Ok, IG main here, I found some good stuff after practicing with it: 1. You can charge the kinsect and send him like a drill getting 2/3 sometimes 3/3 extracts 2. The kinsect assist during Focus Mode Light attacks have waaaaaay longer range than you think, you actual THROW them in an arc, you can hit the backs of monsters with it pretty consistently 3. The new charged ground move and diving wyvern move can be charged DURING all other actions, you do not need to be in focus mode either, once I learned this using diving wyvern was way easier 4. If you save Wounds you can use the focus attack to regain all 3 extracts MID AIR if you aim properly Honestly, we just need an option to either map button layouts/change button hold time for charging or just let me choose which move gets to be charged or tapped, that and we need the later kinsects with higher speed, Base Kinsects are notoriously miserable to use.
@@GonterTheGolden-uk7zswell the whole point was to get rid of it so players would stop doing it as it was not the way the weapon was meant to be played and was NEVER the best way to do damage with the glaive so they fleshed out it’s grounded combat and made it WAY easier to get extracts now so the insect glaive is really strong nobody knows how to use it cause they are to bent on “it can’t helicopter anymore it’s bad now” take which is a bad take.
With gunlance, my main squeeze, you left out one of the most important changes. SHELLING DOESN'T BURN SHARPNESS ANYMORE. That's beyond huge for all the gunlance mains out there
I used to main gl since it first came out and then in world it felt boring so I switched to SA and CB but after the beta ooooh boi we so back. I got my broomstick back. Just give me the popcorn GL and I'm straight
Been playing a lot with IG during the beta. It feels very clunky if you're trying to play it like you did in world or rise. Utilizing the new tools it has, even with the bad kinsect, you can get the buffs back very fast and easy, arguably faster than world and rise especially when we get the better kinsets. The new IG feels like it pushes me to play a mix of arial and grounded which I appreciate. Full arial got a bit too one note for me after a while in world and rise and full grounded wasn't what drew me to the weapon in the first place. So the mix and new tools have been very fun and fluid for me once I got used to it and learned how to use it. And I feel like there's more to learn with the weapon. Great vid btw, I can understand why people have been having issues with it.
The freaking offset strike on gs is borderline free everytime you use it. Changes up the weapon in the beat way possible without changing its identity like strongarm did. Been having a blast with it.
@@juicedup4real Yes all of the slinger interactions have been removed the slinger can only shoot pods/bombs now and grab stuff from a distance (no clutch claw either).
@@brefy its no worse then clutch claw wall bang every 30 seconds or slinger burst into tcs it does require some positioning and skill wouldn't say cheap.
Really upset with the insect glaive, it feels so much more clunky and just wrong compared to World, as it was my main and unfortunately will not be here in Wilds.
I only played around with it a little in Wilds, but it feels bad how little air time you get compared to World. Like the ground game seems pretty good, but the point of the weapon was the airplay imo, so it seems like a strange decision to make that so much worse.
Same with GS. Completely destroyed the design philosophy behind the weapon. No longer focused around landing a single massive strike with huge motion value. TCS does 10 damage more than a strong charge. It is not strictly an offset counter weapon. Horrible change
IG aerial nerf is heart wrenching. Flying was why I picked it up in the first place. Really don't even want to play the game now in all honestly. I was excited to get home and play the beta until I saw this. Truly disappointing.
you can do what you want but i really think youre missing out of you only ever use one weapon in monster hunter. they all have so much depth and extend the life of the game so much.
Is understandable but IG before world was a weapon that it was suppose to have an aerial attack just to mount the monsters, the true glaive was ground style. Anyways I hope u give it another try and get used to it probably in the expansion they will add aerial
Someone out there wished for cool new moves for the insect glaive and a finger on the monkey's paw curled. Just played the beta for a few hours and I am beyond disappointed that I won't be maining that weapon anymore.
Yeah I'm putting it on the shelf until dedicated IG mains can tell me exactly how I'm supposed to use this weapon. I'll go back to Rise if I want peak IG. I'll probably main the Switch Axe for this one. Or hey, maybe this will finally be the game that I learn Charge Blade.
It requires alot of weaving between holding L2, holding Circle and just normal triangle and circle attacks. It's alot more complex and don't doubt you for shelving it. It's become a high skill required weapon.
