Another great episode! I wish there was something DPG could do about the problems, but I don't think they will. I think if casuals stopped coming back, it would send a clear message to DPG. The problem is, casuals keep coming back year after year. On top of that, I see a lot of them joining the cowboys/cameltoes guilds and becoming part of the problem.
Thank you. I don't think there's any good solution. My thought is that if C&C won't hold their members accountable, someone has to. Honestly every other guild on Thornblade has been awesome. Everyone I've met in your guild & in Knights of Napalm have been some of the nicest people ever. I've appreciate the community you guys have built. But every server will have a few bad apples. Is what it is.
@@IonBlaze1 Unfortunately the C&C guild is full of these people. I have seen a couple of them breaking the true box rule. I have seen one of them just taking over an area ( not mine but close) and just plain rudeness nothing we can do as lof as DB keeps that part of old EQ these days ( and the one thing I think WoW got right with instances). But even those guilds will go away ..and farmers once the server keeps growing in age. Unfortunately, when that happens there is no one to play with at lower levels like mine. What we can do as a community is just that. Build a Community and maintain it. Not jumping to the next tlp after a certain expansion or goes live. It's harder than it sounds. Most of us wish DBG stops a server on velious kind of p99 but, I think it will never happen for some "unknown" reason. Sure we have Agnarr but that is beyond what some of us consider the golden age of EQ. I'm making Thorn my main server..I think the causal play is best for me ..no guilds no groups just me and my bone servants lol ...very casual ..and slow !!! For now...I'm not even buying anything until the bazaar goes up everything I have so far its been from drops or other passing players donations that I did not even ask for lol ..just casual friendly good players that like to give a token or a few plat for spells to a player in a starting area lol ...as long as those players exist ...Thorn can have a positive future ...Good luck with your adventures and keep the videos rolling.

IDK your guild under your guidance seems to be a problem too. After all, you are aligned with CnC (getting camp insights etc and bragging about it) and you steal camps during your streams and act like you didn't when the evidence is there. Moreover, you block anyone that points it out.

Almost every player on the server has had a problem with C&C. Rude behavior is what they are known for. It's not just them either. There are box armys and other random players that do the same stuff. They kill steal and take over camps. Most of them will ignore you if try to talk to them. C&C members have been caught using illegal software to warp across zones and I'm sure other things that shouldn't be happening. EQ is a old game so most of the people playing are middle aged grown adults. I didn't expect such crappy childish behavior when I came back to the game after 13 years.
Yeah I'm sorry. I remember when EQ used to curb this. There's always been bad apples but they were handled. Now, I don't think so.
Some of the biggest box army's I seen are c and c tho. If there are 50 mains in guild i wouldn't be surprised if it consisted of just 15 real people.

Cowbows and Camels is a pvp guild. If a gm ever gives you trouble for training any of them, show this video to him/her.
Thanks for calling him out. Thornblade was a ton of fun until the highly sought after spots became camped 24/7 by toxic players. My last few weeks felt like I was battling other players for my achievements rather than the game. If you want your epic, the typical path won't get you there on this server. Prepare to pay someone to loot or pay krono for the tradable items. It's difficult to enjoy this server when each progression point or raid target has a troll under the bridge who won't let you pass.
No more bridge trolls! I like that expression.
The server is by no means hopeless. They may try to take camps because they are bored and max level. Well I do the opposite when I'm not leveling alts I patrol around the dungeons giving buffs and helping
If I find someone taking a named from a group xping there I will push the high level off. I have spent hours at a single camp safeguarding from a high level that kept logging in hoping I was gone.
They dont have free reign we just need more people pushing back on them. Sadly most ppl wont take the time to muscle back. Am I saying I can stop them no they will slip through but as long as I'm playing there I will continue to hunt for them.
Keep your head up Blaze, I'm just one of many others who push back on the trash. Eventually they will move on for "greener" pastures all we can do is help speed the process. GL and good hunting.

Thank you for sharing your views about the toxic players in EQ. I play on Thornblade as well and I agree with your comments. I am an Old school player ( 2001 ) and find it less than sportsman like when I Maximum level player farms out a mob for the loot. If your farming a mob for loot and someone of the appropriate level shows up.. step aside you can resume after they are done.

