Of all the online (and Subaru manual) instructions on how to get automatic window function and control of passenger window from driver's side, your video was the ONLY solution that worked. Many thanks!
5yrs later..... after owning a 21 sti with none op passenger window since I got it 3 month ago (March '24) you saved my time and my cash.....big thanks!
Man, I just got back from a deployment and my window wasn't working, had me all kinds of worried. Thanks for the video, passenger window works just fine now!
Just bought a 2017 Subaru Forester drove it off the lot to find that the passenger side window would not roll down from the driver's side. Did this tip and it reset. Thank you so much!!
Had this exact issue in my 17' WRX Limited after a battery swap. I was about to tear my door apart tracing wires but found this instead. Many thanks for this video
I had a dealer do this when I got the car. Just had it happen to me after a battery died. Much rather would watch this video than ask the dealer how they did it (phone tag for days etc) thank you so much
'14 Forester, worked on my driver window. No auto up or down, and would only roll up 2 inches at a time then stop. I had to reset the switch back to normal, then pulled up halfway. Then when finally closed after 9 or so pushes, I held a full pull up for like 5 seconds. All with the driver door open. And it worked. Restored my auto function and got rid of the tiny jumps. 💯👍
Thanks! This made my day. I had the exact same problem after my battery fully died. I thought it would cost hundreds at the dealship to fix. Thanks again.
Thanks you! I just bought a used STI and the passenger window wouldn’t auto down or up and the driver side switch for the passenger window wouldn’t work. I had the dealer send me a replacement switch and I was just looking for a video how to remove the door panel and found your video, and it worked!
these instructions you provided in this video fixed my issues, my passenger window wouldnt go up or down from my driver side switch and bringing the window up from the passenger switch would go up intermittently, but your video helped remedy the issue..thanks
Genius! Your solution worked perfectly for me, in my Legacy and Forester, both of which exhibited the problem after batteries were replaced. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
I'm sitting here somewhat in shock. I came onto TH-cam to figure out how to REPLACE may passenger window switch. And what pops up but this video on a switch that gets messed up with a dead battery. I had my window FIXED in less than 2 minutes. I could kiss you right now. 🙂
Dude, Spot on , Exactly the problem I'm having, Can't wait to put this behind me. Anytime the battery is disconnected this seems to happen, and somehow by chance it solved itself last time. Now I really know how to fix it. Thank You
As of watching this video, it's 4 years old and it's still holds up. Thank you! God damn was that annoying. I was wondering why it wasn't working. I thought I might have had to bring it into a full service shop or something. Glad I didn't. Hooray for the internet!
Just found this video and had to leave a comment. Perfectly described the problem I'm having and the solution worked like a charm! Thank you! My only difference was for my 2019 premium, I had to use the "second" up position to send the window up for calibration.
This is legit ! Thank you ! I literally had to buy a new battery and now my passenger window didn’t work from driver side and this video helped me out ! Big thank you my guy ! 🤘🏼
Well I'll be a Monkey's Auntie. I had the very same problem after my 2017 Subaru Forrester's battery died and had to be replaced. I had a nightmare last night that I had a doctor's appointment and was caught in a rainstorm with the window stuck in the down position! Your video saved me 100s of dollars at the dealership......
Wow you're a life saver lol had my WRX die cause of corrosion on my positive terminal was halting enough charge to the alternator. Cleaned the corrosion, tested the battery with the dipstick to see if there was conductivity and there was, then jump started and the car is fine. Only had the car for 1 year as of last week and was freaking out lol. Wake up the next day and the auto on the driver's side for the passenger window wasn't working. I thought something got shorted out. Then I found this video. Awesome stuff thank you so much!
Holy crap it worked. I just bought a 2015 legacy and this problem happened and I was freaking out and your video came up and now it's fixed. Thank you so much
Just ANOTHER thanks! for saving me grief by going to a dealership. There oughtta be a TECH FIXES FOR SUBARUS manual(not in the manual...) And, I said to myself, "Hmmm... I wonder if a nice guy might have the simple fix to this problem, especially since I got a new battery" and here you are! My friend's Subaru can also be fixed also...
Oh my gosh! I can’t believe that worked! Thank you so much for making this video!! I was planning on having to spend money at the dealership. Nothing about that in the manual. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you sooooo much for the video I have Prius 2018 and when I replaced the aux battery it’s stop working from driver side. Watching your video I try and works perfectly fine thanks again 🎉
This worked! I thought it was melted snow water shorting the switch, my car was recently serviced and they disconnected the battery for an extended period of time. Thank you!
Dude thanks.! This is the weirdest thing I've ever heard about and I almost had to take it down to the dealer which would have probably cost me at least a hundred bucks to them just to do that! But it worked. My situation was I removed my battery because I was getting that white acid build up around the post and I cleaned it all up and applied some of that junk that you put on there to prevent the acid buildup on the cable contacts. I did not realize at the time that the window wasn't working it was several weeks later that I realized it and I thought the controller was damaged and needed to be replaced.
Subscribed! I was hoping there’s someone out there that had a guide on how to fix this! thanks a lot for this! I was planning to send it back to dealer to fix! thank God I found your video!
Man I was about to tear up my door 😂.. Thank you so much you saved my day. I check all the fuses and everything was fine.. so on my mind I was lake 😠😠💰 💴 💵 😠😠 !!! THANK YOU 🙏.!!!!
Thanks for posting this. Helped me fix my issues with the auto up/down feature in my 2018 Subaru Forester. Everything is working fine but the switch in the passenger door isn’t illuminated. I can’t remember if it was ever illuminated but I noticed yours is. Do you mind if I ask what year, model, and trim your Subaru is? Seems odd that everything would function normally if the switch isn’t illuminated. Thanks!