@@erioooo not as broken as gunlance. With the auto blocking now you’re basically unkillable. Combos no longer get interrupted and you just accidentally block everything. The new double full shell into double wyvern stake is both faster than LS strongest combo and does nearly 4x its damage. It’s absolutely busted and is gonna get nerfed
Been playing the beta for a couple hours, and I can't stress enough how *HUGE* it is to be able to spin around while charging. You don't need to learn the monster anymore (or wait for the monster to fall down), you can be as greedy as you want and once you do learn it, you also have a dumb "f*ck you" attack able to parry almost whatever. Have to try HH, CB and the Bowguns yet but damn the game feels great to play. Literally Worlds 2 electric boogaloo and I couldn't be happier.
The machine gun mode on the HBG is super fun haha id recommend trying it, but the rest of it is kinda meh right now. I could see min maxxing it with the right armor and stuff though being amazingly fun
As an IG main since Generations, this rendition feels off. First off, why are our extended attacks tied to Triple Up now, instead of just the red buff? Sure, the argument could be made that it's easier to keep Triple up active. Then why even give us the ability to shoot the Kinsect if we can just get all 3 buffs in one attack? All they had to do was take the IG from Rise, and add a Focus attack. Also, why is the weapon so stiff, now? The attacks don't seem to come out in a fluid motion. It's very disappointing. Good thing I have 13 other options to choose from, now.
Weapon felt more fluid than in world and rise combined? It's a new gameplay loop that require more than just staying in the air and stacking damage, its a lot more in depth than before. And the combos feel great and fluid, maybe you're just too used to trying to perform the old combos because I had more fun with the weapon then ever in the beta
Honestly as a IG main from world I do respect the tier you put IG in as when I have been using it seriously does feel foreign for the player to be on the ground more
Hope so. It does good damage, but the feel of the weapon and some decisions they made just don't make sense. It's much slower and clunkier, polar opposite to the fluidity and movement it has in all previous generations.
As a IG main since it released back in 4, I can say that your opinion on the weapon in this game is completely justified. Not solely to the fact that you can't stay in the air, but mainly due to the fact that your combos feel slower and very sluggish and now you aren't able to position yourself as easily because your air time has been cut down. I've played with this weapon for 7-8 hours on the beta and I gotta say the combination of the weapon change with the new 'wound'-system has made this weapon a complete snore as all you are doing is spending all your extract just to RSS a wound. Hopefully they fix this.
Any weapon is S tier. For example switch axe can utterly delete a monsters hp. It's also not S rated because the weapons difficulty in positioning and gauge management can very easily lower performance provided you don't know how to use it. Sure longsword has a billion counters. Yet if you get a God level swaxe player and a god level longsword player in a hunt. Their performance is about the same. The swaxe user just gets more creative with avoiding damage by positioning.
@@muhc2931 search for the best speedruns on every weapon, you will find that SA performance is terrible compared to other weapons. Almost all weapons are doing Rey Dau around 5 min but SA is taking above 10 min even being played by the bests mains of the weapon. It's my favourite weapon but it needs serious buffs
Nah I agree. As a IG main since 4U this is horrible. The move set gutted and feels super clunky. It did not need a charge attack when it’s meant to be a mobile weapon. To the overall placement of the controls. This weapon feels absolutely terrible. Instead of adding to the IG like idk the long sword always seems to get they straight cucked it. I honestly feel like I’m going to get carpal tunnel, trying to play claw on controller.
I'm a huge fan of the changes. The charged attack can be charged during other moves so it just requiers planning ahead, collecting buffs is easier than ever and we can now spend them on huge attacks, then collect them back easily! IG finally has a proper "loop" of collecting and spending instead of feeling like the only purpose of collecting buffs is slowing us down.
@@Lulink013 Until you’re with allies. Now you have to fight them for wounds to get your buffs, because your new best option for ‘optimal dps’ is the rising spiral. An attack longsword just gets tacked onto the end of helmbreaker (no seriously, look at it), without the ‘fall to the ground’ part.
As an Insect glaive main since 4u I disagree. The charge attack does great for punishing monster. Extracts are fair easier to get and maintain, aside from the crappy kinsect you get in the beta. And the mobility still feels great for keeping pressure on the monster in ways other weapons can't. Sure it's a bit more complex, but weapons change every game and it's just one of those you just gotta relearn it. Once we have the ability to have access to more skills it'll be just that much better.