I'm playing Bard this go around and I'm having a blast. Thanks for all your videos on Bards, it's really helped! I'm currently level 56 and taking things a bit slower this server, and I'm enjoying my time more and not experiencing "burn out" like I have in the past.

@@IonBlaze1 this server has made Bard epic actually pretty easy to complete. I was able to finish mine at level 54, and it’s so great!
One of the prime reasons I play full time on a Emulator. No toxic behavior and most high lvl teams are more than willing to help you out. Project Lazarus is always busy and no drama. Remember playing on Ragefire and was in the top guild for the server Twisted Legacy. Don't miss the batphone and there were a lot of toxic people in that guild..but also some amazing peeps.
Yeah I kinda miss the emulators like P99 for that. The GM's there weren't perfect but at least they did something.

So many people look sideways at Cowboys just because of a handful of their members.
Mind boggling their leadership does nothing about it. That type of behavior is childish and doesnt stand in any other MMO guilds. Really sad to see that DBG and Cowboys are so tainted.

For some reason the pre-nerf guise was super rare on this random loot server. As for farming it, I think the widowmistress is a better bet since her spawn timer is a lot faster than the lower guk mobs. Still, I was only able to get the SBD and no guise.
Thank you for that suggestion. Yeah I didn't know if there was a better camp. The spawn timer was long.
We had 2 drop from trash mobs in mistmoore, just an idea haven’t seen it since though.
We had 2 or three drop, perhaps consecutively - but it was unfortunately at that Unrest camp that Murder was taking from you.
It took me a few nights, but I got my Guise from the Minotaur Hero in Steamfont.
It’s like real world. The bad guys just run a muck.

Every time I go back to a TLP, I end up quitting when somebody warps to my camp and steals my named mob. It happens every time. Every single time. I haven't tried again since Agnaar, and I don't want to. P99 will suffice, because players are held accountable there. No cheaters. There are some assholes, but nowhere near as bad as TLP. if p99 had instanced raids, it would be the perfect EQ experience.
I am part of arguably the number one guild on Rizlona, which may technically qualify us as a 'hardcore' guild. None of our members would act this way, nor would our leadership dismiss what people do on 'non-raid' time as none of their business. What you have here is a Mawltar/ Cowboys and Camels issue, not a 'hardcore guild' issue. Being a hardcore guild doesn't automatically mean you will have jackasses like this in it.
Yeah it's just some bad apples in the top guild usually. These guys seem to move from TLP to TLP to optimize krono farming.
Good Episode... However with a 47 Shaman you should have been able to out damage that 60 Monk or come *really* close. Shaman DoTs after the first tick give full credit of the damage dealt. With Venom of the Snake + Blizzard Blast you would have done enough damage to get credit for the kill. Moreover, when you hit 49, your Shaman will have Envenomed Bolt + Plague, which will almost ensure you win damage races.
Oh i didn't know. It's kinda hard cause it was such a quick fight.
@Ion Blade Just wanted you to know DoT's count their full damage right away for dps races. 1-2 dots from shm would win that dps race, probably 1.

We have this video to thank for the major change in EverQuest TLPs: Oakwynd First to Engage Encounter Locking. Love it or hate it, this is why it was made.
How can a volunteer force do a better management job then what one finds on a paid server? Well the key point is "volunteer" which is not to say that paid GMs are a bad thing but instead that the profit motive of running the live servers incentivizes cutting staffing to the bone and then some. Saying "DPS is king" as far as who gets kill credit is easy when the game is already programmed to give kill credit to whoever does 51% or more of the mob's health. No further labor required.
This is not a slam on the current dev team for live EQ. Such decisions are typically made by management in corporate rather than the artists and coders doing the daily grunt work.
Yeah I agree. DBG is a business. I understand why the rule is DPS is king. It's a headache to deal with 100s of petitions of he said, she said complaints. Usually when the GMs wont reign in behavior, this kind of stuff is handled in house in guilds.
why did you go all the way to Lguk for the DE mask? got two off a boss in unrest in a couple hours on a level 25-30 necro.

It's way out there. But I've had several guise drops at King in Perma. Also Peggy cloak seems to drop fairly often there. Not many people camp there since it's so far out. Just giving you heads up. If you need help ever HMU My main toon is Wydgit of (Vetus Equitus)
Cowboys and Camels is a truly awful guild. They have griefed me multiple times on different things, etc. I truly despise them.
Now they are just named cowboys and nothing has changed....they still steal my kills!

