I made my website about 18 month ago and since then Google is switching from universal to GA4 so you will have to relink your site if you had your site up before the switch. This tutorial broke it down perfectly for me since I'm on wordpress. Plug in responded within a minute for me!

Awesome, I’m glad! As far as I know I don’t think WordPress has a native way to input just the measurement ID. So you’ll likely have to use a Google Analytics/Google plugin. Maybe check Monster Insights? They might have something. Or you can paste the header code into the header of your theme. Or use a plugin to put it there.

Good question. Most website platforms have a place you can pop the code into the header and then it will inject on every page. If you don’t have that option, you’ll need to add it to the header of every page manually.

Mariah please help - the new GA4 dashboard is so confusing. Do I need to create custom reports/events to see what the Universal was showing? Mainly interested in total pageviews + sessions, where the traffic comes from, the network referrals (for example, I used to be able to see which exact pin would send traffic to a post) etc.
Giiiiirl to be honest, I still am not clear on GA4 and how it all works. I just kinda set it up to start collecting data and have been using UA thus far for looking at things, which obv isn’t helpful now lol I’m not sure if it requires specific reports to get that info. I’m even about to start testing GA alternatives too to see if they’re easier to navigate bc this new version is a pain. And all the videos feel even too technical for me to follow lol my eyes glaze over. I will keep you posted if I figure the dashboard a bit more and keep me in the loop if you find the answer too!

Great tutorail, I have 50 websites, for those websites i want to google analytics and i have two options 1. create 50 accounts is good in one analytics account is good or 2. create one account and then create 50 properties in that account is good.
Yep, depending on how you want to manage them, you can create a separate GA account for each and they each have their own property. Or one account and 50 properties. If you’re gonna potentially expand where each website would need more than one property, I’d consider different accounts. But, up to you!

You can host numerous property’s under one account but I usually give each client their own account so they can have full admin access. If the GA4 is already set up, you’ll want to ask for access to it. If it’s not, you want to wait til the site is launched and then connect it. Hopefully that helps!
I set google analytics up last year and couldn't get it to work so I basically gave up. Messed around with it again today and was finally able to properly set it up, it's now working. Will I see all the data prior to today, or does the data start collecting as of today? This is so confusing. Thank you for your tutorial - Denise

I have a video on my channel that shows you how to add a user to a Google analytics account. It’s the exact video I send to my clients to have them give me access. Hopefully that helps!
You can name the account whatever you’d like. I usually name it the business name. But you can have numerous properties under one account. So if you have three websites, you can have your account named “Mariah” and then your properties named “Domain Name 1” “Domain Name 2” “Domain Name 3” (and obv name your account name your name, unless you want to name it after me 😂😂😂😂)

i have been using the old interfaceto to track simple things in relation to my design portfolio website, where people are coming from and what they are clicking to. i used the user explorer tab a lot in the older interface but cannot find it since updating to GA4 :(
The new GA4 dashboard is overwhelming and not as in-depth yet, from what I know so far. I’m still learning how to use it myself but honestly, it’s annoying lolol you’re not alone.
FYI, there is an HTML element called head and another called header. You want the GA code in the head tag, not the header. But some of those CMS screens may be doing that although it shows "Header"
Yes! You’re totally right. Most of my clients/students don’t dig around in the HTML themselves so they don’t necessarily have to pay attention to the difference but if you are, there’s a huge difference lol thanks for pointing that out ☺️
I have linked everything, and I can see the right ID attached, but I still see ''No data received from your website yet''. Could it be because I didn't fill in ''Confirm your payment settings'' information? I do not want to provide my bank details, as I am not going to pay for adds, I just need a Google Analytics account attached to my TH-cam channel
@@ElevateYourLiving I don't think you can connect Google Analytics to a TH-cam channel. I think TH-cam wants you to use their analytics built into the platform. You can track traffic coming to your website from TH-cam though. But that's as much as I think you can do.
Should this conversion be made for a blog as well as my website? I made the change that was asked but I also have a blog too. This process is confusing. SMH
If your blog is part of your domain name and it all lives on one site, you only need to do this once to track the data on the domain name. If your blog is connected to a different URL or platform, you’ll have to do this for that too. The old version Google Analytics is going to stop tracking data indefinitely in July 2023. And yes, I agree lol it far more complex and annoying than the old version. I feel like they made it way too complicated, especially for website owners that don’t have or aren’t gonna have an app.

