I really enjoyed playing this and figured I'd upload myself playing it! Really great music as always - going to sit with Dedicated to the Moonlight a bit more and explore some of the playful corners more. Really fun stuff. Especially in the vocalism! Love that fiddle too.

NGL this was a pleasant surprise seeing this type of content. Part of the story of great music is tying it to raid mechanics, and this is something the general music reactor won't get to experience unless they try the raid. Looking forward to seeing more!
I use macros to set different audio "modes" so like I have one that's just for running around and doing whatever that's like /mastervolume 80 /bgm 75 /soundeffects 50 but then one I can click when I go into a duty that I want to turn up that's /mastervolume 100 /bgm 100 /soundeffects 30. makes it an easy way to adjust on the fly :)

It's so interesting seeing everyone relate the battle theme to cowboys/hoedowns. My first thought was "Irish barfight".

Yeah that's what I thought when I came in here too. Like I walked into a pub and an Irish lass started a bar fight.
My first thought was "German Oktoberfest".
Oh yeah, I heard the opening lick and thought "oh, we riverdancin' now boys"
Menphina turned me into a Magical Girl, it's giving me MAJOR Sailor Moon vibes!

I love all the songs. A little sad we didn’t get really get a “Gridania anthem” like in the Balance, but this song works too. And yes, this world’s moons are often called Mephina’s hounds, so we got a moon doggo for her fight! The fiddle was more Irish reel than hoedown for me, but then again I guess it could be argued that fiddle heavy music tends to use similar rhythms.
To me, the fiddle and accordion felt very appropriate for Gridania as a more rural land
@@Deuzen_FIN True. I guess I just expected for an “anthem” for the finale, but then again Nophica was first this time.
That is my greatest disappointment with Euphrosyne, not having Nophica and Gridania be the final theme, but it was a great raid nonetheless. I'll always feel like it was a missed opportunity though. I guess Ul'dah gets special treatment this time around. Limsa probably not gonna get anything either at this rate since the last boss is definitely not Llymlaen.
I think the sad part is Gridania is just so much more undercooked compared to Ul'dah's lore and richness. There's not much to write about Gridania other than the elemental stuff and uhh racism lol
Menphina is the moon. Dalamud was her hound.

I'm so so curious about Oschon. Even though it's purely for flavour I remember starting the game so many years ago and thinking and reading about each one and decided I wanted to be a Bard. I can't wait to see what happens with him.
Thats why they havent released third alliance raid yet they probly working on finding another banger
Someone in alliance chat said "Midwest (Extreme)" when we started the Nophica fight, and honestly, I see absolutely nothing wrong with that statement :D
Also, MASSIVE 90s shoujo anime vibes off of Menphina's theme (obvious Sailor Moon commentary goes here!), and I love every second of it. It's both somehow new but also nostalgic, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the EP
That "oh" when the fiddle kicked in was the same initial reaction I had before I started bobbing my head to the beat 😂
This one was so much more hectic mechanically compared to Aglaia

I'm glad it was. I felt Aglaia was too easy and this felt just right for an alliance raid in terms of difficulty.
I feel it's a common thread for the second raids in a series to be extra difficult. At least i felt that way with the Stormblood and Shadowbringer raids. Honestly though the music helped with all my deaths XD

But euphrosyne is quickly coming up on it after a few runs to try and get that gear piece today
I just did my first run and holy cats that was crazy. Halone is a relentless monster, as is becoming of the Fury.
This was my first ever 'patch day raid' (was out of the country when Aglaia dropped), so I found it pretty challenging. Every other word out of my mouth was a shriek or a GET AWAY FROM ME or WAIT WHERE DO I GOOO? I went in as RDM and died like, four times in total so not so bad for me lol
I had high expectation of the raid theme after Aglia but they still manage to go beyond. It's such a feast to the ears. 🤩
I'm a sucker for this style of celtic music with the fiddles, so I couldn't be happier with this raid. Plus Gridania and Ishgard are definitely my home corners.
Plus the callbacks to 2.0 themes are done flawlessly again, possibly even better than Aglaia. A lot of it is from "Dawn of a New Era", from the ARR trailer and the 2.0 credits.

