  • Welcome to "Road to the EU Elections" Episode 2! Today, we shine a spotlight on France's political transformation, where the dominant National party will influence the EU elections greatly.
From Marine Le Pen's National Rally climbing from a modest 6% in 2009 to a leading 29% in the polls, to Emmanuel Macron's struggle amidst widespread protests, we're breaking down the pivotal moments and what they mean for France and the EU. With the EU elections on the horizon, we'll dissect how the changing political tides in France could reshape its representation in the European Parliament and impact the broader European political landscape. We'll look into the alliances that are crucial in EU politics, including Le Pen's affiliation with the eurosceptic I&D group and Macron's connection to the pro-EU Renew Europe.
This video is part of a weekly series where we shine light on the European elections in 3 parts: A spotlight story, the polls and then the race for commission president. The EU elections are on the 9th of June 2024 so make sure to subscribe and stay tuned for election updates.

One thing that has to be mentioned in this discussion is that turnout for EU elections across Europe but especially in France tends to be abyssmal with generally only the people angry with the current government and Europhiles casting votes. That's important because it can heavily skew the numbers in projections; if more people turn out and vote Le Pen can get a lot less votes than she's currently polling. Also the Euroskeptic politics can get a lot more muddled because there tends to be a lot more variation between member states than is usually assumed. For example, currently, most of the French political spectrum besides Renaissance and few minor parties is Euroskeptic with both Melanchon and Le Pen being in favor of unworkable reforms of the EU with the threat of Frexit whereas Meloni, and her Brothers of Italy, have been so cooperative they're practically Europhilic on the European level. That means that the worst impulses of both Le Pen and Melanchon at the European level will have to be tempered.

European MEPs: Why has energy sector, which was built purely with taxpayers' money, i.e. hydropower and nuclear power, been run down and transferred to the hands of big capital, like the wood processing industry. Which do not need energy BECAUSE THEY PRODUCE THEMSELVES energy in excess of their own use.
Both P.., V... and K.. sell electricity to their owners at cost price. The actual cost price is 0.5 - 1.0 cents per kWh. These companies and all counterpower and district heating companies that also produce electricity get district heating on top of the sale. Only a heat exchanger is needed instead of a condenser.
In addition, it is clear when you compare the power (MW) in relation to the output (TWh) that you notice that, for example, V.. runs at 40% short load.
This is a fact. It would not be worthwhile to try to deceive those who understand the field.
Why would nature be of interest to MEP S when they are not interested in the most important thing, i.e. money? None of the future MEPs participating in the European elections are interested in the fact that European workers bear the majority of the tax burden, i.e. 7,000 billion euros?
Why don't the players in the derivatives trade (with a volume of 452,900 billion euros) pay enough tax on the 6% average profit they receive? The tax collection (1.9%) would generate a whopping 8,000 billion euros.
Why don't those who already have all of our money and capital want to participate in society's obligations?
Before, at the beginning of the 20th century, when the industry was being built, the factory owners built the apartments, hospitals, schools and pensions THEMSELVES with their own money, although even that money was collected thanks to the employees.
Doesn't the truth no longer apply that what is not right or reasonable cannot be law?
You might want to check out ESMA's report: EU derivatives market - a first time overview! (Combine data from all six trade repositories)

I think that in the end, during the run-off, Le Pen will lose. However, France remains the third most progressive European nation after Spain and Portugal. Even if he were to win I don't think there is anything to worry about, there is a huge difference between an opposition politician and a government politician, in the first case he can say whatever he wants, in the second case not (think of the possibility that the titles of state depreciate) and much less can he do what he wants.

So, yes, leaving the EU would be a very bad idea (as Brexit demonstrates), but the EU in its present state is not satisfactory anymore; we ask for a real union of European peoples and nations, for the protection of our European cultures, not the union of nationless globalist bureaucrats that the EU has become.

States (nations) all over the world, are not the real holders of power anymore, through acquisitions and mergers, businesses have become multinationals. As a result they have eliminated competition, grown exponentially higher in power and revenue. Multinationals as they are today have grown more and more powerful in proportion to the state (Nation) and worker, thus turning those very same workers into modern day slaves. The average worker today works long hours for a non living wage. Profits of multinationals have not only risen but, have gone to the top of the pyramid, less to the worker, and less to the state in the form of taxes. Furthermore, the lack of competition has stifled innovation and our abilities to solve the many challenges we face. Corporations use Lobbying as a way to pursue their own interests, at the expense of the workers, consumers, and the environment. Lobbying has also helped increase corruption and made politicians more and more accountable to those same multinationals that lobby or pressure them, and less and less accountable to the interests and well-being of the people. Furthermore the identity of the person or society used to rest with its faith through religion, later on people were grouped together into separate nations based on similar cultures, race, or ethnicity. Now under capitalism the person's identity rests with where they work or what they do.