@ idk man I’ve put thousands of hours (embarrassing I know) into monsters and been a IG main the entire time I do not think the changes are good personally. I know most things are preferences, but it killed my excitement for the glaive.
But honestly I feel like some of the changes are limiting. It is a lot more situational to go into savage axe, and the lack of SAED being instantly accessible is also a loss. The new combos bump it up and phials being buffed is nice, so the buffs outweigh the “nerfs”.
usually id agree, but one thing i noticed is monsters also seem to be more fluid and less committed too, so maybe as we rank up we dont leave them in the dirt they can actually keep up?
insect glaive was my most used in all the games i played since it was introduced, i used it on 4 monsters then stopped bringing it in ths beta. it feels like every melee weapon got better at repositioning or going aerial but the weapon based around repositioning and going aerial literally had tht taken away from it. they wanted people to stop doing the air dance so they gave it the worst speed vs damage ground combos without extracts (slow kinsect makes extracts a slog) and gutted aerial combos. i was hoping it gets treated like range were the early vs late game weapons are like night and day
@@Carisma1005 hopefully! I can't remember any demo/early game scenario where ranged felt awesome or portrayed as strong. Though the reasons may differ: (needing skills vs needing to LVL up bugpal) hopefully IG feels better than the demo may suggest.
Nah, collecting buffs is EASIER than before: - you can charge the "collect" command to pierce and get the 3 at once - you can do focus mode combos to have the insect collect WHILE YOU ATTACK - you can get all of them INSTANTLY as a bonus when hitting weak points But hey, why would they trivialize it so much? Wouldn't that make it feel meaningless? Nope, because you can now spend the triple buff on one very strong rising tornado move! Instead of sitting on triple buff hoping we don't run out at the wrong time we get to decide when it's time to collect or spend.
Biggest thing about the IG is you NEED to be doing light and heavy attacks while holding Focus Mode. You get the buffs a lot easier, get some extra damage from the kinsect, and if you can figure out claw grip there is a upward arial attack that does a lot of damage but consumes all 3 buffs.
I hopped on the PC one tonight. I solod zapdos with most weapon types and coming from a Gunlance main in World, holy shit is the new Gunlance amazing. Hammer, i wish the affinity slide was a little better angle and velocity wise but can adjust. Longsword and anime blades are just wildly great. Sns is pure goblin slayer and im here for it.
Been a Gunlance main since MH2 and man Shelling not burning through your sharpness anymore is a game-changer. Loved the new combos in Wilds. Will probably see more folks trying out Gunlance his time around. Gunlance Bros we are back!
As an IG main in world, I totally agree with you. I'm sad about the changes. I want my Aerial combat back 😭😭😭 PS: I'm not saying it's not good or anything. It's just that I don't like it anymore. If you still like it, good for you
I've mained every weapon at one point or another, I'm planning SNS and HBG for wilds and the main story and dabble with LS, bow, DBs,Lance, lbg in postgame. If I don't narrow my choices for a weapon early, I spend waaaay too much time through early/mid game grinding materials 😅
I thought I was crazy about the IG feeling actually terrible to play relative to the last two entries. It feels SO bad now. Which is a shame, I went into this game with it being my most anticipated weapon. As a bonk main, bonk do good bonking. Musical bonk is also very good bonk. Dual blades though we're a glow up I was not ready for. So much freaking fun.
Being an Elemental Charge Blade user for all of World, Icebourne, Rise and Sunbreak, it breaks my heart that they changed the way I can go into SAED in Wilds. I used to be able to do 2 SAED’s in 5 seconds if I wanted to 😢
I feel your pain. The ZSD for switch axe has been changed to the long press of 🔺️ + O when the sword is charged. (I'll get smacked by the monster it activates in 3 seconds .)😢
It didn't feel too bad for me, instead of going right into it it's like 1 or 2 more inputs that are attacks of their own, plus iirc you can still go into saed if you counter of perfect block, do we do still have a way to go right into it just not on demand
For glaive, i set focus mode as a toggle because the kinsect follows your attacks in focus mode similar to assist in risebreak, getting buffs is easier later during the fight cos focus strike grabs all 3 and can be performed during a vault to hit backs and wings and stuff
Oh lord I didn't even realize focus mode could be toggled. Gotta try IG again with that option selected. Wonder why it isn't set as a toggle by default tbh
I find it pretty interesting that you put the bowguns so low considering they felt so much better to use in the Beta than they ever felt to me in World. It was actually crazy how much fun i hade with them.