This whole raid giving me 90s magical girl anime feels which is awesome 😍. With surprise visit from Yasunori Mitsuda 😂 with his Celtic instruments

The main battle music in this raid, specifically the crazy violin solos, remind me a lot of Connor's chase music in Detroit Become Human. I listened to both back to back and I think they'd sound really cool together but I've never really edited something like that

The dungeon theme was really tranquil and reminded me of the NieR games which makes all the more sense with Automata's strong religious themes.
Going from this tranquility to fast paced fiddle revelry gave me the best kind of whiplash!
They went hard on the instruments in this one. Both Aglaia and this have been top tier in term of music

Thaleia sounds more Mediterranean. Like more modern Greek, Italian and Spanish sounding. Like you're riding a gondola then exploring a vast, open sea.

I've always found interesting how they combine different mythos in FF. All the names are straight up greek, the designs as well but you have some slight celtic undertones in there. Good stuff.

i love that the music mixes in The Dawn of a New Era (the theme that you think sounds like the FF theme) as it first plays at the end of 2.0 when the era officially goes from the Seventh Umbral to Seventh Astral (beginning a new age of hope basically). it really hearkens back to the beginning of your journey and when you first become a real hero and not just a really good adventurer.

I just finished my run of this raid so I can finally watch the reaction from all the people I follow. It's so damn great, the raids last patch brought us back to evanescence and this just hitting me with another huge wave of 90's-2k nostalgia, definitely getting sailor moon vibes from the final boss.
Love the new FF music that you cover and love the reaction you does to follow the flow of the music to keep up for your live to live not to get kill on spot so keep up marco for fan of FF music i don't mind a spoiler of the game 🤣🤣

I greatly suggest you to listen to the song "Weight of the World", FF14 version. You can find a good version on youtube with the title "FFXIV OST - Weight of the World (Prelude Version)" (it's a 11 minutes video, but it repeat during the video, you just need one part). The version they created for FF14 (the original is from Nier Automata) is amazing, and if it's timed with the fight, it gives amazing feels °w°

Some tidbits which may have been revealed in the following cutscenes or your own research/community. (Spoilers obviously)
Menphina's hound from the last fight is Dalamud, the moon which was involved in the 7th calamity, but was also believed to be the "Loyal Hound of Menphina"
Althyk is the God of Time and Space, while his sister Nymeia is the Goddess of Fate. Thus the 2nd boss had Nymeia dealing out cards, and Althyk manipulating mechanic timers and orders, as well as pushbacks!
Im about to deep dive it here in the next day or two now that I clipped just the music :)

So the theme that keeps playing with the upbeat tune is called "A New Found Adventure" and was the theme of ARR when they relaunched the game, which is neat because the whole start of the story for this raid tier is "a new adventure"

As I expected of novice chat, it's mostly being used as a server-wide chat service; which it isn't intended for.
I didn't see you react on the third alliance raid though going down the list of videos.
As a note, if the size of summoner pets bothers you, the size of em are client side. So you can put into the bar the command "/petsize all small" and they'll all be shrunk down. Some like Titan are still somewhat chonky, but if you find swiveling your camera when they keep blocking the screen annoying it's there!

Yes, she has a wolf.
The pupper is the personification of Dalamud, Bahamut's Prison, because the Ancient Races of Eorzea thought the Prison was a Second, smaller, Moon. Thus, since Menphina was represented as the First and bigger moon, people thought of the second as a hound that loyally followed the Goddess of The Moon and Love.
Their faith is what shaped Dalamud, Menphina's dearest companion and pet wolf, into existence.
It is also sad, because it may take eons to happen, but the pupper will one day disappear because now the people of Eorzea know that Dalamud was a construct and will not worship him as part of Menphina's domain
I'd still love to see a full analysis of 'Dedicated to moonlight' it's genuinely become one of my favorite ffxiv tracks
