Who Should Ride Soft Surfboards (Soft Tops)?!

Who should ride soft tops?! Should you get a soft top as your first board?! Did soft tops ruin surfing? Are soft tops created equal?
In this video I go over your many burning questions about soft tops. Here's the gist: soft tops are not created equal. Some are better than others, and there are good reasons why you may want to buy one as your first board. If you want to go fiberglass from the start, that's fine too! Board choice should not be an excuse not to learn about surfing's cultural norms and etiquette rules.
If you're going to use a soft top here are three brands I recommend:
Mick Fanning Soft Boards -- especially the Beastie model
Surf Tech Soft Boards
Surf Crime Boards
These are high end and have "shape" to them.
Boards I don't recommend:
Liquid Shredder (don't even go to a surf school who uses these)
Wave Storm
Catch Surf
These boards are very rudimentary and flimsy. They encourage careless and disposable surfing. Yes, pros can rip them. Pros can rip anything. That doesn't mean that everyone can! Pros would surf even better on the brands that I recommend.
