    THANK YOU THANK THANK YOU. Total amateur here who just fixed the very same problem in 15 minutes. I envisioned our mortgage payment going to replacing sensors and modules and we would STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. Bless you brother for taking the time and effort to post this.

    My friends 2017 F350 had some similar codes in it last year. Invalid data received from the ABS Control Module, steering wheel position sensor, and RR wheel speed sensor. Since I'm just a DIY'er and didn't have access to wiring diagrams for this truck, I went after the easiest code first which was the wheel speed sensor.
    I took it for a test drive with the scanner hooked up and the RR wheel sensor had an intermittent problem where you could see the signal dropping out. I used jumper wire and swapped the left and right side wires to see if the left rear would drop out but unfortunately both sides decided to work again. I then tested the voltages at the connectors for both rear sensors and they read the same so I knew that I was getting good signals from the ABS control module. We replaced the RR wheel sensor and it fixed all of the trouble codes and it's been fine for over a year now.

    Great video. Had similar problem with 2015 GMC Acadia. Lost part of tone ring. Ran rough when accelerating, suspension control code. Yes left front wheel sensor.

      That's the difference between a tech and a mechanic right there. A mechanic just replaces parts. A tech finds out the correct part to replace by testing with scanner, etc and replaces or fixes only what's needed.

    Great Job Ryan! On You Tube, I'm seeing more and more communication problems that cause no start, lack of Power Steering, key off current drains and more. "It's the Wonderful World of Electronics." "It's Alien Technology! They Gave US The Technology But Forgot To Give US The Instructions!" (Quote from The Greatest American Hero TV program in the mid 1970's.)
    Before retirement, I had several 2002 through 2004 Ford F-250 up to F-550 utility body trucks that had Transmission "Input shaft speed sensor" codes.
    L.A. is not in the rust or corrosion belt (away from the ocean's direct influence) and after a lot of testing was noted there some intermittent misfire counts in mode 6. HMMMMM!
    Inspected the spark plugs, the F350 through F550 V10's had odometer readings from 30K to 60K and wide worn plug gaps. Some of the ign coils were showing external carbon tracking. Replaced 10 coils and 10 spark plugs per vehicle, problem solved. No more codes or misfires!
    Same type of utility vehicles. Start the engine. Using the Ford NGS in record mode with selected pids, put the trans in reverse and the engine stalls.
    Reviewing the recorded data, suddenly saw something with the VSS sensor. Over a few tenths of a second, the speed read this way. Zero, zero, zero, zero. 125 mph! Wow! Parking brake and foot brake on, put trans shifter from Park to Reverse and your going 125 mph without moving! Not sure when, but the City Utility vehicles had a vehicle cut off speed well below 125 mph.
    No codes in any modules, no misfire data, but guess what. Replaced 10 worn spark plugs with 10 new spark plugs and coils, no more stalling. Some of the shop people thought the transmission torque converter was intermittently locking up. I said "But it doesn't have the problem moving the selector from Park to Drive, only Reverse.
    "The wonderful world of electronics!

      Yeah you never know what your going to get today. I bet those slight misfires induced a little feed back voltage and EMI in to the system. It's amazing the effect it can have on a computer. It makes it tough to find some of these issues. It seems it is only going to get more complicated with the electronics today.

    I jus replaced mine today but the code is still present an lacks power steering how do i reset it

      This wiring break was just upstream of the wheel speed sensor, so if you had same code, check the wiring a few inches from where you plugged the new sensor in. The bad wiring wasn’t part of the wss.

    got the same problem and only difference is when it first happened i had very poor break boost as well but that went away but it’s hard to steer when going slow

    doesnt that carry a bias voltage??? be easier than spinning the wheel

      Yes, on a scope it would , the scan tool only shows wheel speed. Using a scope you could watch the sensor voltage speed.

      Reducing PS performance for an ABS fault seems kind of stupid.

      It makes sense on an electric power steering system to limit power steering on higher speeds and give more assist at lower speeds. But interesting that it would be tied to one WSS fault. Seems there could be a better way.

    With all those going down at once, I bet it's a wheel speed sensor;
    but that doesn't really explain the steering issue. Lets see
    edit: nice I was right. So I guess the steering module issue was just because of the order of the can bus- it just happened to be downstream. Interesting. I didn't know the wheel speed sensor would cause a can bus to drop out. Are the speed sensors actually using a can bus? Or was the short just dropping out the module- which was then effecting can bus? Interesting one.

      I think the key word here from the code descriptions is "implausible" which to me refers to the data not meeting a rationality check. In other words, the CAN waveform might be alright but the transmitted speed info (due to the bad ABS sensor wiring), may be wrong. At least, that's how I see it. Of course I'm open to clarifications.

      Yeah, that is what is so interesting about what the wording is in these DTC's. There is no actual CAN bus issue in the network. But the Power steering module needs the wheel speed signal to control the power steering assist output percentage. Like most variable power steering systems it has full assist at parking lot speed and pulls assist away at faster speed for safer and tighter steering. When the power steering module loses a plausible WSS input from the ABS module due to a bad WSS it can't operate correctly. So it defaults to low assist. Now the module needs to explain why its removing steering assist with a trouble code and since there is no problem with the steering system itself, it blames the ABS and sets an implausible CAN message from the ABS. Which means the ABS module is not sending me the right information ON the CAN BUS line for me to operate.
      This then creates a confusing waterfall effect of implausible CAN bus message codes all originating back to a bad wheel speed sensor. Its a poor choice of wording, the code should be "steering assist unable to operate due WSS input malfunction"".

      @@GoTechTraining That's interesting. I do remember seeing that on "engineering explained" -- how the steer assist changes it's ratio (essentially) depending on the speed of the car. I always thought that was a dumb idea myself; making it seem unpredictable. But I've never used one, so maybe it's more intuitive than I think.
      I do know that the ABS also needs the WSS because that's how it knows when the wheels are locked. Traction control needs it because that's how it knows when one wheel is spinning, etc.
      For something so important, you think that would have two codes: one for "open WSS" or "Short WSS". Because I'm assuming it's on a 5v ref-- but calibrated from 0.1v to 4.5v. So it easily knows when it is at 0v or 5v, that it is a short or open. So I don't get it. lol.. I guess they skipped the diagnostic layer in the ABS, and a short actually brings down the module completely and throws all those strange codes. It's probably just an older/ off the shelf type of ABS that isn't as updated as the other modules.

      I know right, funny story, the dealership tool used to need internet access the entire time you where communicating. So test drives where impossible! Techs had to tether WiFi with their phones

    I hate to criticize.. I'm ok with not seeing the easy repair, but this video lacked the proof of repair and final test drive showing the power steering issues gone. It would suck to fix the WSS code but have the customer lose steering assist 1/4 mile down the road because of another issue that wasn't realized while you had it.