toot main here and I hard agree I’ve been messing around with inputs and so far I only see 2 performance beats movements and the 1 encore always ending the same regardless of input it still feels great to me but if they give us some of those options again it’d be perfectttt
Hey man I’ve started producing and editing videos on monster hunter because I like the idea of being a creator for others. However, I absolutely hate my voice and can’t seem to get decent voiceovers. If you don’t mind, i’d like to know how many takes you need to get your desired voiceover and any techniques that would help.
I agree 90%. Idk how they made insect glaive so bad but it's true ig is much worse. I kinda disagree with the Great sword especially when you can use focus mode to turn 180 degrees and land TTS with much higher accuracy .
As a bow main i want to say some things about it that are hugw changes that really make the weapon feel better than previous iterations. 1. Discerning dodge at its rewards of a free bar+giga stamina back means no more heavy reliance on dash juice+constitution. It'll definitely still need stam armor skills but its not nearly as necessary as before. 2. Access to free coatings means infinite utility in sleep and para coatings also remembering seeing exhaust coatings somewhere but idk for sure. 3. Wounds and focus system particularly rewards bows which can more easily target specific hit zones (along with the bow guns) for generically easier time DPSing monsters which is an overall larger buff to ranged weapons especially with tracer rounds and infinite coatings on bow.
@zaptaz7437 imo homing arrow is pretty worthless for dps but like personally i was always in the monster's face with close coatings and brought that with me to the beta
@@spheality Worthless for dps? Im not sure what do you mean by that. I mean homing arrow for the weakness point. And the follow up dragon piercer after that. It's simply OP. It's easier than ever to play Bow.
@@zaptaz7437 i agree it is easier even more fun for some people. I just mean between activating homing then also charging dragon piercer or otherwise the damage of both those isnt worth just shooting more charged arrow shots. Assuming the shots are accurate and landing on weak spots or wounds of course. Idk how elemental damage will be in wilds but working under the assumption that it'll be what bow likes most like it was in rise and world
@@spheality Ah I see. Afaik you don't need to fully activate the homing arrow to trigger dragon piercer so it's not that long of a charge time. but I never actually compared the dmg to normal charged shot. I figured it's just much more easier this way bcs you can't miss.
I'm a ranged weapon main. Tried the new Gunlance. For a second I could see myself spending all my hunting time on Wilds just with that. It's that good. You can just go out there with very little to no preparation and feel like you can just solo all monsters no problem. Also, The DRILL! you didn't show that on the vid. It's so satisfying drilling those weakness point. But I gotta say, them bowguns are super fun too now that you can shoot while riding your mounts. This is a big thing especially for HBG mains. You putting both bowguns on B-tier and Bow on A-tier is kinda understandable tho I personally would easily put Bow on S tier. Many people still don't understand how much more powerful that thing is. Expect for more Bow solo speedruns. As for bowguns, I don't really care bcs it's my weapon of choice and it's always top tier for me since MH1. The new monster's weakness point mechanic makes ranged weapons shine even more. Especially Homing arrow dragon piercer combo and shooting while riding making life so much easier it's almost feel unfair. Also the fact that you can bring 2 weapons is just a big win for any ranged weapon mains. Now I can go with 2 guns for more ammo. Or Bow + Guns for extra flexibility. Or bring along melee for those "I wish I'm on melee weapon instead" moment. Or the "I run out of ammo but restocking is annoying" moment. 100% would rock the gunlance for a bit on the release. Insect Glaive looks interesting too now that it didn't turn you into a helicopter.
Insect glaive main here. Your ranking is fair. I don't know what they were thinking with those changes. It's not even the lack of the helicopter attacks. The whole weapon just controls slower than it should.