The internet is such a magical place. This solved my exact issue, THANK YOU!!!🙏🙏🙏

😮vvv c v
Yup...battery died from non-use of the 2017 Outback we inherited and you saved us a trip to the dealer...THANK YOU...!!!

thank you for making this video. saved me the trip and headaches at the dealer. Such a simple fix and who knows how much they would billed me with.
$460 is what they would have billed. Don’t ask me how I know. 😅
Had this exact issue in my 17' WRX Limited after a battery swap. I was about to tear my door apart tracing wires but found this instead. Many thanks for this video

Pushing halfway is very important, only person in 3 vids to point that part out. THANKS.
They don't call me hardworkrr12 for nuthin buddy. Actually nobody calls me that IRL. Thanks for watching!
Altho 3 yrs later.. my bf failed to tell me about the halfway part which is why it wasn't working. Glad he sent me this video tho. Lol

Saved my day! My Subaru car has exactly same issue for days after charging battery. Never knew there is such a trick. You are a hero!
Just picked up a used one and had this issue, thanks a bunch for explaining the solution, instructions in the manual were kind of confusing.
Replaced my battery (2016 Subaru Legacy) and then had this window reset issue. So glad you posted the fix!!
I can’t believe this is a thing.. my battery has died twice now in one week and my windows have been doing this. Thanks for the video 👏🏼
Thanks! First two vids I watched no bueno. Yours was the jackpot!
Damn!! Thanks! Just got a new battery on my 2017 STI and was having the same issue. Easy to follow and straight to the point.
these instructions you provided in this video fixed my issues, my passenger window wouldnt go up or down from my driver side switch and bringing the window up from the passenger switch would go up intermittently, but your video helped remedy the issue..thanks
No problem I'm glad it helped!

Same here! My bf tried to explain it to me, but I understood this video better than I understood him. Lol
I am flattered but spoken for.
@@CarDietrich Haha, me too, 40+ years. 😂
Just saved me from taking my car to the shop! Weird issue to have to search for but glad I found this. Thanks!
Dude, Spot on , Exactly the problem I'm having, Can't wait to put this behind me. Anytime the battery is disconnected this seems to happen, and somehow by chance it solved itself last time. Now I really know how to fix it. Thank You
Would never have figured this out on my own, thanks!
So glad I found this one! Was really confused as to why that would happen with my windows. Thank you!
As of watching this video, it's 4 years old and it's still holds up. Thank you! God damn was that annoying. I was wondering why it wasn't working. I thought I might have had to bring it into a full service shop or something. Glad I didn't. Hooray for the internet!
Wow- thank you, I have an appointment in 3 days with dealership, definitely canceling & saving lots of money $$$$. You rock❗️❗️

Saved me $145 on a new switch. i was pretty bummed when it didnt work. then watched the video, works like it did before the battery was replaced.
Thank you!!!! This is exactly what happened with my car. I thought it was a bad battery terminal. Excellent (Subaru) public service announcement!
Wow you're a life saver lol had my WRX die cause of corrosion on my positive terminal was halting enough charge to the alternator. Cleaned the corrosion, tested the battery with the dipstick to see if there was conductivity and there was, then jump started and the car is fine. Wake up the next day and the auto on the driver's side for the passenger window wasn't working. I thought something got shorted out. Then I found this video. Awesome stuff thank you so much!
Fantastic!. This trick really works. I had to unhook my window switch to install new speakers.
Holy crap it worked. I just bought a 2015 legacy and this problem happened and I was freaking out and your video came up and now it's fixed. Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Thank you from Australia , resolved my post battery change electric window issues
This saved me so much time!! It worked for my 2011 Camry and the battery had an issue. This was so simple and fixed it. Thank you thank you!!!
To the point! Thanks for the help and for not making this 20 minute video. 👍

You're welcome! It's funny to me that this trick works on Toyotas too, but I'm glad it helped you. They must use the same design on the switches
What you are saying in this video is exactly what happened to me. thanks for sharing.
oh, brilliant - thanks - i was just about to take the door apart too, but fixed within 1 minute - much appreciated (works on 1999 BE5)
This worked! I thought it was melted snow water shorting the switch, my car was recently serviced and they disconnected the battery for an extended period of time. Thank you!
You're very welcome, glad it worked!
That was great. Problem solved. The guys in the Car Service thank you too.
Thanks so much. Fixed the exact issue. Even my 2017 Subaru Forester manual does not go into the details that you show on the video :)
This is amazing and saved me so much time and hassle. Worked perfectly on my 2014 WRX
Thank you! I was about to go to the car dealer and buy another car!
My car just did this. Your video helped out alot thank you very much
Worked perfect! Super clear instructions only had to watch it once to correct issue. Huge thanks!
Did the trick. The Owners Manual was a bit ambiguous, but seeing it on video connected the dots. 2019 Outback
Thank you!! Video literally saved my brother a headache
Also works on 2021 Corolla. Thanks, saved me a lot of time
Thank you so much! I had the same problem with my Subaru, and I was able to fix without tearing apart the door 🙂

Thank you for this! I thought I was going to have to take my car back to the shop to tell them they'd hooked something back up incorrectly
Thank you! The other videos failed to mention the switch positions and the resets obviously never worked.
Glad I could help!
Thanks man. You saved me a lot of work. 2021 Subaru wrx here. ❤️