C&C is the biggest dumpster out of any TLP. Their entire guild uses MQ and DBG does nothing about it. They're warping all over the place to the point they don't even try and hide it anymore. Their guild leader is a trashcan in RL and uses KR to pay his bills because he's amounted to absolutely nothing and would never do the things he does in-game in RL because someone would, literally, slap the dog crap out of him. The sad part is nothing will ever change because pukes like Mabbu use Everquest to counteract their RL situations of basically living in a dumpster.

Sorry about what happened to you with cowboys and cameltoes. Some of their members are good people, but they have some bad apples in there that enjoy pissing us off. The worst part of it is the situation on the server is getting worse by the day as a lot of these toxic level 60's have nothing better to do. They don't need anything on raids, have leveled up all their alts, and are totally bored.
Sorry but like my grandma used to say “ you’re the company you keep” or something like that Ian hard to translate it to English. So , no excuse of keeping being part of something that toxic across the server. Hope C&C good guys and gals just boot those bad apples out , or risk their names added to some black lists and rep. Just by having that guild tag .
Toxicity always seems to peak in Kunark. With Epic camps/VP key being so contested, as well as the content drought in the second month of the expansion, people get bored and start to act like jerks.
Hey Ion, I've been watching a lot of your videos recently and I really like them. I played EQ a couple of times when I was like 6. So I never played it. I have played some EQ2 and enjoyed that when I was a lot younger. I've been thinking about quitting World of Warcraft and trying EQ. What server would you recommend for a brand new player? This TLP or P99?? In light of this video it blows to hear about these hardcore players, but I have played with hardcore players on other games and still managed to really enjoy myself. I would like to know what you think. :)
Thank you so much for watching. I have a video I'm working on that will talk about that. P99 Green is a good choice for grouping. It's free and the grouping population is not as time sensitive as TLPs. But if you want to raid, TLP servers like Mischief & Thornblade are better cause guilds can schedule raid times cause of instancing. P99 has no instancing.

Guilds like that belong on pvp servers but would get griefed off in days. I can't imagine not playing everquest without the abillity to stop something like that from happening

I totally agree with your rant. As a player from 99-04 I returned and fell for the appeal of a TLP server with randomised loot. For the most part its been good and fun. My only run in (go figure) was with someone from the cowboys who decided they wanted the spot I was using and tried to train me. They were not only rude but useless as they could not even manage that. Still it sours the experience and does make you wonder if its worth the annoyance. The other comment I'd make is that the monetisation (Krono) is in large part the root cause of the behaviours as there are players who are 'making a living' (I put that in quotes as to me seems like hard work for peanuts) and therefore consider their need is the only thing that matters. This will probably drive me to give up the game in end.
DPS racing should at least be limited to people who can catch up. Its like saying its okay for an olympic track runner to compete with high school gym class. There is no way a lvl 40 can out dps a lvl 60 so it should not be allowed. 2 lvl 60s though is a different story. But what I really do like about Mischief is I dont have to particularly camp specific mobs to get what I want, I can go find other named around that level. Like the Ac 12 Dex 13 cloak of shadows from rahotep instead of the guano guy in SolB. I too want to figure out clever ways to get payback on toxic players, I like one of your past videos when your bard was Highsun mobs back to their spawn and summoning that one guy that kept pulling your mobs, that was great and inspired me.
Yeah exactly. It's a bit more fair when it's 2 guilds competing at a raid but less fair when it's a 60 vs. a level appropriate group at an exp camp.
Is it possible to actually solo and get to level cap in EQ now? I keep trying to come back to it but on live servers I feel like leveling is just me playing EQ alone which is rough.
Yeah I think you can get to level cap but it would be rough solo. TLPs & Project 1999 are probably your best bet. I'm working on a video that addresses that.
It is possible but its extremely slow and boring to solo from 1 to 115, thats why most people box to speed it up. a lot just 2 or 3 box and run mercs with their boxes to make it easier.

