I am in the UK and raised using lbs and ounces, and later grams and kilos. I tried using a set of measuring cups. You are so right! Cups give you all sorts of measures! I could not use them. Thank you for using grams as well, so much easier for is foreigners to follow your recipes! Xxx

I've tried them with Xylitol and different flour (don't the name in english) and they turned out absolutely DELICIOUS! I love this channel, so far every recipe was nothing but a huge hit and!! the cookies are even better the next day!!! Sending much much love and THANK YOU!!!

You’re the only person I’ve seen mention this issue with the flour! I literally thought I was going crazy because every time I made cookies, they were so “doughy” as I call it. I never understood why. Now it makes sense because I use measuring cups for the flour lol.

Thank you so much for this. I'm breastfeeding my little one right now and I found out that rolled oats boost milk production, but I'm so burnt out on overnight oats and still have a big container of oats... so I'm gonna make these instead!
Confession: I didn't even know that oatmeal and chocolate chips was a thing. Now that I know, these are probably my favorite kind of cookies. I love chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin separately, but both seem to be missing something... I guess you put the oatmeal with the chocolate and you get the best combo, lol.

John you are so adorable. I love to watch you bake. so much fun. You are the only American I've seen to admit that cups are not the best way to measure. Trust me i have tried to understand this method and each time i try i get different weights, it's crazy, scales are so much easier and accurate. Us Brits really don's get it, and i've literally been called stupid online for questioning the cup method. So thank you for making it obvious that accurate weights turns out better cakes, and for your video explaining how.

just tried it, and wowwww. It tastes amazing. It's chocolaty and I can taste a little bit of the salt (i only put the salt inside the dough). Next time I will try to reduce the amount of the sugar, for me personally it's too sweet (because my choco chips is the milk choco already)

Love this! My mom taught me many years ago to add Old Fashioned oats (whole oats) to chocolate chip cookie dough. It's my favorite way to make and eat chocolate chip cookies! And I add walnuts as well. Yummy!!!
And John, I love your attention to detail and presentation, but personally I don't bother rolling them in my hand (maybe I'm just lazy - lol). I use a cookie scoop, but I just drop them right from the scoop onto the parchment paper. The tops are nicely rounded and they still come out pretty and super delicious. :) But either way, thanks for sharing your recipe with us - I love, love, love your videos!!

For those of you curious about using quick oats, they kinda disappeared into the cookie so you couldn’t see them like you can in the video. They were still tasty tho! I made these at 1am and used my toaster oven to make six of them while I placed the rest in the fridge overnight since I didn’t want to wait not sure if that’s why my cookies didn’t flatten out (they stayed into a mound kind of shape)
    Also!
I added 1/3 less sugar for both brown and white since My family don’t like them too sweet but ended up adding a bit more chocolate chips so every bite had chocolate

These cookies were fabulous. I did unsweetened dried cranberries because we aren’t keen on chocolate chip with oatmeal (and hate dark chocolate anyway). Had to cook them for 12 minutes (350, but convection), but they were perfect chewy wonderfulness. Mine might have been bigger so that might explain it.
