I've watched this so many times now. I really should be asleep, I just love all the comparisons you did between your characters!! Like Reagan's eyes/expression becoming very similar to Phobus' near the end, and how Reagan was crushed like King Bloodrose III and Marie. A very deserving end. The transitions were really good, and I love the scene leading up to ACE's transformation! Idk how you did the whole dang song. Almost 6 minutes, jam-packed with lore, thought, and very expressive art. I feel the effort put into this and want to say thank you! I have more to say but I'm really tired and need sleep. Will probably rewatch again later when looking for inspiration to finish my own animatics or comics.

Really digging your spin on the story of the song, the classic “hero vs illegitimate king” narrative, kinda reminds me a bit of Danny Kaye’s “The Court Jester”
STORY (Please read after watching the video, I recommend it. Or if you want, watch while reading this): The court jester entertains the masses, especially for the royal court along with the King and the Prince. Outside the castle walls lies a small flower shop owned by a braided woman and a small girl wearing a flower crown, spreading happiness through natural beauty. But unfortunately the king’s end is slowly approaching him. Despite having eyes that seems to give pity, the Prince hides a sinister smile that the Court Jester notices while keeping a smile. The Jester and the little flower crown girl smiles, happy for spreading happiness and joy among humans, since it’s not a common occurrence for their kind to be able to make humans smile… [Prologue] ACE remembers the time when his King pats him on the back with Mary by his side while staring at the castle doors. Mary gives ACE a small push on the back to motivate him to keep it up and make more people smile and spread joy and happiness. ACE smiles knowing that this is the Mary je always knew and went to perform his job a The Court Jester. In the bazaar, Prince Reagan strolls around with Commander Redeye and spotted a flower shop with a flower crowned girl. To his surprise the girl has red eyes which scared and shocked him. Accusing her for dwelling in “his” kingdom and for being a menace to the masses. Hearing this Marie Marguerite, the owner of the shop, interrupted the Prince saying that she never hurt anyone. The Prince, disgusted by Marie’s comment, was about to accuse her for being a criminal for talking ill to the crowned Prince but was interrupted by Mary who was handing him a red rose covered with a cloth thick enough to cover its thorns completely, as a gesture of kindness and friendship to help resolve the issue. The Prince declines the offer aggressively that shook everyone in the bazaar especially King Ande who was sitting in his room watching over the city. The king handed a scroll to ACE who was quietly sitting behind the king. Prince Reagan bursts into his grandfather’s room to complain but saw him unresponsive and told the Commander to calm the guards. Checking his pulse, Prince Reagan concludes that the King was dead while wearing the smiling in joy, and took the throne as the new king, finally… Night falls and ACE flies back home to Marie’s house where a painful surprise awaits him. After having his lower jaw head butted by Mary who was laughing and cheering as she was finally able to land a hit on ACE, Mary noticed that the wimping jester holds a scroll that bears a familiar insignia. [Backstory] A black demonic figure was found and approached by The Vampire King Bloodrose III and his granddaughter Mary Bloodrose. Instead of vanquishing the demon, The Vampire King decided to make it his personal guard and the court jester of the Bloodrose Kingdom. The king gave it the name ACE and clothes. Realising that it is actually a guy, he king made sure the clothes are suitable for males. As ACE walks in the halls examining the clothes the King gave him, Mary interrupts him to give a red rose. She wanted to give it to ACE to make him feel more comfortable and welcomed in the kingdom, and luckily ACE accepts it. The Demon Court Jester performs his first job in the king’s throne room where the king invited human relatives, other royal families, citizens and servants as well. Using his Card Magic, the crowd became amazed, but ACE goofed up at one point and a ball smashed his nose. The King and Mary laughed it off and also the crowd, filling the room with laughter, joy and happiness. ACE, seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces, made his heart and body more at ease as he now knows that even the ugliest beings can still bring good into this world. He smiled and laughed for the first time after arriving into the kingdom. [Backstory 2, The Fall of the Bloodrose Kingdom] Chaos and Havoc filled the kingdom and the throne room was filled with flames and destruction. The Vampire King has fallen and Mary has become the last of the Bloodroses. The castle servants and the other vampire families tried to fend off the threat but their strength had been weakened by an unknown force. ACE escaped through the window as a huge figure looms into the throne room. Being chased by the huge figure, ACE ran into the woods while healing Mary in his hands. At last, the huge figure cuts off ACE’s feet and rendered him from running. The huge armoured figure stabbed ACE’s hands making sure he doesn’t interfere and grabbed Mary by the neck with a bloodied dagger in his hands. King Ande and Commander Redeye, who was a normal knight then, interrupted the huge figure who happens to be Prince Phobus who was the crowned prince at the time. While explaining his reason for raiding the kingdom for the Softheart Kingdom’s benefit, ACE saw the most heartbreaking and painful view that he ever had as Count Crimson, Lady Camellia, Anna, Jagger, Scruffy and his King flashes into his eyes. A shark’s tail, a wolf’s tail and a jar with eyeballs of vampires was tied onto Prince Phobus’ waist as he laughs in accomplishment and joy which ended quickly… ACE turned into a berserker form of his original demon body and massacred the knights and MANTIS, the Court mage of the Softheart Kingdom at the time. He captured King Ande and Redeye with his tails while holding Phobus’ eyeballs in his bloodied hands. Before ACE could finish it off, Mary stopped and snapped him back to normal. ACE stopped and tended to Mary’s wound but his strength has weakened greatly. Coincidentally a caravan heading to the Softheart Kingdom was passing by and the four hitched a ride. Marie offered her hospitality and gave a flower crown to Mary to ease her mind. King Ande offered ACE a job as his Court Jester and spy which ACE hesitated but accepts at last since that’s all he can do at the moment. After saying goodbye to Mary for his day-to-day job as the jester, Mary helped Marie in her flower shop and made a hefty amount of flower crowns and gifted them to any passers. [Present] The now Prince Reagen has become King and ordered the knights to kill the Court officials, take from the citizens using any means and burn down Marie’s house. Havoc filled the kingdom as Mary and ACE tries to help Marie as she is about to suffer the same fate as King Bloodrose III. Marie smiles to Mary to comfort her that everything will be fine, until the roof collapses… King Reagen rules over the kingdom, but the citizens wouldn’t accept it as they flooded the front of the castle. Torches, pitchforks, clubs, knives, daggers and other items are used in this uproar. Citizens aren’t the only ones in the uprising, several knights rebelled, visitors took out their weapons to aid them and wizards cast their spells. King Reagan orders the knights to hold the door, not realising the danger from behind. King Reagan looks behind to see a Jester with horns and a flower crown girl with two axes ready to fight. As King Reagan takes out and readies his sword, a bracelet of vampire eyes were seen on his wrist. ACE kept himself composed while Mary no longer cries and faces the enemy in front. King Reagan produced a huge slash from the sword which tore apart the castle walls, luckily ACE and Mary dodged before it hit them. But then, ACE decided to bow down to the new King. Mary was shocked to see this and King Reagan was laughing out loud as he finally thinks that he convinced the jester to be on his side. But that gesture made by ACE wasn’t a submission, it was more of a sign of farewell… The ceiling collapsed, crushing and destroying all that’s inside the throne room. This also included the destruction of the whole castle. Commander Redeye and other Knights brought the citizens, visitors and others to safety as the castle collapses. Mary dumbfounded by ACE’s “obvious” plot, laughed awkwardly as ACE takes his mask off and laughed along as well, as the castle collapses beneath them. [Present, Days Later] The sun shines through the trees covering the abandoned castle path as the hooded vampire girl puts down a bouquet of flowers in front of the Bloodrose Castle to finally be able to pay her respects after all that happened. Fuji, Budak and Marie are resting on the caravan as ACE calls out to Mary and Commander Redeye. With a happy smile, Mary waves back as they have finally reached an ending… hopefully…. *Sorry if it’s a bit lengthy, I tried to make the narration as summarised as possible. But I hope that at least this clears up the story!!
FUN FACT: Mary and Marie has initials that are pronounced the same way, and ACE finds it hard to call one of them out. So Mary decided to give Marie a nickname… MaMa, (MA)rie (MA)rguerite. Marie hesitated, but ACE finds it easy to say so Marie accepts it *ACE actually doesn’t know the meaning of Mama