Mercenary's sure made it easier at least, i play some from time to time so i prefer the solo play, currently doing my bard epic 1.0 just did a 12 hour stint in skyfire to get Eldrig the jerk to spawn, now time to get wet.
It is if you play the right class, or if you RMT and twink yourself out, or both. Don't take this guys' videos for evidence. He not only was given tons of items from his whole leveling journey, he spent $$ on krono to buy super powerful twink gear with. These videos will not be your own experience if you play, especially if you play on P99. I know it's an old post but I recommend the next TLP.
You should try playing EverQuest 2. We have lots of help and lots of zones for you to get gear in. Plus everyone is very helpful :)
Oh yeah I used to play there. Got to 85 on a troub when the kunark expansion dropped. It was awesome but I missed old Eq1 bards. It was more powerful.

Anecdote time, but best kill-stealing story I've got is when I was playing a newb alt and a known alt of a guildie in my main's guild repeatedly killsteals me preventing me from getting any xp. I put up with it a while and try asking him to stop and tried giving him a chance to be reasonable, but he's basically like 'haha too bad what are you gonna do about it?' Just an unrepentant bully. So I log my main, which happened to be the leader of his main's guild, and upbraid him for a while and listen to him whine and beg a while before kicking his main from the guild. Pretty satisfying.
But too bad kill-stealers don't all get handled in that way. I agree with you, they're just terrible for the health of the game, and you're right to point out that their behavior most definitely hurts the company's bottom line. If the DPG's stated purpose is to 'create a supportive social atmosphere' and a 'safe and magical place' then allowing this type of behavior flies in the face of that and you'd think it'd be the company's mission to address it in some meaningful and impactful way.
DBG does not to lose money by banning players , it is that simple unfortunately

Years ago on the rathe.. there was a guild that started out as blood of the spider… huge raiding guild…they were doing exactly what your talking about here… training our group..come to find out.. it was the guild leader himself doing it as well… he got band… then his guild got disbanded… few days later he had a new account and a new guild… brotherhood of the spider.. and they were even worse… finally I think members got tired of it…I remember we got a few members of brotherhood of the spider applied for our guild…we were not the biggest raiding guild on the rathe but we got things done… I was guildleader and main tank.. wife was main cleric…as it turned out I was also the main puller..( my monk ) and wife was main chanter… yes we old schooled multi boxed.. and as i said I another post.. I just got back.. now playing on test and wow the difference on that server is unreal…. A warrior came up and asked me to see my weapons the other day.. I linked them.. next thing I know he put 2 huge backpacks in my trading window… full of high end armor and weapons.. then he asked if I have plat… I told him well to be honest i just got back to the game and no I don’t have any plat…up pops the trading window again and he gave me 2 million plat..I asked why? He said welcome home gift.. please enjoy…now… I didn’t know this guy from Adam…just a random guy.. his only request was I pay it forward one day when I get leveled up .. and I took every single piece of droppable gear I had and found someone lower level then me and gave it to them… that day..I love test.. I’ll never leave test…this is how EverQuest should be.. and should have been ages ago.. everyone helping each other.. people doing shout about MGB in the guild lobby the people, who casting giving people time to get there… everyone and I mean everyone is so nice…

Cowboys and camels are known for doing that.... They even pulled a whole zone to my camp in kc to have the zone for themselfs. As far as talking to their guild lead about it he does not care. On top of that he even encourages his guild members to do such things. They have gotten such a bad rep that people dont want to group with them anymore.

Hey they did this to me too! On a week suspension for saying "thats some punk ass shit" in ooc. Not because they trained us. But because of how they acted after. And refused to rez is and ran right past us.

Toxic top guilds is just part of EQ, historically. I was part of a very toxic guild back in original, on Fennin Ro, so much so that the founder has an entry with his name on Urban Dictionary. :P

Back in early 2000's I was farming giants for Plat on my sk a higher lvl started trying to take over the camp so I simply hopped on my brothers necro which was decked out epic and all and proceeded to take the camp back over dude was mad didn't know it was me until he had the nerve to send a tell then he logged once I told him about him stealing my sk mobs lol good times
Yep. 2 twits (level 115) from a guild pulled the entire zone including the epic mob I was fighting. No xp or loot cause they pulled it far away. All to pl a noob necromancer. Told dbg this is the reason I will never go all access. Probably others think this way too.
That behavior is on all servers but when they release 2 servers at a time it's the alpha server that has the community you desire most. Reputation is still important on Mischief and Aradune. Like I say they are still toxic guilds but they are publicly outed by the community at large. With that said it's best to look for picks or go to another zone when the high levels are camping lower level zones.
Fortunately these idiots tend to leave in PoP where they can no longer one man mobs from people....its happened to me on almost every TLP so far and unfortunately its just something we have to accept :(. I personally didn't go to Thornblade and instead went to Mischief, my thought was, if people are going to be kill sniping, then at least I can get more drops per mob per successful kill. Anyway, hope you continue enjoying your time over there and that the a-holes drop off!

