- This matchup was too big for Texas so we brought it to THIS vs THAT! On THIS side Beto from @ONDGAS is back with Crawfish, his twin turbo’d 1,600 horsepower “work” Silverado. On THAT side Chris’s “street” Nissan GT-R R35 is bumper to bumper carbon fiber to make up for the beefy 4.3L Billet engine care of those madlads at @TheShopHouston ! I agree, having a 3 speed shows in that race too, that last gear slapped the rpm too low. A 4spd seems like a better choice with a tall 1st
@@saltyfloridaman7163 not really. Having like a 700r4 or some other 4 speed usually have a higher numerical 1st gear. Which isn't always the best. Having some load out on 1st would be ideal. Too much gear ( numerical )would make you spin and you won't get the take off.
But than again it's awd... and 1500hp... if the guy was running the same hp... I think it would be the favor of the truck. The th400 is a all around good trans. And more beefier than the 2 speed powerglide. I wonder what transfercase and front diff he's using to mat up with a th400 input shaft... probably hd stuff.

That's the speeds where the cars aerodynamics really start coming into play, the GTR is cutting through the air a lot more efficiently than the truck. I love fast trucks but just the way it is

@@raymeekss incorrect, it's the fact that the truck has a 3 speed transmission vs the gtr using a 6 speed. The taller gearing hinder acceleration as shown when it shifted and the gtr started pulling ahead

Man that bonus round was absolutely the best race I've seen in this whole series. Both sleds are top notch as are the drivers.
The best way to win this vs that is, whomever takes the first win, should also jump on the second race because it's a guaranteed win if the other driver chases...which is basically 100% of the time.

I don't think that thing is anywhere near 4000 lbs in that stripped out form. Probably weighs about the same as that full-fat GTR

@@toddp9286 it actually does weigh that much. The truck accelerated better because the LSX is a superior engine. It's powerband is very linear and 90% its torque is available at 2k rpm. You can see the 3 speed transmission hinder acceleration from very tall gearing, but all and all, the truck performed well above expectations

For the truck to weigh more, have 3 less gears and have 400 less horsepower than the GTR it did exceptionally well. Huge props to the people over at ONDGAS they built a monster!

@@HptChris true however recently they’ve been growing when it comes to Motorsports. Tx2k23 was rumored to being moved out there before they announced it will be in Houston again. Plus a lot of people that actually hold drift events come from Dallas. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a few decent cars out there
If that GTR can run on widely available pump gas (91/93 or E85), it's a street car, if it can't, it's a race car that can drive on the streets. That's the criteria.
I'd say that's a decent rule
Nissan recommends at least 98 and apparently it is quite noticable if you only run it at 93.

Man that last race. PERFECT start and both went strong! That GTR did what you would expect 500 more HP, less weight and WAY better aero, but it took all that just to match the launch of that truck!

@Conquering Death when the gtr shifted into 6th he had alot more to stretch. That's truck was just about at its peak in that gear, he needed a 6th gear... hence my comment.

I'm starting to see a pattern where owners of overly built cars often emphasize their build is a "street car", and people with barely built cars sometimes insist on calling their cars a "track car", just because they've been to the track once.
Ya that seems to be the trend. Some down play the car and others try to over sale the car and themselves.

I saw this thing run passes at TX2K this year. It was NASTY! This is my second favorite GTR build I saw at the event, right behind Lambo Assassin's 3,000hp~ GTR. I was never a GTR fan I didn't like them very much but damn I've grown to love them as of late. George Dodworth's RWD "Nightfury" was super sick too.
Alpha Omega GTR's have been dominant on the streets for over 12 years...
