Sadly I have to agree. I don't like to be extreme in my judgments but seriously we have to get real at this point. The only way back is for strong men to make hard decisions, since it's been mainly weak men making weak decisions; causing a massive long-term impact that is almost impossible to reverse now. @@genzen6129 A couple of things: Firstly, I do know quite a few people who have learnt an instrument since childhood and are now professional musicians - some of them classical, some jazz, some pop. I don't know what you would call top level exactly, but their instruments are the tools of their Trade and most are employed by orchestra houses, venues, ensembles or studios for session work. Only a couple I know of went down the more pop route and are likely earning big money. Second, even if you don't end up doing the identical thing later on, the ability to dedicate yourself to something and display a disciplined work ethic is a habit, or like.a muscle, which can be developed and applied to various things. Someone who never does any physical exercise is unlikely to be able to get up one day and suddenly run a marathon. While a person who say regularly goes cycling is at least likely to be able to run much further, even though cycling and running aren't exactly the same mechanisms.

I've lived in florida almost my whole life and seeing snow on the beach for my first time seeing snow was pretty jarring lol
the first time I saw snow was in 3rd grade, but it would just melt when it landed, didn't build up at all. Recently read a book called "Affirmative action empire" and it kinda eerie seeing current america going through the same path russians have gone through during the USSR in late 70's.

Sadly I have to agree. I don't like to be extreme in my judgments but seriously we have to get real at this point. The only way back is for strong men to make hard decisions, since it's been mainly weak men making weak decisions; causing a massive long-term impact that is almost impossible to reverse now. Decisions that won't look "nice", which Canadians are literally allergic to. Otherwise the country is completely lost. I've carved out my niche where I can die a good death (hopefully) but I do plan to move to the US at some point in the future if I can.

@@genzen6129 A couple of things: Firstly, I do know quite a few people who have learnt an instrument since childhood and are now professional musicians - some of them classical, some jazz, some pop. I don't know what you would call top level exactly, but their instruments are the tools of their Trade and most are employed by orchestra houses, venues, ensembles or studios for session work. Only a couple I know of went down the more pop route and are likely earning big money.
Second, even if you don't end up doing the identical thing later on, the ability to dedicate yourself to something and display a disciplined work ethic is a habit, or like.a muscle, which can be developed and applied to various things. Someone who never does any physical exercise is unlikely to be able to get up one day and suddenly run a marathon. While a person who say regularly goes cycling is at least likely to be able to run much further, even though cycling and running aren't exactly the same mechanisms.