i miss the legends server if a toxic player showed up to an event and enough of us role played hard enough Lydrea or Deodan would often come up with a punishment . That being said it ended up being fun and the toxic player would then become a friend and become a little more chill .

I got the shield for my cleric, and the shield for my enchanter. Long ass cast time, but worth it in era, but era lasted longer on Mangler, especially for the cleric. That might be a consideration.

Their guild leader was banned on his main about a week ago after he got caught cheating. He’s known for being a giant source of toxicity basically anywhere he goes. Im honestly surprised anyone will still put up with him. Are you really bleeding edge if you have to cheat to accomplish anything?

@@HalfInsaneOutdoorGuy he was caught warping in zone which is a bannable offense, DB Games banned him/her for it.
@@HalfInsaneOutdoorGuy There are third party programs that can be used to do things like warp around a zone, check what is in loot tables, many other things I am sure.
yes, Vicious, has been banned twice now as far as I know. Doesn't affect him though. Just reappears on another account or takes over one of his thralls', then back on his main when the suspension runs out. Absolutely amazing that this guy is still in the game.
This type of behavior runs rampant on TLPs. That's why I typically stay off the beating path until the crowds run to the next most popular zones at expansion unlock. It is absurd and also why I prefer P99 in many many ways. If it wasn't for random loot and free trade I would have skipped this.
I appreciate that Daybreak keeps the lights on but I find their rules disturbing and a wee retarded. Early Everquest can run like a weird PVP game where you can't actually kill one another traditionally but some will sure as hell find other ways to screw you over.

I am just seeing this after some time from being posted but I thought I would share my 2 cents.
Yes, it would be awesome if everyone would get along in MMOs but sadly the problem is that will never happen. I play on a live server and a 120 mage was camping all the named in Lower Guk. It is sad, but true. We went down at lvl 36 to try to level and get some gear upgrades but nope 120 mage wiping out everything. This is the problem of having mobs drop gear, I have never thought mobs should have epic gear, I always felt a guest should be the way you get better gear to prevent mob camping. However, the companies want you to grind so here we are. It’s a player and development problem honestly.
I bet if you report the players with the chat logs you showed in this video to DBG you can get them suspended for toxic behavior. I've done it that way before and it worked for me. Don't let them think they've won. The worst that can happen is nothing but at least you brought your concerns to DBG.
Isn't that the 'hardcore' guild that was going to start on Mischief but moved to Thornblade specifically to avoid competition with a better guild?

I could write a 300000 word essay on why Ogres and Shadowknights, especially Ogre ones, are the best things in the entire universe and how no other race/class combo can contest to the ultimate power that ogre shadowknights have. Depends if you're playing Project 1999 or one of these official TLP servers. Joe Lenard has a perfect video for setting up P99. If you want to play on TLP's, the EverQuest website or Steam will have downloads of the game launcher.

I realize I'm late to the party, but this happens on a regular basis on TLP. I last played Mangler as a SK and absolutely loved being a blessed with Harm Touch. Other than that, people will trash talk you, try to train you or find some other way to mess with you. It's irritating and the players LOVE to remind you that Daybreak/Darkpaw or whoever now owns this red-headed stepchild of a game do not recognize "camps". I had plenty of players boxing more than what was allowed take over camps or downright hold them for weeks at a time. Golden Efreeti Boots and other highly demanded items were camped by 6-box Necromancer groups... Rathe Mtn Giants for the gold they dropped? Ya... some dude had 24-box of Mages/Necromancers camping every spawn point to hoard the gold from that for about a month before he was removed... These devs make the 1-st/2nd expac kinda pain in the ass.
Also: Murder is a name I am familiar with from Mangler. He's incredibly shitty.