Kinda but aside from the mosquito playstyle, IG is better than it was in world and rise lol.. Probably the strongest IG rendition since 4U, you just need to readjust to a more grounded playstyle, the helicopter meme wasn't even good to begin with. It's the first time you aren't completely doomed if the kinsect is slow too since there are a million ways of getting extracts and they are all fast. If all you ever did with IG was fly around then you never fully played the weapon in the first place because the vast majority of its moveset has always been focused on ground combat
As an Insect Glaive main I have to wholeheartedly agree. The IG is just clunkier, asks a lot in order to do its combos, for some reason slower even with all nectars, for some reason remove the air combat which even though it was not optimal at all it was fun. They made my favorite weapon no longer fun to use
Im not sure if its just me or what but i used to main IG in world, it looks like they removed the mid air triangle attack flying retention move, instead you just drop down, but idk if it's just me cause i tried with no buffs and with all 3 and i still drop, to me it just feels worse despite it's charge upgrade with it
I just started playing my first MH with MHRise some months ago and I'm so glad I main the longsword! I tried it in the MHWilds beta and OMG it feels fantastic!! I'm glad to hear that it's as powerful as it feels 😁
Hey Tera! Amazing and awesome Tier List :) Was waiting and looking forward this seeing as you are a true MH veteran. I have always appreciated and loved your videos and content. I know you mentioned considering maining Dual Blades and Lance. Would love to know and am curious as to what weapon(s) you are are gravitating towards and see yourself maining. I find myself going back and forth between Gunlance, Longsword, and Bow. I am leaning heavily towards Bow but it's so hard as many of the weapons seem so good and appealing. Personally, I would love to main Charge Blade in Wilds but honestly find/found it extremely intimidating in Worlds so I am hesitant. It does seem a lot more accessible now to new players so I tip my cap to Capcom for that. Anyways, thanks so much for this video and your Tier List! Keep up the great work! Can't wait for more of your videos/content in the future once the full game releases on February 28, 2025 :)
I wasn't very convinced about Insect Glaive at first, but then I literally just changed the "Hold Confirmation Duration" option from Default speed to Fast and unironically that did the trick I'm already that one guy that hates "aerial IG", cuz doing the helicopter is boring as fuck and you look way cooler and more stylish by using the air for dodging and repositioning instead of spinning, any "IG mains" mad at me for that, well, stay mad I guess, it's still true So overall for me the IG feels pretty similar to World's and you can circunvent the Kinsect in the demo being slow as shit with a few new tricks First off, you can Hold Y while aiming your kinsect so it "Pierces" the monster collecting multiple extracts at once instead of one at a time Second, if you use any attack while in Focus Mode, the kinsect attacks alongside you and actually collects extracts, so there's that too, sadly it doesn't seem to create any clouds as it would if you marked the enemy, which is kinda weird tbh or maybe I was just hitting them as they were being created so I just didn't notice idk And once you got the extracts keeping them up is pretty easy The new move that consumes the extracts gets new ones for you, I only got up to 2, but you probably can get all 3 with actually good positioning Using your Focus Strike on any wound also gets you all 3 extracts and I found IG to be one of the eassiest weapons to create wounds with, overall I think slicing weapons ARE the best ones for creating wounds So yeah, swap that option so using the new "Finisher" is easier and you'll see that overall it's in a pretty good place
For the Hamemr I am kinda struggling a bit with the new mighty charge it feels like its gonna be quite difficult to just randomly throw it out since it takes so long and on stunned I think Big Bang would mostly be the better choice. On the easy monster in the demo you can land it here and there but I wonder how to use it once more higher tier monsters are involved.
One thing that i think not enough people mention on SnS is that the sword combo is a movement option, like when i tried it it was so good it felt like every combo had a reason now with triangle being filler circle being short combos depending on the damage and then perfect rush for the big damage
As an IG main from what I’ve seen it looks like it’s more of a meld of old world and new world IG and I like that the kinsect is becoming more important rather than the Aerial combat (I am currently downloading wilds so we will see)
bro really gave the insect glaive c tier without even mentioning or showing the new attack that can only be done with all three buffs. Its SO damn strong and super fun, and it doesn't even get mentioned.
