I got a Raspberry Pi 4 4GB second hand and a 1080p webcam from my local store. Took me all but 30 minutes to set up Octoprint with an appropriate plugins (and I never done this before). Overall cost, around $60. And I'm getting far better picture quality with far less involved setup light-wise. I'd see a point to this if at least the video quality was exceptional, but this is just horrible and grainy, with huge lack of details... Sorry, I'm no hating on your video, it's great as usual, just the product baffles me.
Got one of these for my Elegoo Neptune 3, seems everything works fine feature wise minor a slight delay in time estimations / display of some precise info like what layer its on (it sometimes works sometimes doesnt show)... file uploads work too... very happy with it.
Finally, something that is plugin play with an FDM printer! I am looking forward to getting one of these, I don't care about it's weight nor if the thing sits up for a bone! Look at all the crap you have to do with a Pi. That Beagle is good enough for the girls I go out with, I just want it to work when I plug it in and go like a Prusa printer. I be back to the fireside chat next time I ran out of beer thanks for the info Bryan
I started working with the pi 4b 2+ years ago and was never able to get it work remotely. The Beagleprint/cam on the other hand was up and running remotely in no time. I love the option of being able to print right from my computer or laptop without having to copy files to a micro SD card. I will have to give the pi another try to see if it's ant easier but 2 years ago I just couldn't get it to work.
Why does it sound like GladOS gradmother ;) Is pausing of the print and movement to the side mandatory, and it can be swithed off to get a more natural looking timelapse?
So I have seen mixed answers to this question. Do you know if you can monitor and control the camera and printer even if you are away from it and not on the same wifi network the camera is on? Thanks.
I've seen another review of this product on youtube, and my first thought was, "How do I place this thing so it gets a good view?". That review didn't address that question at all, but yours does in detail, so thanks for that! I'm curious what hardware they put inside this thing.. It's probably something similar to a Raspberry Pi, but these days those are so expensive. If someone wanted to buy a fully capable R-Pi with a camera, speaker, Wifi, power supply, etc. maybe they can just buy one of these things instead :) I like the "single-mindedness" of this design and the cute shape, but the mounting is really lacking, and I think it ought to have built-in lighting too... obviating the need for your clever ring light setup. For me, I think I mostly don't care about making "magic print" (for lack of a better term) videos, but I do care about figuring out what went wrong during a print. So just some kind of time lapse of the actual printing process would be better for me... so there's no need to park the hot end away to get a good view. Is there a mode of recording like this? Thanks again for the good work you do!
hello my friend, by chance did you do some 3d printing with more than one color using pause or Z-offset in Cura using beagle application, it doesn't work for me, completely ignore the gcode.
Here is a question I can't seem to find the answer to anywhre else> I know I can download files remotely to this device/camera. My question is can I then print directly from the printer ? in other words I want to sent the file remotely to the camera, but when I get home I want to start the printer manually. I don't want to start the printer with the app or a pc ? does this make sense ?? I'm simply looking for a way to send my files directly to my printer, but when I get home I want to be able to load these files normally using the printer and not the software.
Bryon. Thank You 🙏. For that review. I think for what I want it to , it can. Maybe down the road When I get more 3D knowledge, I’ll upgrade to raspberry. As long as they get this chip shortage fixed. Again. Thank you 😊
Can you post a video on using an android tv box in place of a pi they are going for around $40 us and it sounds promising you load octo4a and it works outta the box
Mintion identified an issue with the original Beagle, requiring a hardware modification on the Beagle to work correctly with the MK3. It looks like they sell an already-modified version they're labeling as a "for Prusa 3D Printer" variant. Here's a link to the page on their site. You should see the "for Prusa" button there.
@@BV3D yeah I seen that, but haven't seen any reviews yet . I was just curious., as I have no need for a octoprint network( only have 2 fdm printers and 1 resin ) so a raspberry pi setup is is a bit much just so I can have fancy time-lapse videos . Thank you Bryan for taking the time to read and reply.
1:47 that comparison is not fair, because a Raspberry Pi 3 is just fine for running Octoprint and in fact recommended due to the additional cooling the RPi 4 needs. A RPi 3 is only €40 or so. You still would need the webcam though. But I'm more worried about this thing being cloud dependent and locked, so you also cannot work around any stuff that doesn't work. Also, it wouldn't be the first device secretly reselling Octoprint.
I maintain that the comparison is valid. I can't find a 3B+ in stock for under about $160. The one I found from CanaKit at that $160 price is part of a bundle with (admittedly) all the things you'd need to get it running if you were starting from zero. But every single place that lists the 3B+ at $35 shows it as out of stock. Personally, I do prefer OctoPrint. It's just *_way_* more polished, and *_way_* more expandable, and *_way_* more customizable. But I also have a bunch of 3B+ units that I've bought over the years (when the prices were reasonable), so I have silicon to run it on. I agree with you on your point about cloud connectedness. What happens when the company (or their servers) go away?
@@BV3D Just because it is worth a mention. I switched out the Pi3b units from my two enders (max3v2 and a 3v2) to use them in gaming cases for emulation. Using Pi Zero 2 units for the printers instead. I have had no issues with the zero2 units whatsoever. Though like other Pi units they can be thin on the ground or exorbitantly gouge priced in some countries.
Hello! I have this camera and love it! Just wondering if you are having issues downloading videos from the phone app to your phone? I am currently running it on an Android, and the download button either doesn't respond, or the app closes.
You do get a few controls with this product but nowhere near as many as Octoprint which doesent actually need a Raspberry Pi as it can be run on a $29 Orange Pi 2 Zero which is easily available ,or that old PC, laptop, phone or tablet that sits redundant, throw in a cheap webcam and it comes in cheaper than the Beagle and much much more powerfull and doesent look like a baby monitor!
Didn't realize it was that huge. No good for me with my enclosed printers where there aint enough room to swing a mouse. Why the extra 5 bucks for being shipped from within the US??? Takes just as long as the slow boat from china anyways!

I tried to learn from other channels and you make it the easiest. Keep up the awesome videos!
Excelent feature, setup and use coverage. I've been asked a lot about them recently. Good to see your take on them.

Just one question: Is it housebroken?
It hasn't pooped anywhere that I can tell.

Great informative video Bryan. Is there anyway now to connect to the camera from any location or do I need to be on the same lan?

How is the quality for this cam and do u need an raspberry pi for this cam as well
you need to make the retraction settings match your slicers settings... no more zits.
