    If every fighter was this noble, gracious, fair, courageous, and all-around virtuous, MMA would be the sport of kings, much more well respected. GSP is the standard for how an ideal fighter and martial artist should be.

      @elzico9201 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Todd Haley Well I disagree with you, it doesn’t matter if he wasn’t on roids for every fight he still popped look at him now his last three fights man they’ve all been split decisions were he’s arguably lost. He’s had split decisions in the past like the Alexander fight too and a few others. Yeah GSP lost but that was when he was still young and didn’t know much once he started getting his composure and his game together you do remember he had no wrestling experience whatsoever then somehow became one of the best wrestlers ever. After he got his skills polished he never lost a fight again and he even came back 4 years after retirement and beat Michael Bisping in a higher weight class and became the champion. If that doesn’t spell out GOAT I don’t know what does. GSP never had to cheat and how do you know that if Jones never popped how do you know he woulda still won? He was losing the second DC fight till he caught him with the kick, then guess what? He popped...

    A few years ago I honestly had Anderson, Jones and GSP tied at #1 GOAT, couldn't really choose one or another. For me it was like Anderson is the most fantastic one, GSP is the most technical and fundamentally sound and Jones is the most talented ever.
    Even though Anderson's competition level was nowhere near the one GSP and Jones faced, he did movie shit inside the cage that you just wouldn't believe. Then he started popping for steroids a few years ago and we'll just never know what happened during his reign, it's a shame. Jon Jones for me is the most talented of the three and combining his skills with the competition level, he could've gone down as the GOAT, but I don't even need to begin to explain my point on choosing Georges over him as well nowadays.
    So I have GSP as the greatest of all time without a doubt anymore...

    GSP is a straight up honest and humble man, and he turned good genetics, hard work, and a little OCD into a legacy that will be hard to beat.

      John I have a few friends that did university wrestling and it was amazing how much weight they could lose, as well as recover in the day after weighing in.
      GSP said he naturally walks around at 180-185, and is a natural 175 competitor. Making 155 seems doable based on his frame. They essentially make that weight for about 15-20 minutes, then begin rehydration and he would probably be about 165-170 after that.
      Only thing that would be holding him back is his age.

      He was facing guys that were the top guys five to six years before he was a name and was WAY bigger than all of them.
      He looked impressive but he was unnatural for the weight class, 10’ reach advantage and half a foot taller than every opponent.
      We’ll see if he is really a super talent when he goes to heavyweight. I’m thinking once he fights guys his size with the extra power he’ll look good but nowhere near as excellent as fighting little guys.

    Already loved GSP for his fighting but more so his lack of pointless trash talk and a really composed demeanor. But hearing him just have a conversation made me appreciate him even more. To be essentially one of the most leather humans on the planet with your bare hands, Idk what I expected him talking about the break would sound like but, he’s just so fucking down to earth he’s just a cool righteous dude trying to do the right things. I could not understand how anyone other than bisping could dislike him.

    Absolutely great podcast. Wow, GSP you are a phenomenal talent and a super smart guy. I hope you get the next fight you strive for and pick him apart but at the same time he gives you the challenge of a lifetime. I haven't fully followed the UFC consistently but I pay attention to what mostly goes on so I wish you the best. Joe man you are great. I've been at a bit of a crossroads in my life and I'm trying to learn, listen and gain prospective of all around me.... been listening to a lot of things. You bring an undeniable knowledge and straight forward perspective of all you see. It's absolutely honorable. Thanks guys!

    You know what.. as a French Canadien who has a similar accent.. I appreciate that not only, doesn't Rogan laugh at his accent! But he also makes the effort to understand him. And does.. it's not that hard to do it respectfully. And Rogan does it... I know it might seem petty, but when we Québécois get in the Anglophone world, we often get ridiculed...

    Not to rain on GSP parade, but look at Brock. Even if they know you're lit up with steroids, they'll still let you fight sometimes. Sport still has some drug issues.

    • @Turk_2023
      @Turk_2023 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Sport has promoting issues so stars can fuck up..... They fail to create new stars and are relying on a few guys.... Like when Michael Jordan was kicked out of the NBA in 93 for gambling, they tried hard to make Barkley and Shaq the new stars , but ultimately they had to let MJ come back.... They learned their lesson and now people get over hyped, but the average person knows NBA players on multiple teams. I mean Woodley/DC, Dillishaw/Cody/DJ should all be pushed hard, Stipe has a beer commercial but nothing else.........Look at DJ`s division, there is not even a contender for him...UFC needs to hire a new marketing team.....Ultimately these champs need to fight more and get the gears rolling, and if a fighter can not defend his/her belt every 90-120 days it needs stripped to keep the ball rolling.

    • @jackyt3404
      @jackyt3404 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Turk_2023
      Every 90 to 120 is ridiculous for defences.. Camps take 6 weeks.
      So what the champ.is just perpetually having to be 'fight ready'!? that means guys like GSP cant develop, learn, grow n make legacies.. which is what we need badly!
      GSP fought twice a year as a champ, no one complained then..

    GSP looked fn fantastic in his return.
    First 10 minutes he looked like a 4year laid off fighter.Specifically in the end of the 2nd.In the third round when he fought through a little adversity and then out of nowhere he finally showed that killer instinct he had not shown in 7 years.Then walked off with the strap!!

    I wonder if part of the reason for GSP never facing Anderson is because he suspected that Spider was on the juice. People have always suggested GSP was afraid, but he was never a dude to duck a fight. He took on and beat everyone in his weight class without batting an eye.

      Blair Jacobs Thats deep. It must be the reason. Plus, remember that GSP said he retired because he knew Hendricks was on PED’s and UFC let him fight, causing a lot of trouble to GSP at the end of the day.
