Really good explanation of Egoscue method. Well done. Id like to add that i had 3 slipped discs in my lower back and they recommended surgery if course but a doctor friend told me to go to Egoscue. It was expensive but far cheaper than my time with surgery, rehab and lost work. I never got the surgery. Im stronger now than i was 10 years ago. I bought 8 sessions with them. The guy told me later he could help more if i bought more but i was feeling 80% better so i held off. I later wanted to improve even more so I decided to take Egoscue classes cause they cost about the same. Im glad i did. I taught myself how to helpmy pain. I suggest EVERYONE take those classes. We should all invest in ourselves.
I’m so glad to hear that you are getting so much benefit from it! I haven’t kept up with the exercises daily, but as soon as I start having back or knee pain, I start them again. Thanks for sharing!
Just discovered the egosue method and I am excited to see what happens, my first day of doing the e-sizes left me pretty sore but it went away after a day, thanks for the video and the encouragement !!
I was glad to hear you reference yoga at the seven-minute mark because the whole time I was thinking much of what you were describing is addressed by doing yoga regularly. I'm a recent convert to yoga and have been doing a daily 30-minute yoga session for the past two months. The difference in my posture, pre- and post-yoga, is significant. I've actually had a couple people ask me if I've gotten taller or started wearing different shoes: LOL. To others reading this: Yoga doesn't need to be complicated or difficult to yield significant benefits. Just a handful of key poses in the morning (for example: Mountain Pose, Standing Forward Bend, Easy Pose, Plank Pose), held for 1 to 3-minutes each, can do a great deal of good. The key thing is doing it in a way you enjoy and look forward to and doing it every day. My two cents. :)
Wow - that is great! I’m interested to hear that yoga has made your posture better. I’ve been doing it for years (but only 2x per week) and although yoga has been great for flexibility, movement, and strength, it didn’t do much for my forward head and slumped shoulders. I’ve had to consciously address those issues outside of yoga practice. Glad to hear the positive role it is performing for you!
Yoga is so great and has really amazing benefits! Egoscue is a method with a different purpose though. Egoscue alleviates pain and increases functional mobility using postural alignment exercises. We are able to tailor make exercise menus to each individual's postural deviations, which brings back balance to your body by decreasing compensations and dysfunctions quickly. Doing an Egoscue menu before you begin your yoga practice can ensure that you are entering each pose in a balanced and aligned way. There's nothing that feels better than warrior II! Enjoy!
Thank you for this clear and concise explanation of Egoscue. I just learned about it a couple months ago from Brian Bradley being on a Tony Robbins event. Intuitively it clicked for me. I bought the book and have had a virtual consult with a therapist, provided pictures, and received a menu of exercises specific for my condition. The amazing thing to me is how quickly results are noticed. I’m not sure how it’s possible but very grateful and hopeful.
Thank you for putting this together. This is a nice and clear explanation of Egoscue. If you ever need any further help with anything Egoscue related please let me know. We are more than happy to help any way that we can!
Use it or lose it is old saying but you said because we lost them so our other body muscles are compensating. This sounds incorrect. If it was needed in the first place, there is no way you could not use or lose it.
When a muscle is no longer being used as much the muscles around it take its place. Think about it this way, if you got a piece of glass in front part of your foot but still needed to walk a mile, you could. You could still walk on your heel. Doing that turns on muscles that wouldn't be normally used. Make sense now?

I love Egoscue. I’ve been doing it daily for almost a year and my pain is gone. I haven’t missed a day.
This book is brilliant.