Toxic behavior usually lasts until GoD or so on tlp's. If you play past 16% of the total game you see a drastic decline in those actions. Early on people want to play for nostalgia or whatever their motivations are. The high end players kronolord those people because raiding is basically a zerg before they add a player cap and is generally boring garbage. It gets better, but Tlps die before the game gets any good.
I agree with what you said. The same guild on Mangler was pretty much done around PoP. They move to where the kronos flow on young servers.

I respect your reason for posting this video, but after 5 years on TLPs I've learned all you can do to a troll is to starve it of attention. Unfortunately, as long as this video is up that player will have an all-you-can-eat buffet of self-congratulatory satisfaction for ruining your day. The only way to kill a troll on DPG's Everquest is to bore it to death. Don't send tells. Don't interact. Just leave the troll to get bored and go bother someone else.
A friend and i have actually quit the game for this type of bull shit. I'm not paying to waist my time and money to not have fun. EQ never used to be like this.

The difference between free private servers (like P99) and paid sub Live servers is that trying to police this kind of behavior does more harm than good. You have it backward--it's these hardcore players that keep the game alive, not the casuals. Just as an example, a friend of my has played since Velious--the WHOLE TIME until now. He started out with just his account, but slowly accumulated more as friends of his eventually dropped out of the game, taking over their accounts. He manages at least 9 accounts that I know of, maybe more. HE is the type of player keeping this game alive. He is in one of the top 3 raiding guilds (as an officer) and one of the friendlier ones. The top guild on that server has a reputation for precisely the type of behavior shown in this video--that is why DBG won't touch them. If you push these players out, you lose your hardcore raiders, which means you lose the hype factory that keeps casuals interested beyond the brief puff of smoke that is simple nostalgia (usually 1-3 months, from what I have seen).
I don't mean to say that this excuses people behaving this way, but it's just how it is and DBG has set their policy this way for a reason.

Had similar issues with that guild this week. Was trying to level, and one of their high levels came in farming, and would kill everything in the area. They parked almost right in front of me. No way to compete, so I just went somewhere else.

Is it bad that when i saw the title i thought it was going to be about the CoC guild... I guess we all have had bad exp with one or more of there members... Yes they do have a few good members but most of them pull this shit all the time.
I don't understand why their leader don't just kick the bad apples. Grow some balls. That guild is getting a really bad reputation and won't last.

P99 and TAKP do a better job because they give a sh!7 about EQ, not like the money grabbers at daybreak. Fans always do their best to keep what they love alive.
These are some of the reasons why I'm not currently playing. I understand that things will never be perfect but the complete apathy from the community and management towards it kills any interest.
Agnarr was the only TLP server I enjoyed . Rest were all trash! Didn’t even bother with thorn and mischief server. It’s like a second full time job and always getting behind due to krono farmers and HC raids
Agnarr people were solid. My guild on mangler was mostly just Agnarr people who got tired of PoP and I loved that crowd.
I love Agnarr too but out of all my TLP experiences the bad apples there were the worst. I typically don't like to use ignore but general chat alone had me filling my list of obnoxious folk. It was also one of the only times I was KSed and had my charm routinely dispelled by players. It wasn't until after Coirnav was announced that the server became all around pleasant.
This is will probably end up the salt mine of their discord server. A lot of top higher end guilds that have asshole member enjoy salt post. Bloodthrist on Mangler had one, relentless insomnia on coirnav, Trucidation on Agnarr(they weren't the top guild) ect. Also as someone who plays on Mangler, how did you manage to never have Objective decide he was going to take over you camp? I thought all long time players ont he 2 or 3 encounters like that with him.
Oh I never met that guy. But we fought Bloodthirst a few times. I mostly ran into issues with this 12 boxing power level guy in velketors more than dps races.

