This is exactly what I was talking about when I suggested it a few videos ago. Very well done video, and good job recommending where to find a map in English for those unfamiliar with the language.
Thanks for the idea! Glad you like how it turned out. I hope it helps folks find there way around a bit easier. Did you think the speed going from shop was ok? Too fast? Well i appreciate the idea. It took a while to get it right. This was just a test run. Ill try to make a more comprehensive video in the near future. Let me know if it needs anything.👍🏼
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I think you did it just how I imagined it: the map is easy to follow, and the walking footage gives us an idea of where to turn or cross the roads. Again, good job, looking forward for your next videos! Stay Scruffy Looking!
Don't have much knowledge of FDS games. Very cool box art for sure, Thanks for the map tour. Such a great idea. Been waiting for you to start doing that
Im glad you enjoyed the FDS Hunt even though its not your thing. Hope the tour map could help some folks out took me a while to figure out on my editing software but it was worth it i think.
Thank you so much for this video! Just about to go to Japan in less than a weeks time(will be visiting Akiba!). Hopefully some of the good titles you mentioned will still be there!!
I absolutely love the casing, artwork and overall packaging of fds games. Theyre so charming. But man can they get quite pricey. Id love to start collecting for it one of these days. Great guide to shopping for some games!
They are a pretty cool part of nintendo gaming history if you ask me and yes they have gotten a bit expensive but there are still deals to be found here in japan. Thanks for the support kind sir.
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I don't own one yet, I am planning on buying one and restoring it using your videos. I only have the nes for now but selling it to get a famicom since it seems a better design to me.
Map is a cool addition. My hotel is at the station so double win for me. Fds not my thing I prefer carts even if i have to buy UK/USA carts. If I see a nice artwork I might buy one for the collection.
I'm glad you think so. That is a prime location and easily accessible to other parts of Japan👍🏼the yellow disks are really interesting especially if you have never seen them before 😮
Great video Scruffy. If only I had that map, that would have reduced the walking around and missing a few. Or I should have taken up on your offer to guide me around 😊
Thank you Mark G glad you enjoyed this one it was fun to make. Ive been wanting to do this kind of a video for a while now. Glad I was finally able to put it out there. Unfortunately it wasnt out in time for your trip here but next time you come maybe ill have a whole army of these kinds of videos to help you out.
Pleasant walk through the game shops as always! You´re fond of the "action platformer" label, there´s no platforming in Murasame though ;) It´s more of a shooting-action game in a Zelda-like perspective. Similar to Ki Ki Kai Kai, but no scrolling. I have a small collection of 3 FDS games myself. I´d like to have Doki Doki Panic one day, but it´s gotten pretty expensive... Mario´s 3D Hot Rally could be a decent racer, probably worth the asking price.
Thanks for that! Yes im glad you cought that i must like saying action platformer for any old action game. Good to hear from you man its been a while. Dokidoki panic has gotten a bit outta hand hasnt it.
can confirm the MD version of wardner, it was a fun one! was always fond of the arcade version and I was able to pick it up on genesis some years ago. apparently there were plans for a localized NES version but never panned out? I would've been all over that one for sure.
Glad I could show you something for the first time. I was not even aware of the disk until revisiting this footage but it is a really interesting part of FDS history dont ya think?
I really wish that I could afford to travel to Japan. Although, I also don't know if it's at all possible to travel by boat anymore, I won't fly... I'm curious, do either of those two shops ever have All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros., and if ever, is it ever as expensive as the internet says?
I know Japan had many international ports so its definitely possible. As far as All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros. I've come across it once at super potato and it was super expensive. Never seen one in a hardoff but I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap if you did.
@@ScruffyLookinRGB it's approaching godlike status. Did u see they found a USA version sealed about a year back...i still think it should have been a black box game, the irate gamer used to have a picture of it in black box in his background
This takes me back. While I was studying abroad I would poke around these shops quite a bit. A good chunk of my FDS library came from Akihabara.
Great video, man! I didnt know much about the Disk System at all.
The Tax Agency game was very surprising haha! Good idea with the map too.
Thanks man🙏The disk system is a really interesting part of nintendo history. Definitely is a good conversation piece.
Nice to see R2 out and about! I like the way you did this one.
Im glad you enjoyed R2's Guided Tour of Akihabara. Should I do more like this you think?

I often wonder how well those magnetic disks have held up after all these decades
Yes it is a big concern. Which makes emulation absolutely necessary. Its pretty amazing how there are still working disks😲

Traders had Gimmick in box, not sure if it was for original Famicom or other console. Did that price say 246,500 yen??? That's over $1,800 usd!!!!
Yes you spotted it that was for the famicom crazy right!?🤑
Kid Icarus for 3500y I'd scoop that up, getting harder and harder to find....