Heavy Bowgun Note: when your in the energy mode your wyvern snipe gains a charge to do some crazy damage, also the counter also charges if you pop it off just before a monster hits you, you deal very high damage and send them flying. Not to mention hbg comes standard with a shield now. Big thing to note is when you do a manual block, it provides you with guard up
bruh click baited me with the thumbnail pick, got mad when I saw the charge blade in c tire and i wanted to see what this rtard smoking. u got me well played 💀
Gunlance was my favourite in rise and I’m glad they gave it better mobility while keeping it more grounded. I love blast dash as much as the next guy, but realistically they weren’t adding that to a mainline game. I’m just happy with the additional movement and opportunities for aggression with guard clash and eventually incorporating the offensive guard skill.
toot main here toot feels the best it ever has for me and it feels good to not be animation locked while playing notes - attacking during songs was a genius addition to keep us supportive in buffs AND dmg
As a IG main since it was introduced into the series it makes me sad that they decided not to include Insect glaive in MH Wilds. The new one looks like IG but its been designed in the opposite direction IG is supposed to go. It went from the most mobile weapon with rapid attacks to... losing almost all of its mobility and now having charged attacks? Also the fact that now red buff doesnt give you the better combos now and instead you need triple buff is horrible and really slows IG down so much. It may be a good weapon in whatever regard it was designed but its not IG.
If you're looking at how you're supposed to play Insect Glaive, give my recorded stream a watch on my YT. In my opinion, it's never been easier to get your buffs faster for 2 reasons, 1. when you focus attack, you get all your buffs back and when your insect returns, and 2. you get a new charged insect attack the goes THROUGH the monster, allowing you to get all 3 buffs in one call even. Which is AMMAAZZINNGG for those monsters that have a tough buffs to get from their tummy on their floor for example. Therefore getting buffs has been an absolute breeze for me. Also I didn't see you using the biggest move Insect Glaive has in this game, the rising spiral slash, which does great damage and consumes your buffs, which your insect can also return with some, the move puts you in the air which puts you in a position to focus strike hard to reach wounds vertically , and focus attack regains all your buffs, so you rinse and repeat wounds with this high damage when wounds are available. The rising spiral slash can be used after your charged circle/B button from the ground or aerial with all buffs I believe. The exclusion of aerial hops is a bummer and I think is un-necessary to remove, I think they could just keep it to allow more play style freedom but the weapon can still be worked around. Not saying this is an S tier weapon, but I think there is going to need to be lots of experimentation for this weapon because of the big playstyle change in my opinion.
As a SnS main as well my favourite thing to do is an R2+🔺️ to evade monster attacks incoming because it always allows you to reposition whilst also maintaning dps. Deffinitly one of the weapons that didn't get that one big "new attack" but i imagine seeing meta builds on this weapon be amazing since its even more fluid to use.
Swax main and I love it. I was going to switch my main this game because I really didn’t want to zsd spam. But the play style is awesome. Switching between modes. Discharge here. Release explosion there. Zsd here. It’s awesome. And I’m struggling to pick a secondary weapon because they are all sick.
Being a gunlance main, I'm very happy with the changes so far. Additionally, I really like the bow changes and may use it as my secondary weapon once full game launches.
I can't wait to play the beta tonight and when it officially releases next year. Monster Hunter World was my first introduction in the series (I played a one of the older ones years ago but I couldn't get into it) and I tried to get into Rise (via Steam) and couldn't get into it. Wilds feels like a World 2 but with a decent sprinkle of Rise. I'm excited to kill monsters, carve their skin and show my friends my new armor/weapons, especially with how they tweaked/added newer and cooler moves for each weapons. As a Charge Blade main, I'm happy to see that you think it's S Tier. I approve this list. Happy Hunting, everyone!
Sns main here I actually love its play style now it feels like it compels me to think on my feet on which combos I should be stressing. Its not just a game of backstep PR anymore, though I really think they should it brought some oils back.
dude I've tried most of the weapons I play in the beta and GL has the sweetest upgrade out there. It just feels so nice to do the combos and I'm not even mad anymore that they remove the mobility since you can become a tank while riding the seikret(shelling on a seikret is peak combat)
I think the pentagon is trying to ascertain how to come up with a tier list as factual and hard truth as this. I'm not sure anymore mere mortals can live up to such truer fact giving.
