    I am 54 and have been a fitness enthusiast for much of my adult life. Tried many strategies over the years with success but eventually I can’t sustain. I get tired. Tired of the routine, tired of the work. There have been at times significant injuries (workout related) along the way and set backs and loss of momentum at times. I do have a pretty good set up at home. I have found your videos have been so instrumental this time around to really work the recomposition plan. I needed a slow consistent food friendly sustainable lifestyle plan. I was really lost for a while. I just wanted you to know that your videos were so inspiring and spoke to me in the perfect way that I am able to be kind to myself and be sooooo much more patient and SHOW UP for myself. Your advice about not having to be dripping in sweat and not be sore have been a game changer. Also taking the stress about cardio off is amazing. I feel a little goes a long way with cardio. I am really seeing great results. So I am finding slow gains with consistency are really working. I really believe what I am doing is working for the long haul. This is EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you thank you thank you ! 🙏
    P.S. Tracking weights with My Fitness Pal..ON POINT! Really see the progressive overload at work….again Thank you. You are very inspirational and a great motivator 😅❤

    Thank you very much Michelle. I've always done my resistance training at HOME with sets of dumbbells. 4-5 days a week. 2-3 cardio sessions per week. I've been telling myself I need to do some mobility sessions on my off days. Working out at home fits my schedule and personality. Lower possibility of interruptions or not being able to use some equipment due to somebody else using it. My workouts are from 40-60 minutes in duration. 60 seconds rest on isolation exercises and 90 seconds on compound exercises. I'm 59 and have always been physically active. I'm VERY fortunate that I GREATLY enjoy cardio and resistance training🙂

    i only have added dumbell at my home is that enough for seeing muscle gain with fat loss? and how long will it take for seeing the difference or a change ? and is there any way to get rid of the hip dips cause i have heard people talking abt building muscle on that area so it will get covered ? THANK YOU SO MUCH for all these information it means a lot

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes working with dumbbells all the same principles I talk an out this video will apply too. As for hip dips I would say everyone is different and you can you really spit reduce, but building muscle in your glutes will help 👌🏼💪🏻

    Thank you for all you do!! I find myself referring to your videos often. QUESTION regarding calorie burn: all of the online calculators put the calorie burn for weightlifting way below, say, circuit training- but when I lift I know I’m working just as hard as I do in a circuit workout! I huff & puff, have to take breaks to catch my breath, and sweat like crazy. I don’t see how that can be a lower calorie burn 🤷🏼‍♀️😖 Can you comment on that?

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I personally recommend not relying on activity trackers to provide accurate calorie burn. I say in strength workouts - lift heavy to build muscle not burn calories. Cardio to burn calories but this won’t change your calorie intake so just take it with a grain of salt :) (is that the saying?? lol!)

    ❤🎉 thanks for the great beginner tips. So I have separated abs muscles. Did your babies separate your muscles

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, my first was 8lbs and just a little separation, my second was 9lbs and more separation for sure! I was able to heal it up with lot's of core strengthening and pelvic floor work. I have a video on my channel talking about diastasis recti on my channel and how to help heal it here :) th-cam.com/video/FOLxx0vnfCQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BQ23DSybBjMfsmeV

    Any advice for us short girls and weight training? Every time I attempt to lift weights I end up looking like shrek. Tfs

    • @MichelleRoots
      @MichelleRoots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      lol I had to laugh at this… 😂 1. I’m sure you don’t look like Shrek lol! 2. I would say make sure you are strength training but also hitting daily steps or doing some form of zone 2 cardio a few days a week in combination with strength training. 3. Of course make sure nutrition is on point. I have a video on my channel talking about how to calculate a calorie deficit for petite women, you can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/mwmXzfRp08g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PiguDQOjWDbLbVd-
