with you one time. I think you were headed home and we spoke about how exhausting your job was. After seeing your video I understand why!
How about training them dogs to pull the ramp work..
