Curse Concept: The Harlequin's Last Breath - If a King were to execute the court Jester for something said or done the Jester may place a curse with their dying breath. This curse would come into effect when the King is dying. The full effects are the Jester slain would rise as a spirit and bring ruin to the kingdom. it all would end with the jester killing the king and becoming a Harlequin King. (For those unaware, Harlequin's are creatures that dress in a Mask and Diamond spotted clothing as they lead devils around to bring ruin. They are thought to be the inspiration for Court Jesters in that the Jesters entire job was to tell the King when they fucked up or were being incredibly stupid. And as that was their job they were *Typically* trusted more than anyone else in the court at least by records I could find. Sort of a demon on the kings shoulder.)

This song: *Apperas on my for you page again, after me saving it a year ago* Me wondering how this crawled back out from the pits of hell of my playlist: ...
I am the Jester, my job's to entertain And it seems that soon enough it too will be my job to reign Over all that you see, over all that you know As the king is slowly dying, any moment he could go Yes the king is slowly dying, any moment he will go Oh! Sweet memories, come rushing back to me As I trace my fingers on these haggard walls within your keep Though my exile still stands, I heard my duty call to me Because I am the Court Jester, I've grown tired of my sleep After all, I am the jester, and I've tired of my sleep What good is a crown if the brow it sits on is that of a dead man I'll wear my cap and painted smile with pride, my trusty baton in my hand And you will see me, sire, I'll make my way back to you You cannot stop me sire, your time is up, I see right through you Though resolute you may pretend to be inside your walls The people soon will realize that your feeble body can't forestall The inevitable end that we all will one day meet You are human, you are dying, yes I know it's bittersweet But you knew this day would come, and you can't borrow steal or cheat Yes, your maker gave you time, but you've run out, and soon you'll meet I was awoken by a nibbling in my brain A single thought, just like a knot, a stone, a weight I can't explain That sat there pulling me to consciousness and waking soon I found Myself enrenched in ancient earth, with roots and vines my arms were bound And in this post-hibernal state my mind was filled with clouds of doubt Were these my memories? or something else? and soon I felt the urge to get out Tearing, ripping, painful as it was Vines and leaves gave way easy just because All that's left in this world is decay; Soon I knew what caused me to awake With a newfound memory after rest I felt something bubbling in my chest Soon I felt myself losing control Peals of laughter rang into the distance from my soul I cannot recognize a single thing in front of me The world as I knew it now is gone, is this reality? Absurd and nonsensical, fantastical and daft All that is left to do is sit right down and laugh (hee hee hee) Oh this world that I left you in Has been tainted by your sin And as such I have now taken it upon myself To reinstate the reign of laughter and in health I will return Oh I am making my way back I will return Soon the people will remember the reason why they burn And the fires in their might will start to turn Pointing fists and shouting out with no more reason for concern Soon you will see! the world will turn upon its head again! Just you hope that you can see it 'fore you're dead! Foolish king, you sit in empty meaning on your throne But in my time away you've ended up alone Oh, all the power in the world could never save you now As the time at which your curtain's called draws nearer, get ready to take your bow The age of reason is now drawing to a close! And now I, the mere Court Jester, will his majesty depose I will tip the gilded throne, in me the people will repose Because I am the Court Jester, not all thorns come with a rose After all, I am the jester, and this future I propose: Let the fool, let me, the jester, bring the olden tales to close Let the fool, let me, the jester, a new saga now compose

Some parts of the song are a bit wordy, probably could've used a bit of a shave, but god the good parts hit HARD. Some absolutely wonderful lyrical flow.
@@Void_TheDemonSame, and also like the vibe I get from this is that the king is dying but he's using dark magic to stay alive... AND TELL ME THAT KING SPADE WOULDN'T DO THAT TO KEEP HIS MONARCHY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
That was sadly the last time we heard of Dr. Zevia, as demons took them to the shadow realm, after playing The Court Jester by Thquib, featuring Fukase, in reverse.
The particulars of the story are a bit unclear, but I think the over all plot is this: The Jester, the fool, is opposing the King, and bringing his death. Heavily suggested is the king is defying death in an unnatural manner, and the Jester was brought back to life to do so, becoming a sort of trickster in the process. A jester was a job one had to entertain the royalty in many monarchs across history, literally being called fools as they had to often make fool of themselves to do this. Because of their position in the social structure, they had the ability to often be more straight forward and insulting to kings, often being used in a literary sense to point out the flaws of a king and his country. They also earned a sort of trickster association, as a job Jesters had as well was often to break bad news to a ruler, because their position meant a positive relationship with the king, and often gave them some immunity. (though they could be killed just as easily for their jokes and baring bad news, but a king fickle enough to do so generally didnt have a jester). Basically, their job was to bring humility to the king, under the guise of entertainment, all while bearing this strong association with the classic trope of comedy and tragedy. In this song, the Jester's job is breaking the news of mortality at the beginning. But this I believe is not in order of time: I think this is the near ending of the story, while the mid section of the song is the part where the Jester awakes and rouses the people to rebellion. For some reason or another, the Jester was exiled- or, as the part where they wake up suggests, may have even been killed. But for some reason, theyve woken back up, in a decaying world, where all is different than what they knew it to be. This suggests the king is tyrannical- after all, exiling/killing your own jester shows a heavy ego. As well, that the reason he is alive still is that he has done something supernatural, thus causing the jester to awake. Either by means of putting this right- setting things back into the natural order so to speak, or by ruling themselves. This being the fact that they will compose a new period, and bring the olden times to an end, instilling a reign of laughter. Since the world is decaying and not like it was before, it seems only fitting the Fool reigns.

