I like how last ep it felt like Jon getting his powers was kinda rushed in that he instantly had all of them and could use them but in this ep it is made clear that yes he has all the powers, but he has none of the fine tuning required to use them as well as Jordan and Clark which makes me feel better about him getting powers so late in the game
I think Jonathan was overcome more based on his mental state. We know he should be able to take out the fire guy but it is still his first time facing an actually adversary and he's on his own. He was sending Jordan at first and it never occurred to him that he could do, so it tells you there was still some apprehension about going solo even though it was "just a fire". He dealt with the fire confidently but he was definitely not mentally prepared to deal with one of Lex's men.
i absolutely agree with your criticism about flame thrower man ... he would not be using a kryptonite weapon because he was trying to kill the hench lady and not expecting a kryptonian. i think a more believable peril to place upon jonathan would have been for him to be facing two threats or two potential saves at the same time ... which would have required help.
The part where Jonathan reacts to the fire guy, I just thought it was something he hasn’t really encountered and displayed fear due to inexperience. He’s only recently got his powers and although he was fine, maybe it was his normal human reaction
I'm sorry, I didn't particularly care for this ep. I never cared about Chrissy and Mr. Cushing's relationship last season... I know they have to wrap up all the threads before the show ends but wow... in this shorter season, this felt like it didn't need a whole ep dedicated for this long.
This episode was very much filler, but I think it served its part on being a bit of a breather after how emotionally heavy the first 3 episodes were in this final season

A juiced up Superman by Sun Dipping would probably overwrite all the faults in his new heart. Another example of their high speed adaptation is Doomsday himself. The reason Doomsday even existed is because of an experiment that tried to take Kryptonian adaptability to its extreme

He didn’t have those powers inside Zod’s ship but he instantly adaptated to the ship’s atmosphere after initially suffocating. Zod makes it a point that he not be given a breathing apparatus as Kryptonian dna will allow Kal to instantly adapt to the atmosphere, and he does a few seconds later. Yeah they've used the "dream a montage of highlights of your family to get more powerful" trope like 5 or 6 times this series I don't mind them using the sun again

Clark hears fine out of his left ear when Jordan asked if he heard that, then he tunes right in on where Jonathan is and handles the situation fine. He breathed in then smoke and heat just fine. Even with the General Lane's heart being hooked up to his own Kryptonian lungs, he had no problems.
I found the fire scene baffling. Why did Jonathan walk through the fire at all? Shouldn’t he have been able to blow it out? How did Gretchen/Cheryl just disappear? Was she in on some sort of setup, but for what purpose? Is she the one who leaked Superman’s return? Why would Clark appear as Superman when Lex is supposed to think he’s still dead? I wanted some missing scenes too, like the scene between Clark and his mother when he came back and the scene of Clark finding out about Jonathan. Other than those nitpicks, I enjoyed the episode.
Could you consider a Kevin Conroy tribute? Nov 10th marks 2nd anniversary of his death. I got a voice acting background and his voice was an inspiration for me since Batman the Animated Series. I made a tribute to him using the classic BtAS toys with footage from Arkham and Injustice but I don't got ur reach, and he deserves much bigger tribute.
Hello, Boba! Great video! I also wondered about Jonathan being able to walk through fire. But then getting thrown at the gate and hitting the floor. When Jordan sends Jon out to deal with the fire, Jon is worried and tells Jordan that he doesn't have his fire suit (as a fireman). Jon has JUST gotten his powers and so, he's still thinking like a human. He needs more training from his dad in how to use his powers more effectively. Superman's new suit! Awesome! We know that Clark's human mother, Martha made his first super suit. Would it be safe to assume his Kryptonian mother, Lara created for him his current suit? I wonder if Lara will make the Jordan and Jonathan their super suits? It's quite possible!
They didn't need the wedding drama. Get married, Don't get married, with this crazy season....it doesn't matter to the story. I like Jordon....I want him to find himself. And agree the kids powers are super inconsistent. The first season they said Jordon would never be really super powered.. But both kids are only a slight downgrade from their dad.
Clark had already been back for 3 weeks. So his nerding out at Jonathan having powers was off screen. He knew Jonathan already had powers. He was surprised at Jonathan's speed acclamation to his powers when they went training. Guess you missed it.
Amazing season so far. Fair to pinpoint areas that could be improved. Love the no dialogue scene at the beginning And yeah, agree on the point about Jon being knocked out by the fire blast. Doesn't really make sense. Still love the show enough to let these slip.
I took the flame thrower scene as , you could walk through a waterfall but if you get hit with like jetting water out of a powerful enough hose it’ll knock you down. And the fence I’d assume he wasn’t actively using his powers like he was when he flew through the iceberg. He was focused when he was flying alone , and more distracted during his save.

I think the Fire through was made up by Jonatan, because he doesn't wanted to show to Charlote, he had superpowers. If you see before Superman came he was almost ready to do something (so I guess to use his powers), but Supeman came just in time

I feel like one of Clark issues or "limitations" are from his mental health. Its all in his head. Like we seen in this episode, when he got into the fight with the fire guy, he did not get hurt from it. Or he couldn't hear the fire until he was told, and when he flew away he was able to find the place.
Lois was having her radiation treatment, not surgery. 🙂 That's already happened I believe. She's mentioned her radiation treatment this season, so that's a regular thing for her right now...
My theory is Jordan has been infected/controlled by Brainiac through Luthor’s mobile phone. I think he acted very strange in the last episode that he intentionally put Jonathan and Superman in dangerous situations.
2 online reviews I read said that Luther’s henchman was wearing “X-Kryptonite fire gauntlets” . I don’t know how they ascertained that, but I suppose it would be an explanation for it being effective on Jonathan?
That most certainly would but that was also most certainly not explained by the writers? (Unless it's been confirmed that's what these are from a previous season).
I'm going out on a limb, Superman's body rejects Sam's heart leading to a double heart transplant between Jordan and Clark as Jordan's heart has Kryptonian DNA and Jordan coming to terms that he wasn't meant to be a hero, but feels that this will erase all past mistakes and disappointments and being a hero in a different manner.
Boba unrelated but I don't know if you been noticing but DC fans have been commenting on Brandon Sklenars Social Media about him being fancasted as Batman for DCU and he's been noticing the comments even responding to them, I think it's safe to say there's a possibility that we can get him as Batman!
We still cut back to him getting blasted again and I'm pretty sure that given he's fairly impervious to fire, he could super speed around this dude and absolutely wreck him.
I really had problems with this episode. Clark coming back was just so rushed. I feel like we needed an episode of him in the Fortress waking up, talking with Lara, sort of getting caught up with being alive. It was just incredibly jarring how fast we got to him being back home. I would have sacrificed the Kyle/Christy stuff because what a waste of time. They even introduced a new character in Chrissy's mom when we really don't have time for nonsense like that.
I thought they'd be putting in Doomsdays heart after killing him somehow, which would have made infinitely more sense. Maybe that ends up happening after they kill Doomsday, as plainly he has to go at some point. I can't see it all coming to an end with Superman not being so super anymore.
If that guy was the one setting the building on fire why didn't he just torch Gretchen from the beginning? She was tied to that stand pipe so it's not like it would've looked like an accident. Maybe they were trying to lure Jordan there