At this point, most animatics just remind me about the four magical girls in library of ruina and lobotomy Corp. Magical girl of love represented by a heart. Happiness represented by a diamond. Justice represented by spades and courage represented by clubs. Over time, their values shifted in ways that left them shells of their former selves, corrupting them into a state of monstrosity. At some point after this, a jester showed up. Representing the fool reversed, he had the powers of emptiness and nothingness. He came to represent the beliefs that nothing in the world had any meaning. That was the jester of nihil and the four magical girls.
I absolutely love the transitions, designs, and the overall story. But the lines were too messy so it was hard for me to keep track of what was happening- I kinda liked the staging, but with the lines and the pacing it was hard to know what was happening without my brain trying to figure out what was happening before and then trying to figure out what was happening now, then getting the context and then being confused again and the cycle continues. I had to watch this twice to try and figure out what the full context of some of the frames were while frantically reading the story below, like with the battle scene I really like it, I’m quite inspired myself. I was just, and still kinda am, a bit confused-

I absolutely love the transitions, designs, and the overall story.
But the lines were too messy so it was hard for me to keep track of what was happening-
I kinda liked the staging, but with the lines and the pacing it was hard to know what was happening without my brain trying to figure out what was happening before and then trying to figure out what was happening now, then getting the context and then being confused again and the cycle continues.
I had to watch this twice to try and figure out what the full context of some of the frames were while frantically reading the story below, like with the battle scene
I really like it, I’m quite inspired myself.