If there is one thing I've learned over the years of being alive is that left, right of politics, it doesn't really mean much overall.
I see a consistent pattern that seems to happen, left wing parties gain power and are giving a chance, only for little to really change, years or a decade later, the right wing parties gain power, and again, not much really changes, and we keep seeing this seesaw that swings from left to right every decade or so.
It's easy to understand why this happens, one side or the other are giving a chance by the voters, but not much changes, so they give the other side a chance, ultimately, not much really changes regardless of which side voters pick, and it's clear to see that voters want major changes.
Then there is the people, we keep hearing a lot about these radical parties taking over, but if you look closely, any that get close or into power, they tone things down a lot that they seem like a very moderate party, that isn't by chance, to appeal to more voters, you have to become more moderated in your policies, after all, if the radical parties went ahead with the policies they really want to do, how long do you think they will last in power? Probably not long, and they'll probably never get back into power again if they rock the boat too much.
Ultimately, what most voters want is stability, more equality, fairness and for things to get better, the mainstream parties have been lacking in those areas over the last decade or so in Europe and North America, so it really boils down to, can these alternative parties shake things up, especially in Europe, I suspect probably not, because it's easy to promise the earth when not in power, once in power, reality bites on what agendas they can push, it's also why I don't see these radical parties as a threat, because they would only be a threat if the majority of the population becomes radical, which we are far from that, but ultimately, the reason these are being given a chance is because people want change, but don't expect much change as reality bites.

As for an alliance with the EPP, it's also hardly imaginable. Most parties of the right wing european group are moderates and would refuse any alliance with ID and ECR. Let's not forget Ursula von der Leyen was from this group before becoming president of the european commission. Plus, EPP has variable positions regarding immigration, many parties composing it playing the "hard on immigration" card just before elections and then switching back after, like the french conservative party the Republicans.
The most probable scenario remains an alliance between ID and ECR.

The National Rally ex-national front has still twice been 2nd in a presidential election and the last time it was 52% Macron and 48% Le Pen.
In addition, with the left-wing politics pursued for 40 years in France, declaring oneself to be radical right is very frowned upon and many people say what others want to hear but in the secrecy of the voting booth things are very different.

Bullshit. If you live in France, it's alternative one. Declaring oneself to be radical right is now less and less uncommon and frown upon. "Left wing politics"? Left of what, of radical right? Chirac and his friends were prime ministers because the left couldn't keep people's trust (rightfully. They were almost all crooks and liars but denied it louder than anyone), then, for 17 years, there had been a right wing president, with what? 5 years of left ministers due to Chirac's attempt to purge his own garden? That still makes it 12 years of NOT LEFT presidency.
Balladur, Juppé, Raffarin, Hortefeux....did they exist in YOUR parallel France? In ours, they led a NOT LEFTIST plan during Mitterand, Chirac and Sarkozy's rule. And with Macron being the worst piece of crap in the known universe AND the president, i can tell you people don't care anymore about saying they'll vote for Le Pen, especially in rural area (which is a given).
I'd advise you to come and see OUR France before commentating on it, but i don't think you'd like it. Or we'd like you. You wouldn't care anyway, nor would we.
Btw, The National Rally ex-national front had been THRICE 2nd in a predidential election. First one was in 2002. And anyone living in real France would remember, granted they were old enough (i was a teen back then) the absolute SCARE and confusion it gave to everyone.

What's the most disturbing thing, is those guys from RN doesn't impact european policy as much as they willing to make their electoral basis to believe it. They're here to collect money.
It's pathetic to see how much some desperate people are willing to vote for such crime against thinking organisation.

While Marine Le Pen is welcome I think Europe still needs Macron as it needs Merkel, provided Macron sees the reality and is not stuck with ideologies or principles.
And for Europe and for France the European Union is important.

Marine le Pen is a charlatan. She runs a family political business that brings in money and allows her to run in every presidential election. The National Rally is an opposition party, not a party capable of governing. There is a lack of talent and ideas.
As for Macron, I would rather say that he is in denial of reality, in permanent self-satisfaction while he has ruined and degraded the country. Honestly, my country has become a burden for the EU. According to local and international economists, its economic situation could cause the Eurozone to break up and be at the heart of a next major economic crisis.
