That's great you were able to find a NOS carb that resolved the problem! I had an '84 125 Elite exactly like yours, except my was beat to crap when I bought it for $150 (gotta love that pop-up headlight). I strongly suggest you remove the scooter key from the heavy ring of other keys. All that weight bouncing in the ignition switch will soon mean you'll be looking for a NOS ignition switch!

Thanks Steve! Never thought about that with the keys! Will do!

Second post on your videos from me. I just bought an 84 125 in the light copper color already in running condition. Had one from new in 86 for 9 years. Was run over in a parking lot and totaled was very heartbreaking. Over the 9 years I did all my own maintenance and work and had to rebuild the top end once from oil starvation on a very hot day. (My little oil indicator didn't turn red so I missed a change) These will run forever compared to even todays scooters. Can't wait to pick it up this week.

ACK! Riding my 125 the other day was almost home and it dropped power like detroit lions drop the ball. Still ran and made it home but not a good thing. Most likely the carb is shot as well as all lines and mount being original 1984 equipment so will buy a clone carb and tune it before installing. So many compliments and offers on it everywhere I ride. It's the pop up light that gets them I think.

Hello DL30Creations! I'm from Michigan and hope the Lions finally improve this year...So much frustration with them, I get ya!
I found a new carb on Ebay and it worked out great. It was a later version but was still authentic. It's a beautiful bike for sure!

I would buy a service manual and follow the schematic until I found the power issue.

Hello. I’m trying to find just a new auto bystarter for my 1984 elite.. all I can find is for the ch150. Does anyone know if there comparable?.

I'd be willing to bet they are identical. Just different part numbers.

It looks like you've fitted the latest version of the carb. Cmsnl shows the same carb (with serial number opposite side of keihin logo). I think it's worth just changing whole carb as I doubt keihin superceded it twice for no reason. All the best

Holy crap dude. That carb NOS.. rare stuff.... mine is opposite... perfect cold start but once warm gotta blip the throttle to get it to start.

Had a 1984 Elite 125. Check to see if your carburetor float is set too low. If it's too low, the gas in the bowl boils and it either floods the engine or evaporates away so it becomes a dry-bowl start. Also check to see if your enrichener pin is stuck and the mixture is too rich for a warm start.

Choke likes to stick or stay on on mine. Sprayed it out with a little carb cleaner then some pb blaster and so far so good.