As a hunting horn main i feel like we are eating well this generation. All the good of world horn but with some nice flavours of rise horn. Plus extras! Feel sorry for my daughter though, she's an IG main
I played MH since Tri and i don't consider myself as a pro but as a good player. I have to say i really enjoyed Rise because i got such a wide variety of moves, i understand that a lot of people didn't enjoyed the wirebugs, but to configurate your base kit on every weapon was massive, especially for me as a DB and IG main. For that reason both weapons feel like a big downgrades towards myself. For example the "new" dodge mechanic on DB is not really new because you had access to a different demon mode where you had less movement speed but could do attacks while dodging, airborne DB is non existing anymore and other than that we only got a but very static enhanced flurry, which is cool but not game changing. IG, yes it does more dmg on the ground, yes it may more optimal now...the variety is what i'm missing. Kinsect Slash was also so much better than the helicopter, you could even run an effective stun+para build on it because of it which was real fun in multiplayer, got 3 stuns and 3 para each time out of it. IG also doesn't have a good flow anymore, at least in my opinion. i also find it a bit difficult to hit the weakpoints after the rising spiral slash combo in multiplayer especially with a bow player who pops wounds as soon as they appear, so the end of the combo mostly doesn't feel sooo satisfying. Currently i'm consider to go back on LS which i didn't touched since MH3
Longsword, who, for free, get the same attack as rising spiral from kinsect as a follow up the helmbreaker… which they can cancel roll if they miss, unlike the rising spiral… saving their buff, which it only consumes 1/3 of, unlike rising spiral which takes all 3- Seriously, is this some kind of joke by capcom? What did capcom do to insect glaive that’s actually unique and fun?
How do you train with a new weapon after you pick on initially? I wanna switch up, but where can you practice a new weapon after the initial demo and you're in your tent??
Definitive undeniable un-debatable factual tier list
It literally will define the rest of existence as we know it XD
arent you the guy who gave the toy chica plush big boobs
Ok, IG main here, I found some good stuff after practicing with it:
1. You can charge the kinsect and send him like a drill getting 2/3 sometimes 3/3 extracts
2. The kinsect assist during Focus Mode Light attacks have waaaaaay longer range than you think, you actual THROW them in an arc, you can hit the backs of monsters with it pretty consistently
3. The new charged ground move and diving wyvern move can be charged DURING all other actions, you do not need to be in focus mode either, once I learned this using diving wyvern was way easier
4. If you save Wounds you can use the focus attack to regain all 3 extracts MID AIR if you aim properly
Honestly, we just need an option to either map button layouts/change button hold time for charging or just let me choose which move gets to be charged or tapped, that and we need the later kinsects with higher speed, Base Kinsects are notoriously miserable to use.
The IG controller inputs are so rough... That definetly needs to be adressed.
I Just Hope they make Like an Airborne glaive in the full Game, the glaive now only Lacks the bounce Up, it wouldnt be hard to add this
In conclusion, I want a training dummy in the next demo.

The button placement is absolutely horrendous and I feel like I’m going to get Carr tunnel having to play claw on a controller.
It took years boys.. but we did it.. we did it
(Gunlance main since 2007)
Shelling not absolutely decimating your sharpness is truly a boon from the gods 😂
We made it...finally..
I was so happy with my GL
But does shelling damage scale?
I feel you man. Hh main since my first mh (4u)
Don't forget shelling now recharges our double wyvern fires, no longer a cool down period!
@john-paulrose1581 SOME cool down, but now barely any compared to before. Good changes all around
Gotta say switch axe is my favorite it’s so cool to have a giant axe and then have it transform into a great sword
My worry with the gun Lance is that it's just a Spam wyvern blast machine
Since work, best IG combo was a ground combo, using aerial just to evade an reposition
I personally just don't like the current air combat, it feels so unrewarding to play compared to other weapons
Bonk S Tier, I happy.

The freaking offset strike on gs is borderline free everytime you use it. Changes up the weapon in the beat way possible without changing its identity like strongarm did. Been having a blast with it.
did the slinger shot into TCS get removed?
There is so much free damage lmao it feels like no matter what I do I’m being rewarded. Idk just feels cheap.
Sry Im german but a gs main - what is the offset strike? Not sure if I saw that while playig :D
Really upset with the insect glaive, it feels so much more clunky and just wrong compared to World, as it was my main and unfortunately will not be here in Wilds.
Its a beta test I dont think thats all of its movesets.
I only played around with it a little in Wilds, but it feels bad how little air time you get compared to World. Like the ground game seems pretty good, but the point of the weapon was the airplay imo, so it seems like a strange decision to make that so much worse.
IG actually does pretty good dps now with it's resource spender, though it's true we lost our fluid mobility in the air.
Same with GS. Completely destroyed the design philosophy behind the weapon. No longer focused around landing a single massive strike with huge motion value. TCS does 10 damage more than a strong charge.
