Eva Cassidy has the voice of an angel. Additionally she interprets the lyrics & music with lots of emotion. I get teary everytime I listen to her version of “Over The Rainbow” & “Autumn Leaves”. We are so fortunate to enjoy her music. God bless her. RIP Eva.

What a great singer, what a great performance, she was SO talented, who knows how far she would have gone. What a tragedy that she had to die so young at 33, of the very deadly melanoma. A tragic loss but I'm so glad for what she did leave behind for us to enjoy, just wish there were a lot more.

What is so wonderful about Eva is here versatility. Autumn Leaves and Somewhere Over the Rainbow show her deep and tender side. Chain of Fools shows her hard edge R&B side. Ain't No Sunshine perhaps shows an area in between those two. No matter what she sings she is technically masterful. I just love this dear soul.

I saw her do this song at the Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach. I didn't know at the time, about this little blonde girl with the Big Voice! She's sing in the Heavenly Choir now! She Blessed us then left!

I have read that she was very shy and prefered these small venues with a small audience. I believe that shecould have become one of the best known singers on the planet had she lived longer and took on Vegas etc. All I can say is that I am so glad that a musician friend of mine who knew her told me to check her out on TH-cam. Very cool arrangement. Eva's vocals are from the 1996 recording at the Blues Alley Jazz Club in Washington. The recording was remixed with a horn section, backup singers and a different band. Not necessarily better than the original, but different in a very good way. I love both versions.
I actually like this mashup. It was tastfully done. I understand some purists would consider this a sacrelidge but I don't. I think it gives us insight into what a commercially successful Eva might look like.