Ion, you are seriously in error if you think P99 doesn't have this type of behavior. Steal Team started running over other players on day one of Green Server launch and continue till this day. Oh the stories I could tell you. But the developers play their personal chars in that guild so it's no surprise the GM's turn a blind eye.
I bet if that guild has been Triton this would have been dealt with a lot faster, well doubt it would have happened in the first place, if they even play these days, used to be super hard core guild doing raids 6 days per week, seemed like nice guys.
So the one thing you only mentioned briefly but is absolutely crucial is TLP servers. Even back in the day NO not all top guilds would act like this to random newbies. The ugliness was mostly seen against other raiding guilds that could threaten the top guild. Since the advent of instanced raiding it is rare indeed to see a guild that just allows asshattery like that. If you were on a normal live server and not TLP this wouldn't be a thing. Personally I've not seen behavior like this since prior to the introduction of instanced raiding and never from a guild leader. Keep in mind that "leader" might very well be either a friend of that person or that person himself if it is some junk guild. Their member messing around with such low content makes me believe you weren't dealing with a top guild but someone's own personal guild where asshattery is allowed.
I have been playing EQ (not TLP servers) since 1999 and I am in one of the top raiding guilds. I've been in raiding guilds for most of these 22 years and none I have been in would have put up with crap like that. Every now and then one of the lesser guilds would have a problem member who would KS or whatever when I was playing a non guilded alt and I would get with their leadership and it was dealt with. I can only think of one guild ever that I knew of where this might have flown and that is due to what you said. Reputations preceded not only some players but some guilds.
Now you might be right in that people that play TLP might say screw it and leave but the live servers not having that issue will be just fine and not affected by drama on the TLP servers. Personally I already did all of the old stuff when it was new and EQ is too different than what it was to accurately portray the original pre expansion game play. For that you would need to go to project 1999.
Also only very few of the top guilds do the 2 AM raiding bit. Prior to instance raiding yes this was a thing but for the most part that isn't the case now. RoI and people trying to directly compete against them yes that will still be a thing to say you are #1 across all servers. Otherwise no that is wrong to say all top guilds do that.
I played on vallon zek back in 1999 when the game was released for about 10 years give or take. In all honesty we did all the game firsts back then when EverQuest was new, there was no walkthroughs and the game was actually hard so any server first these days on a 20+ year old game mean absolutely nothing.
We did it decades ago guys just enjoy the game and stop trying to get bragging rights because it means nothing.
Creat serves that have honor. And people can be not banned but flipped to other servers. I totally agree but you just gave evil infamy try not to exonerate there names. Pvp servers fight the camp stealers but you get ganked all the time.
We might have to go Vigilante on their ass. Cant do much in the moment to an entire guild but when individual people start causing problems, possible to set up a bounty hunting 3 box? Go find them when you catch wind of them messing over honest players. I 3 box, if possible I will straight up add these people to my friends list, have a particular set up and go give them a taste of their own toxicity! THIS IS FOR THOSE NOOBS IN UNREST!!! I don't normally do this but if you have any ideals on a good setup for such Vigilantism, I will go Boondock Saints on their azz

You're not wrong, but when I think back on having to compete with the Fires of Heaven and Celestial Tomb on the Veeshan server back in the day... No instancing at all plus super powerful Japanese guilds taking over the night shift... This kind of conflict was honestly about half the fun.
Yeah open world raiding is a different beast. The competition is kind of fun. No one expects guilds competing for raid targets to be clean.
Andrew, I remember FoH!! We started out on 7th Hammer and ran into this problem with The Dark Exile (mostly American) by day and then the Asian guilds at night. Ended up switching servers to Erollisi Marr. We don't play as much anymore -- casual at best -- but I'm sorry to see this still happening. It's very frustrating when you love the game but have to deal with toxic players.

I remember back when I played from 1999-2002 and the GM did police people that would steal a camp, well at least on Drinal Server, they would suspend them and even ban them on repeated offenses, I do not know when they change that. We also had the United Guilds of Drinal that policed epic item mob kills so that everyone on that server had equal chance of getting the item they need from each epic item mob.
Oh yeah it was actually stopped back then. I guess they just don't have the resources now to do it.

I've had exact same thing happen, and after talking with Guild leader I got basically same response. The believe DPS is king period. And since it's within the rules they just don't care. I'm not the type to associate a guild tag with a player normally (I actually know a couple really good peeps in C n C) that being said from now on I am avoiding any C n C member. This type behavior is just plain wrong. And they don't seem to care. In fact the attitude seems to be if we can run over you, we will.
I'm sorry. That just sucks. Even if it's a rule or not, every EQ player understands to respect other people's camps.
That kind of guild just sucks. If the leadership is unwilling to do anything about this kind of behavior, it shows you should avoid all of them.
And, I am in a guild that gets some of the server firsts on E. Marr.
