The writers did plan on bringing back the mud dogs, but too bad the second season was cut in half before it would see the light of day, maybe they would've gotten Sean Astin by then
As someone who grew up with the 2012 teenage mutant ninja turtles, having these cameos was such a treat for me. When I realized there voices I could not stop smiling and I legit think I teared up a bit lol.
I used to watch a bit of the 2012 TMNT. And it was okay. I didn't really get it cause i was born in the later half of the first millenia. Straight up 2000.
Before knowing about the cancellation/pause, in my mind I had the idea of an episode where they, along with Heinous Green, would take the name "Mad Dogs" and rise to the surface to commit crimes, blame the turtles and ruin the name, only to get revenge on Raph. The Turtles would obviously win, but with their name being ruined, they would end up going by the nickname "TMNT" eventually in that episode.
I love how they're the VAs of the 2012 turtles and as someone who loves antagonists that reflect the protagonists, I think they'd have made amazing reoccurring characters for the Rise boys to face off with. There would have been so much comidic potential and could have served great character development!
@@kenyonmanning2574 yea this was meant to be a joke about how real life TMNT fans were surprised to see that Raph was not only older than Leo but also the leader
I could not stop my self from smiling on this scene my only problem is that they didn’t bring raph’s old voice Sean. I love how since raph is the leader in rise they made a little joke about blue guy saying that he is usually the leader since Leo is usually the leader
The fact that they had the og voice actors from TMNT 2012 had me jumping out of my seat with excitement. Too bad they didn't get Sean Astin to play Heinous Green.
@@tonyleidyiii1652They were probably going to get Sean back for the Mud Dog sequel episode, but as you probably already know, Nick shortened and eventually canceled the series…at least for now.
I love how they got 3/4 voice actors to do a cameo but Greg, the voice of Mikey and beast boy from teen titans is also the voice for S.H.E.L.D.O.N, also on this note of these three, I love how 2012 voice actors where in this episode. It brought a smile to my face and memories back. It generally amazed me that they where villains as well. They played it across so well! Edit: The voice actor of robin from teen titans plays as ‘Dale’ in an episode and the voice actor of 2012 Donnie is also the voice actor for foot liutentant
Ngl they still got it down. The TMNT VA's I mean it just gives me such a nice feeling to see them make cameos. I may not have watched much of the 2012 versions but it still feels nice, and subtly nostalgic.
Even though I prefer this show of the 2012 one you gotta admit the voice actors from the 2012 would did a good job, I think it’s fun they got brought back to play characters in this way
I feel like their VAs is like nostalgia for modern fans, cause I assume a lot of young fans grew up with the 2012 series. I also imagine that to an average viewer, the Mud Dogs would simply be parodies of the turtles, like the Punk Frogs.
The fact that their names are Leonard, Dannie and Mickey is even better cuz that's usually what a lot of people mispronounce the turtles names as 💀 Also Holy heck how I've missed their voices 😭😭😭😭 I'm actually fkn sobbing rn hearing Seth's (VA of 2012 Leo) voice acting
Me too. Since his performance in five episodes of Super Shredder was some of his best and very emotional. You can feel Leo's pain and sadness in his voice when Splinter got killed by Super Shredder.
All the turtles have nemesis: Donnie got the Purple Dragons I consider Hypno-Pottamus to be Leo's Mikey got Meat Sweat And Raph has Ghost Bear But I find the two last way too similar (their role-models suddenly becoming villains because their careers got destroyed) so I would absolutely love if the Mud Dogs became Raph's antagonists. Plus it's a very interesting dynamic. Like we first think Donnie creates machines for his ego but it's actually to protect his family and make them proud while the Purple Dragons first gave the illusion they wanted to make scientific progress when in reality they steal others invention for their own ego. So Raph fighting look-alikes of his brothers who are full-on criminals when he considers his brothers to be the purest creatures on Earth is quite funny.
Even though they're supposed to be the turtles "counterparts" I've always wondered how old they are. Some of them give me teenager vibes while others give me adult vibes-
In Rise, Raph was 15 or maybe 16, Leo and Donnie were 14 (hence why fans headcanon them as twins) and Mikey was 13. In the Netflix movie they were 2 years older
God, I remember when I first watched this episode I heard Rob Paulsen's voice from a MILE away, and I searched for half an hour just to know for sure that dastardly danny was him.
Damn Chris is a Gang leader Don now? I really like this cameo of the 2012 cast. Wish they make a cross over since the Rise tmnt are aware of alternate universes
Never have I wanted this much to know plenty plenty more about a copycat version of any group of protagonists. I love their design, I love their still basic dynamic, I love they've got 2012 voices, I love they're villains. I love them.
Is it ironic these Mud Dogs wearing their outfits based on their roles and Ninja Turtles counterpart from TMNT 2012 ? Blue for Leonardo, Orange for Michealangelo, and Purple for Donatello. And it's really cool to hear the voice actors of 3 out 4 Ninja Turtles reprised their roles as villians instead of their hero counterparts from the TMNT 2012 series. Their performance in the TMNT 2012 series especially in Season 4 and 5 are some of the best and emotional moments in this franchise.
I rewatched all of TMNT 2012 in English (as a kid I watched it in Dutch) before watching ROTTMNT and I can't tell you how happy I was to hear their voices again
0:33, yeah I agree in all the turtle media Leo’s the leader and suddenly. In this show Raph’s the leader. This is the first time someone else is the leader in the show and not Leo what’s next is Donnie gonna be the leader than Mikey cause that would be funny.
Loathsome Leonard - Seth Green (Chris griffin - Scott Evil) Dastardly Danny - Rob Paulsen (The Mask - Carl wheezer - Major Glory - Pinky) Malicious Mickey - Greg Cipes (Beast Boy - Chiro - Tad - Craz) Rageful Ralph - Sean Astin (Mikey the Goonie - Samwise Gamgee)
It’s always funny/interesting seeing how the turtles would barely stand a chance against any of the other Yokai and Mutants in the series, knowing that by the finale/movie, they no doubt became the powerful beings on their planet.
I love how 2018 Raph is just trying to talk and scheme himself out of the situation when he is clearly a big enough powerhouse to beat the snout out of these guys and toss em in the slammer 😂 he’s too much of a pacifist