Sometimes it takes a bit for data to start showing up on Google Analytics. But after a day or so it’s still showing on your website but not in the GA 4 dashboard then it might not be connected right. Make sure the tracking code is in the header of the whole website and not just one page! That’s an issue that sometimes happens.
Not sure exactly what you mean by this but it could be a few things, depending how your website is coded. The footer could be listed as a “content type” or something similar and your website could be having those types of content being crawled by Google. Or Google could be using the text in your footer as your websites meta description for a page (or a few) bc you don’t have your meta description customized. That’s just two reasons, could def be more!
I have an account with my clients accounts within it. If I go to create an account it just takes me to my "all accounts" overview basically where I can select any of the accounts and their properties. How do I create a brand new account for a new clients website?
I have already made google analytics 4, but after making google analytics 4 I bought new custom domain. How to add custom domain in google analytics 4 please
You can make a new Google Analytics 4 account for that property or you can change the info in Admin >> Property Settings & the URL in the data stream settings
Nice video...honestly I thought the video was how to DISPLAY GA data on a website. For clients to get a quick report on the results of their efforts and how its translated through website activity. I think this would be useful but because I havent seen it anywhere on your page maybe you dont think its useful at all.
You can usually reach out to a support desk if you’re using a website platform that has one, or a web designer/developer. You can also explore Upwork or Fiverr too! Hopefully that helps!

Hmmm I’m not sure. I’ve never had to add my payment settings in order to setup Google analytics.

@@ElevateYourLiving I don't think you can connect Google Analytics to a TH-cam channel. I think TH-cam wants you to use their analytics built into the platform. You can track traffic coming to your website from TH-cam though. But that's as much as I think you can do.

If you setup the wrong one how do you go and change it?
It depends where you set it up wrong. You can create a new property and delete the property you messed up on.
Should this conversion be made for a blog as well as my website? I made the change that was asked but I also have a blog too. This process is confusing. SMH
If your blog is part of your domain name and it all lives on one site, you only need to do this once to track the data on the domain name. If your blog is connected to a different URL or platform, you’ll have to do this for that too. The old version Google Analytics is going to stop tracking data indefinitely in July 2023. And yes, I agree lol it far more complex and annoying than the old version. I feel like they made it way too complicated, especially for website owners that don’t have or aren’t gonna have an app.

Sometimes it takes a bit for data to start showing up on Google Analytics. But after a day or so it’s still showing on your website but not in the GA 4 dashboard then it might not be connected right. Make sure the tracking code is in the header of the whole website and not just one page! That’s an issue that sometimes happens.
Why is Google showing my footer in search engine results pages? What can I do about it?
Not sure exactly what you mean by this but it could be a few things, depending how your website is coded. The footer could be listed as a “content type” or something similar and your website could be having those types of content being crawled by Google. Or Google could be using the text in your footer as your websites meta description for a page (or a few) bc you don’t have your meta description customized. That’s just two reasons, could def be more!

I have an account with my clients accounts within it. If I go to create an account it just takes me to my "all accounts" overview basically where I can select any of the accounts and their properties. How do I create a brand new account for a new clients website?
You should be able to add an account once you get to the settings, or the option is usually at the bottom of the drop down of accounts.

You can make a new Google Analytics 4 account for that property or you can change the info in Admin >> Property Settings & the URL in the data stream settings

Nice video...honestly I thought the video was how to DISPLAY GA data on a website. For clients to get a quick report on the results of their efforts and how its translated through website activity. I think this would be useful but because I havent seen it anywhere on your page maybe you dont think its useful at all.
Depending on what website platform you’re using, this might be possible. For instance using the Monster Insights plugin is good for Wordpress.

You can usually reach out to a support desk if you’re using a website platform that has one, or a web designer/developer. You can also explore Upwork or Fiverr too! Hopefully that helps!
