It's for his health no doubt. It's a lubricant. I used to use vegetable oil on my BMX bicycle. There might be a lower cancer risk but possibly a higher risk of chain breaks. Which can take a person's head off ! I don't have my chainsaw certificate but use a hand saw actually.
My question is; is it still going to bounce off my head harmlesslt if I go over the falls? thats the main reason I want a good longboard foamer 😩 so I dont drown accidentally
You can take all the safety measures you want but at the end of the day surfing is still an "extreme sport" (depending on who you talk to)... As far as boards go, our soft tops are one of the safest options out there 🤙🏽
Excellent video!! I've got about 10 boards on hand, and like to keep some softies for guests. I too have folded one of those cheapies, and currently have a Soft-tec...the Sally Fitzgibbon's model which, so far, seams strong....but, was VERY expensive. I'll be ordering a Ho Stevie for my next softie, no doubt. Hopefully you'll get your boards in a few colors with fun designs on the bottom.
There is a difference between a soft top and a foamie. The Wavestorm and Carch are foamies. The Ho Stevie is a soft top. Some people like fomies because they don't have fiberglass that can dent or splinter.
This is great, I've been wanting to see the guts of these very over priced boards. Yep, I still feel that what you get for your $, they are way over priced.
You need to get one of the Clyde Beatty Jr. soft tops to check out. They are built like your Ho Stevie with eps foam and epoxy resin. Super lite and strong. The way to go.
Should have watched this before I bought a Catch Surf, at least it was on sale. There are a few other brands that makes them like you, Softech Epoxy Series, Ocean and Earth Epoxy Softops (like the MR Twin) and Mick Fanning boards. I actually just ordered a MR Twin from Ocean And Earth, gonna be way stiffer han my Catch Surf, I hope ... I also bought a Softech Lil Ripper for my son and that thing feels nice.
@@HoStevie That 5'6" looks sweet, not easy to find and get shipped here in the eastern Mediterranean though, had to go with options at stores that could offer good deals 🤙
Probably but it would add a lot of cost. I want to see if we can use Futures fin boxes instead of FCS... our factory couldn't do it for this first batch of boards, but maybe we will figure it out. Futures fins are stronger at the base.
Yo need to know where that shirt your wearing is from! Like a looser looking crew neck t shirt. Digging it. Also own one of your boards and it’s dope!!
Well, that was interesting! Kinda bummed that Catch Surf is built just like the wavestorms. I would love to purchase one of your foamies! Please build some 9'0s and expand the color ways. : )
Found a 5’6 on OfferUp that had only seen a couple of sessions. Had a blast on it. My Becker SB also has a squash tail so it is the perfect quiver mate for those days my arms don’t want to work as hard! Stoked to spend the Summer on it and I commend you for putting this product out. 🤙
Haha i had to prove that our boards are built better! I’m send one half to someone who wants it for an art project, and holding on to the others in our warehouse, until we have a use for them
Nope! I've only had one of my fiberglass boards ever do that, after I rode it for years. And you wouldn't be able to notice on these boards with the soft top anyways 😎
I just scores a 6'6" Tahe paint maxi performance shortboard for under $150 shipped- built a lot like your boards with the double 6 oz glass. Would love to see you chose other soft tops and cut em in half. This vid eisily proves that your boards are well constructed and will eisily outlast the competition- (except for perhaps the Tahi Maxi's)
The 8'2" just sold out... 5'6" is still in stock! hostevie.com/mens-surfing-wetsuit.html We should have the 8'2" soft tops restocked sometime after Christmas 👍
I'm pretty sure that one is just foam all the way through. Their website says "no fiberglass", and I'm pretty sure they don't have a stringer. They look fun, but my buddy broke a little piece off the tail of his 🤷♂️
Bro really powered a chainsaw with coconut oil
Good and good for you. Nectar of the gods 🥥

He powered it with electric. Lubed it with CO. I know, I'm a bellend!
Odysea ripped me off so job can keep living in front of pipe 😠🤬
I surf wavestorm because they are light. Please put the boards on a scale when you do a comparison.
Hmm interesting point. I'm not sure what the exact differences are but they feel very similar

When will your boards be available again?
I’m also wondering!
Back now (and better than ever) 🔥
Would like to see the inside of one of those old tufflites and one of those NSPs as well lol
Looks like a well made board , but it's not really a soft top if it's glassed.
The good soft tops are 🔥

We'll check 'em out 🤙🏼
but hwy on earth would someone make a surfboard black, cant leave that in the sun on the beach
Haven't had it get too hot on me yet 🤞🏼

if the board is glassed couldnt you run a regular fin box? not the drop through fins?

wave storm wave bandit and catchsurf are all built the same crazy pricing difference ......
I was really suprised to see the catch surf built basically the same as the wavestorm!
Wave Bandit only two stringers
As soon as I snap the wavestorm I’m ordering the 8’2”
Thanks for making this 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
hope it doesn't happen, but you know where to go if it does! 🫡
If you come out with a 5'O or smaller it'll be my next board. Any plans to do that?
Oh man really short! No plans yet for additional sizes, but if we get enough requests we will. I've been hearing more requests in the 6-7 foot range.
@@HoStevie Go for the 5'0. They can't even keep the catch surf stumps or 54 specials on the shelves out here in Maui where I'm at.
I have the 5'6" and that thing is beefy. I agree and think a 5'0" would be rad!
The 54 special and stumps are the best catch surf boards.
This man has saved me hundreds by selling gear that doesnt have the brand name markup
THAT'S WHAT WE DO 🤝
Dang😢, the prototype was still shredable. Would have surfed 🏄♂️ that until it got soggy
Hard core ✊🏼

working on longer lengths now but hard to ship! We may have a day each week where locals can come pick up in person from our warehouse 🤙🏼

You can use Transmission fluid lol but coconut may be a little sticky later lol 😂
hahaha coconut oil in a saw is wild (but if it works it works 🤷🏼♂️) - Justin

Fun board but you already know what we're going to say... 😉
@@HoStevie so what else should I buy as a bloody beginner here in Germany / Europe? :D
Cool Board honestly I’m into cutting these to pieces but I would keep yours solid 😂❤
Hahahah we love to hear that 🥰
how many liters is the 5'6"?
41 liters 🤙🏽
Any concerns about your board starting to spine as it ages?
Nope! I've only had one of my fiberglass boards ever do that, after I rode it for years. And you wouldn't be able to notice on these boards with the soft top anyways 😎
using organic coconut oil for a machine while most people consume oil that was meant to be for machines is crazy
Hahahah this world is backwards 🤣
Oh really I got one of the ho Stevie’s and it broke the second day of the swell but the odysea lasted me years🤨🤨
Oh yeah this was at makena on a swell
First i’ve heard of this… send us a pic help@hostevie.com
I've been saying that catch surf is overpriced for years. They are only hyped up from the Raw Beefs gang.
They say the truth is in the pudding but its also in the foam 😉
Taking on the world! Bring back the mustache 👨🏻🦰
Hahaha I had a good run with the stache! Wifey absolutely hates it.
Maybe someday... for a limited time... 😂
So JOB has been surfing on crap all this time?
I guess so haha, he can afford to replace them every time they snap.
And i dont want to call their boards crap, just not as good as ours 😜
What kind of core do you use
Closed cell EPS (won’t absorb water)
*Let's hear all the stories of soft tops that have snapped in half* 👂
I had a board from SouthBay Board Co get snapped at Huntington earlier this year 🙃 not a fun day
Like 10 foot cali at an Australian point break, rogue set came in and my 50 Kmart board snapped. Not surprised
