    How do you like the Oak Stills equipment? Is it good quality and craftmanship? Is the company reasonable to work with? I'm very interested in their flute still and you seem to be the only man on YT who has any of their stuff! Thanks in advance!

    My daughter dated a guy in high school and his parents made the best homemade wine. They were originally from Poland. I hope you teach someone this skill. It's really valuable to know how to make whiskey.

    Add a short 1" extension to your parrot. Use a piece of clear tygon tube that slips over the pipe. This will allow you to use a longer/standard hydrometer.

    Have you tried running the reflux pipe section over the bubble plates? Did it make any difference?

    You know all you'd have to do to your parrot is add a copper sleeve over the stainless steel one so your hydrometer would work in it

      @@spikelove9533 I bought a 4 tube deflegmater from Oak stills. It works fantastic on my 2 inch column. I also purchased a half inch stainless steel needle valve to fine-tune the water flow into the Deflegmater, this works out really good. I just use a PVC gate valve to open and close the flow to my shotgun condenser. I also purchased their 3 inch stainless steel gin basket, although it has 2 inch 90 going into it and a 2 inch 90 coming out of it. This is a very nice piece of equipment also, although like you say the clamps are shit. Next up I’m going to fully insulate my boiler, column and the deflegmater and gin basket. I love playing the home version of distilling! Great video man, keep them coming.

      I'm glad you like the toys. I like all of oakstills stough so far. Decent quality and prices. I ended up going with copper flutes. I sold the column in the video to a friend.

    Gold is ground. H&B will tell you the same. Seems like you were just wrong in your assumption of what side of the switch was 1 and 2 and how ground is marked. You did end up getting it right in the end though.

    Very cool. Would suggest you look at maybe swopping the hoses on your dephlegmator. Assuming blue is your cold water inlet.

      George from Barley and Hops explained why you run the supply on the lower and return on the top connection. This way it removes all air that would otherwise be trapped in the water side of the exchanger. Normally you are correct.

    • @danielanderson635
      @danielanderson635 ปีที่แล้ว

      If he switched it then it'd be wrong. He has it right. I have 30 years distilling oil gas and chemicals and I have never seen an overhead condenser or any other heat exchanger fed from the top and exit from the bottom. To remain liquid full it has to be filled from the bottom and exit the top.

      How many plates do you have ? You need to reflux a lot with a bubble plate column unless it has a lot of plates.

      @@niklashultkrantz7766 4 plates is hard to make 90% once the alcohol content in the mash drops unless you have a lot of reflux. A packed column works better.
