I wonder if that says something about dog psychology or just that bunny is essentially a little kid. Like do dogs distinguish between species, or is their whole pack one kind of thing to them - family
It's nice to see that other dogs have a 'right ball' like my dog does. It's funny because one of my dogs will play with literally any toy. It's the fact that we are engaging in play with her that matters to her (or she will have a favourite toy of the moment that she plays with a lot on her own, and occasionally re-discover an old favourite to play with). The other is like Bunny was in this video. He always knows exactly which ball he wants. He will usually tell us roughly where it is and even when we can't find it there, he's always right, it may be so far wedged under something that we aren't seeing it, but he never accepts no for an answer, and we always find the ball there eventually. If he can't get the 'right' ball, he can't play. The dozen other balls in the house, even the ones that look identical to us, are just not the same. The funniest thing is that he even knows how to use this track record of his to his own advantage. If he wants to get to somewhere (say the cats knocked some of their food, which he really loves but usually can't get, down the back of a cabinet for example), he will tell us he's lost his ball there, wait for us to move what's in the way to get the 'ball' out, and then quickly dart in and get whatever he really wanted 😂 I swear, animals know exactly how to play us when they want to!
Tenrec is the newcomer and Bunny is a sensitive pony. So to make the transition as easy as possible Tenrec is introduced really slowly, first allowing Bunny and Otter to just smell him and hear him upstairs, then go for walks together. Finally they will be sharing the space together, I think soon 💕 Funnily it seems like Otter is the more sceptical one now!
I’m sorry. I think it’s ridiculous and even slightly cruel that the dogs were kept apart so long. I love Bunny, and I’m so glad she has an enriched life using buttons, but I just don’t agree with this strategy at all. Bunny clearly wants to play with Tenrec. Her mom should let her. Just my opinion.
@@darkhelmet5978 I hope you also know that Bunny is very reactive and anxious about other dogs. She is kept happy, Otter is kept happy and Tenrec is kept happy. This slow introduction is in everyones interest so that they will be happy to be a family. I can’t for the life of me understand why you think that is cruel, but we are all allowed our own opinions.
@@blue2mato312 I totally agree that introductions should be monitored. But it has been far too long in my opinion. Dogs do better within a pack, even if their pack is made up of humans, cats, etc. Isolating the dogs from each other for such an extended period of time, will just cause their own adjustments to each other take longer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bunny thinks it’s some kind of punishment when they are kept apart. She clearly wants to play with Tenrec, because she asked to do so, so why keep them separated. It is stunting their relationship and seems quite controlling of the human. Additionally, Bunny’s mom misinterprets her button questions/comments quite often. Like I said, it’s just my opinion.
@@IlGattonero13 that is true. But they have colour vision similar to humans with the most common form of colour-blindness, which is red-green. So yellow and blue would be distinguishable even if red and green aren't. At least it might help in telling which ball she wants

I think it’s just her continuation of thinking about this concept and feeling like she is human, she used to become a bit upset when she was told no, she is dog animal and mom is human animal. Back before they had Otter.
I love how Bunny can express her needs, but part of me is sad how much investment is done both by Bunny and her owner when it will be lost in around 15 years. It's not meant as a criticism. I feel that even human lives are still ridiculously short and brutal.
