    Technically the humans broke the treaty first so Prince Nuada was perfectly within his rights to attack. That said, if the fairies have just gone public with a worldwide press conference they'd find a big chunk of humanity willing to support them.

      Actually not so much. Even if the mythic creatures did expose themselfs they would more than likely be scene as a threat Hour the humans would of forced them to be weapons. It’s a story so anything could be done but if you want to make it be as realistic as possible than the humans would be a problem.

      You're a moron if you think humanity would give a shit about elves. Slavery, prostitution, resources.... humanity is a nasty piece of work. If you think they would uphold their end of the bargain, you're a bigger moron than I'd have thought. Money rules the world, just as the brazilians utterly destroying the rain forest.

There is an old native american saying: there are two wolves in the human soul: the black made of darkness an evil, and the white made of light and love, which will win, depends of wich you will feed!!! Such a good preformance from a not so well knowned actor- Luke Goss. You can feel Nuadas pain and what he is going through, and humanities nature- as we also know it- makes you sympathise with him even if he is an extremist. He is broken inside but at the same time very resolute and displays so much over the whole emotional spectrum and that makes him so multi-facetted on many levels. The one film you almost wish the "bad guy" would have won.

There are consequences to breaking pacts and clearly the humans have a higher birth rate and don't honor pacts, so what? A huge battle every couple thousand years? Nah, one genocide and that's it, i couldn't agree with him more.

    I'm going to be completely honest the Hellboy films were not appreciated in their time they were very overlooked films for the times they were in. It's a shame they weren't made in this time because films like Guardians of the Galaxy kind of opened up that opportunity for comic book films that weren't very much known with the audience.

    • @CabezasDePescado
      @CabezasDePescado 6 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      But this has a good tone, GotG is filled with out of place, forced and artificial jokes that are not funny and drag on too long, is all because of disney of course and this movie do have some dumb jokes too.

    • @OniDasAlagoas
      @OniDasAlagoas 6 ปีที่แล้ว +112

      You are mistaken. Movies like Hellboy, Spider Man and X-MEN were the ones that opened the opportunity for Marvel/Disney movies to be a success.

    • @CabezasDePescado
      @CabezasDePescado 6 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Not exactly, to put an example, if this was a mcu movie, Prince Nuada would start dancing after killing his father, and the audience would laugh. Of course that sucessful movies from one genre paved the way for more of them to come, but what disney does with Marvel is something else.
      A good example of it is Thor Ragnarok, which has nothing to do with Thor, or Marvel, or the actual Ragnarok, and has Thor, Loki, Hela, Odin, and Hulk, all acting out of character just because the focus is in making a comedy, because they cloneD thE Gotg style because they did not know what to do with the character. If you read the comic book you would discover a work of art, if you watch the movie you might have fun for a while, but then you will completely forget about it, as it has actually happened.

      Agreed. He's a similar archetype as the Magneto character; look at what he's fighting for, and why he pursues the tactics he chooses. These may seem villainous from certain perspectives, and certainly are extreme... But if we examine things dispassionately, it's not difficult to see why he perceives no other path. He's not fighting for his own glory or power; he's fighting to preserve his own kind, and the non-human realm.

      His character was probably speaking their language but they made him speak English for the audience's benefit, that's done in quite a lot of things actually. Like Star Trek where the Klingon's speak their language initially then switch to English so the actors could act more and because that language was harsh on the ears. So as far as the characters are concerned he was speaking elvish or w/e unless it gets addressed.

    Nuada Argetlámh, Nuada Silver-hand, is the character out of Irish Mythology who this badass is based off of. The thing is, being a tribal society that he was from at the time, it was the fittest who had to be High King, and so an elder unable to get out of his chair would have been a person trusted for counsel but would not have been the one to call the shots.
    How he got his Silver Arm, which in itself is a metaphor for artifice, is that he lost it in a duel he won against a prior settled tribe in Ireland, one on one against a dude called Sreng, and unlike the knaves of other cultures, when we had honorable duels, we upheld them. Unfortunately the loss of an arm led to a new High King being throned, a pretty-word, pretty-faced, black-hearted two-faced wanker called Bres, who was going to sell us all out to the Formorians, a race of Demonic Pirates. But Goibhniu being a fucking lad of a blacksmith got him a silver arm smithed for him, and before he passed it on, he wielded this motherfucker of a blade. The Whispering blade, Fragarach, which translates as The Answerer. Basically, if you're capable of wielding it and worthy of acknowledgement of the 4 treasures of Ireland, including the sword itself, then you were pretty much as unstoppable as is depicted in this scene here. Of course, it's not the sword doing all the work, but it does have the interesting power to force the truth out it people when its edge is at someone's throat...
    Either way, Nuada was a goddamn badass, and although he was fiercely loyal to his people, he was a reasonable and just man as well.