This hits home for me and I don't know why?
I am the Jester, my job's to entertain
And it seems that soon enough it too will be my job to reign
Over all that you see, over all that you know
As the king is slowly dying, any moment he could go
Yes the king is slowly dying, any moment he will go
Oh! Sweet memories, come rushing back to me
As I trace my fingers on these haggard walls within your keep
Though my exile still stands, I heard my duty call to me
Because I am the Court Jester, I've grown tired of my sleep
After all, I am the jester, and I've tired of my sleep
What good is a crown if the brow it sits on is that of a dead man
I'll wear my cap and painted smile with pride, my trusty baton in my hand
And you will see me, sire, I'll make my way back to you
You cannot stop me sire, your time is up, I see right through you
Though resolute you may pretend to be inside your walls
The people soon will realize that your feeble body can't forestall
The inevitable end that we all will one day meet
You are human, you are dying, yes I know it's bittersweet
But you knew this day would come, and you can't borrow steal or cheat
Yes, your maker gave you time, but you've run out, and soon you'll meet
I was awoken by a nibbling in my brain
A single thought, just like a knot, a stone, a weight I can't explain
That sat there pulling me to consciousness and waking soon I found
Myself enrenched in ancient earth, with roots and vines my arms were bound
And in this post-hibernal state my mind was filled with clouds of doubt
Were these my memories? or something else? and soon I felt the urge to get out
Tearing, ripping, painful as it was
Vines and leaves gave way easy just because
All that's left in this world is decay;
Soon I knew what caused me to awake
With a newfound memory after rest
I felt something bubbling in my chest
Soon I felt myself losing control
Peals of laughter rang into the distance from my soul
I cannot recognize a single thing in front of me
The world as I knew it now is gone, is this reality?
Absurd and nonsensical, fantastical and daft
All that is left to do is sit right down and laugh (hee hee hee)
Oh this world that I left you in
Has been tainted by your sin
And as such I have now taken it upon myself
To reinstate the reign of laughter and in health I will return
Oh I am making my way back I will return
Soon the people will remember the reason why they burn
And the fires in their might will start to turn
Pointing fists and shouting out with no more reason for concern
Soon you will see! the world will turn upon its head again!
Just you hope that you can see it 'fore you're dead!
Foolish king, you sit in empty meaning on your throne
But in my time away you've ended up alone
Oh, all the power in the world could never save you now
As the time at which your curtain's called draws nearer, get ready to take your bow
The age of reason is now drawing to a close!
And now I, the mere Court Jester, will his majesty depose
I will tip the gilded throne, in me the people will repose
Because I am the Court Jester, not all thorns come with a rose

And you will see me, sire, I'll make my way back to you
You cannot stop me, sire, your time is up, I see right through you
Though resolute you may pretend to be inside your walls
The people soon will realize that your feeble body can't forestall
The inevitable end that we all will one day meet
You are human, you are dying, yes, I know it's bittersweet
But you knew this day would come, and you can't borrow steal or cheat
Yes, your maker gave you time, but you've run out, and soon you'll meet
I was awoken by a nibbling in my brain
A single thought, just like a knot, a stone, a weight I can't explain
That sat there pulling me to consciousness and waking soon I found
Myself entrenched in ancient earth, with roots and vines my arms were bound
And in this post-hibernal state, my mind was filled with clouds of doubt
Were these my memories or something else? Soon I felt the urge to get out
Tearing, ripping, painful as it was
Vines and leaves gave way easy just because
All that's left in this world is decay
Soon I knew what caused me to awake
With a newfound memory after rest
I felt something bubbling in my chest
Soon I felt myself losing control
Peals of laughter rang into the distance from my soul
I cannot recognize a single thing in front of me
The world as I knew it now is gone, is this reality?
Absurd and nonsensical, fantastical and daft
All that is left to do is sit right down and laugh
Oh, this world that I left you in
Has been tainted by your sin
And as such I have now taken it upon myself
To reinstate the reign of laughter and in health I will return
Oh, I am making my way back, I will return
Soon the people will remember the reason why they burn
And the fires in their might will start to turn
Pointing fists and shouting out with no more reason for concern
Soon you will see, the world will turn upon its head again
Just you hope that you can see it 'fore you're dead
Foolish king, you sit in empty meaning on your throne
But in my time away you've ended up alone
Oh, all the power in the world could never save you now
As the time at which your curtain's called draws nearer, get ready to take your bow
The age of reason is now drawing to a close!
And now I, the mere court jester, will his majesty depose
I will tip the gilded throne, in me the people will repose
Because I am the court jester, not all thorns come with a rose
After all, I am the jester, and this future I propose
Let the fool, let me, the jester, bring the olden tales to close
Let the fool, let me, the jester, a new saga now compose
