- "Quarter to Three Revisited" is a different take on the original 1961 classic hit, "Quarter to Three," originally recorded by Gary U.S. Bonds, and Gene "Daddy G." Barge. This rendition was recorded in 2016, with legendary hip-hop artists, Daddy O of Stetsasonic fame and Public Enemy frontman Chuck D. The song was recorded as part of an upcoming documentary film.
In addition, this video is the first of the Carcert video series by Chuck D.

The original was a jam session after the Church Street Five had recorded "a night with Daddy G"--Gary had written word to the instrumental. Luckily the tape was left on!

I'm not one for rap, but I can understand how much impact both doo wap/rock & roll had on the black community in the 50/60s and rap/hiphop on the black community from the 80/90s-today. This is cool to see. Really amazing to see the old fellas still have it.

Gary was one of the coolest cats back then! He is 80 now and still performing from what I understand. I was 12 years old when this song came out. I was in Jr high school then, and on Wednesdays at lunchtime there was a dance in the gym. Chubby Checker was also popular then so we would dance the Twist and the Pony. If you could dance it was no problem getting girls to dance with you. The next year JFK was assassinated, and I believe that America took a turn for the worse. Anyway, music became a great part of our lives. Peace.