    • @TOUGHEYES
      @TOUGHEYES 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@diegowushu Yeah, The Irish mythology around the Tuatha Dé Danann is pretty cool. We only got fragments from Christian monks who had their own biases, surely, but they weren't too bad about these corners of the tales. It was a generational story, and came long before the Cúchulainn stories, in which he's essentially a mix of the Irish Incredible Hulk (due to his Riastradh, his "flesh change") and Chuck Norris memes.
      It also has strong male role models who weren't afraid to offend people who deserved it , which is an interesting thing to consider with the amount of fucking pussies we have nowadays in Ireland. They never listened to these tales, and neither did three generations before us, and it shows.
      The thing with Nuada, I guess, is that you don't even have to be a big man to be a strong one.

      seriously? take as an example a fiction book? concretely, in reality, has a land already become sterile because of blood? blood is organic like flesh, and like flesh, it breaks down. so unless you give a real example, the princess is wrong.

    • @joshuafogg6600
      @joshuafogg6600 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Éfar Isti Something like The Red Fallows _can_ happen in real life. Ever heard of the term "Scorch the Earth and salt what remains"? Blood has nutrients, true. So what is known as Blood and Bone fertilizer is obviously feasible. But then there is the very real example of too much of a good thing. That's why The Red Fallows are called such: the amount of blood (with the subsequent iron and salt that is in blood) chokes the earth rather than nourishes it. Just because it's in fiction, does not mean that there isn't a basis behind it.

    • @efaristi9737
      @efaristi9737 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      the problem of fiction is that it's fiction, it's not because it happens that it can happen in reality. Yes there is salt and iron in the blood, but I dare not imagine the quantities that would be necessary to sterilize a soil (if it is possible) it must ask a quantity of victims close to the world wars. the only example of sterilization of the land with the war I know is Rome and carthage and they used large amounts of salts, not blood. it never happened in real life.

      Theoretically, yes. The problem being that as soon as you inject the PROFIT factor into things, any thoughts of taking care of the environment and everything in it goes out the window. Taking care of the earth is not PROFITABLE or CONVENIENT which is why environmentalism has always been an uphill struggle. It's so much easier (and cheaper) to just dump your toxic waste in the nearest river than to take it somewhere to be processed into an inert form for disposal.

Nature is not about wolves living peacefully along deers, it's about having a natural balance between them and keep each other's population under control. Too many wolves or too many deers can both be disastrous for the environment.

    • @wgemini4422
      @wgemini4422 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Humans, germs, makes no difference to nature. What are the benefits of sentient beings to nature? Nothing. Without the humans, nothing much would change, other than less pollution. Without the germs the circle of life can't complete. No matter how self glorified you are, you actually contribute to nature much less than germs do. We evolved a mere 200,000 years ago and most of that were in the shape of apes. There's no guarantee we would last another 200,000 years. Billions years from now, human race would be nothing more than a footnote in the history of earth, let alone individuals.
      BTW, in case you didn't know, nature kills about 6000 people each hour. We intentionally (wars, crimes, suicides) kill about 200 each hour, far more unintentionally. Sentient beings are not as precious as you think.
      That's not to say Prince Nuada was right. Humans are even less significant to nature than he thinks. Even if we nuked the earth to nothingness, nature has seen far worse. "Life, uh, finds a way." Plus, he couldn't "genocide" trillions anyway since there's no trillions of humans on earth. :)
      BTW, in the movie universe, prince Nuada was not destined to kill billions. There were only 4900 golden soldiers and they couldn't even kill faster than our own war machines. Hellboy was the one destined to destroy the world and Elizabeth chose him over billions of "sentient beings". Who is the villain here?

    Prince Nuada's the only self-respecting elf in that room. If I were non-human I would have joined his cause. His decrepit father and doe-eyed sister won't put up a fight for their own lives, let alone their people.

    I just realized something watching this video: I wonder if humans are so greedy in this universe because we don't live long. The elves live hundreds of years while most humans never make it to 100, so we're in this mad dash to acquire all the things because we know our days are short. I imagine it would be easy to foster patience and wisdom when being 100 is equivalent to being a pre-teen.
