To all those indians that think not visiting the Maldives will somehow cause their economy to suffer, remember indians only make up 11% of visitors to the Maldives, and indians don't spend anywhere near as much as other visitors so only contribute less then 6% of total tourism revenue in the Maldives. I'm sure the Maldives can mange not having indians coming to their islands. They can now also get rid of all those indian workers working in their hotels too.
And self respect too. Why you want to visit a country who insult you? They called Indian tourists "smelly"

I was all set to leave for maldives with my family next month. I cancelled the flight and hotel bookings as soon as came across this. It costed me 15% to cancel everything, but it's worth it. Jai hind!!

I was planning to spend a few days coming summer in Maldives with family. I had a budget of 3 lacs for this trip, but decided to cancel this trip after this incident and go to Lakshadweep so that we can contribute to our country and the local people in Lakshadweep

I haven't travelled much but my friend who has travelled to both Maldives and Lakshadeep said Lakshadeep is worth the money whereas she found Maldives extremely expensive and not worth it. We should all plan our trip to Lakshadweep instead of Maldives because I’m convinced we would get respect and better treatment from there😊
I have visited both Lakswadeep and maldives... Lakswadeep is jndeed more beautiful than maldives and i request government to develop Lakswadeep as a tourist destination in harmony with nature.

I was about to visit Maldives for my honeymoon as i recently got married but now I’ve cancelled my bookings which was non-refundable, i am in loss of almost 67k but nothing is bigger than my country’s pride and honour, to hell with Maldives and their tourism, I’ll visit Andaman and Nicobar or Lakshadweep instead ❤