It is not strictly an offset counter weapon. Horrible change
I agree I switched to ls
IG aerial nerf is heart wrenching. Flying was why I picked it up in the first place. Really don't even want to play the game now in all honestly. I was excited to get home and play the beta until I saw this. Truly disappointing.
you can do what you want but i really think youre missing out of you only ever use one weapon in monster hunter. they all have so much depth and extend the life of the game so much.
Not playing over that is insane 😂😂😂
@@aidanfenton4377 sometimes that one weapon is why people play the game
Is understandable but IG before world was a weapon that it was suppose to have an aerial attack just to mount the monsters, the true glaive was ground style. Anyways I hope u give it another try and get used to it probably in the expansion they will add aerial
Someone out there wished for cool new moves for the insect glaive and a finger on the monkey's paw curled. Just played the beta for a few hours and I am beyond disappointed that I won't be maining that weapon anymore.
Everything I've seen from Insect Glaive has been underwhelming and disappointing
It's become a high skill required weapon.
i like it 😔😔😔
Its a sad day my man :( . I returned my pre-order because they've absolutely gutted my main weapon.
i love that the greatsword actually looks like a sword and not bone surf board

Yeah because this game is for babies and plays its self. Not sure why being able to never miss a poorly placed attack is being praised as good.

Yeah Ive used the IG since it was introduced and when i tried this version it felt like my character was wearing lead shoes.
Yeah it sucks, at least this will force me to move on and try something else
Weapon felt more fluid than in world and rise combined? It's a new gameplay loop that require more than just staying in the air and stacking damage, its a lot more in depth than before. And the combos feel great and fluid, maybe you're just too used to trying to perform the old combos because I had more fun with the weapon then ever in the beta
Honestly as a IG main from world I do respect the tier you put IG in as when I have been using it seriously does feel foreign for the player to be on the ground more
So excited for Wilds! BONK IS LOVE, BONK IS LIFE.
I'm gonna main hammer and hunting horn for double the bonk!!
I’ve been playing gunlance since the day it came out. And I have to say, for the very first time, in wilds, I finally feel like I’m the strongest
you are ;)
Hopefully Insect Glaive gets a buff on release. I don't play it at all but I hear IG Mains complaining about it tho
Any weapon you choose is S tier. Happy hunting people!
thats how people bad at game cope
@JanPapiezGaming You ok though?
Beautifully said
Nah I agree.
@@Lulink013
Until you’re with allies.
Now you have to fight them for wounds to get your buffs, because your new best option for ‘optimal dps’ is the rising spiral.
An attack longsword just gets tacked onto the end of helmbreaker (no seriously, look at it), without the ‘fall to the ground’ part.
@@samakiraroyjanssen6326 this
As an Insect glaive main since 4u I disagree.
This is the first monster hunter game that genuinely made me want to try each single weapon for an extensive period of time.
Charge Blade is in S tier, that's all that matters.
the focus attack and double charged SAED is 🤤
CB needed a redemption arc after how awful it is in RiseBreak. Same with Ham, HH, and IG.

But honestly I feel like some of the changes are limiting. It is a lot more situational to go into savage axe, and the lack of SAED being instantly accessible is also a loss.
The new combos bump it up and phials being buffed is nice, so the buffs outweigh the “nerfs”.
I do dislike how Wilds seems to have decreased the amount of commitment heavy/fast hitting weapons have. It's detrimental to overall game balance imo
usually id agree, but one thing i noticed is monsters also seem to be more fluid and less committed too, so maybe as we rank up we dont leave them in the dirt they can actually keep up?
insect glaive was my most used in all the games i played since it was introduced, i used it on 4 monsters then stopped bringing it in ths beta. it feels like every melee weapon got better at repositioning or going aerial but the weapon based around repositioning and going aerial literally had tht taken away from it. they wanted people to stop doing the air dance so they gave it the worst speed vs damage ground combos without extracts (slow kinsect makes extracts a slog) and gutted aerial combos. i was hoping it gets treated like range were the early vs late game weapons are like night and day
@@Carisma1005 hopefully!
I can't remember any demo/early game scenario where ranged felt awesome or portrayed as strong. Though the reasons may differ: (needing skills vs needing to LVL up bugpal) hopefully IG feels better than the demo may suggest.
Nah, collecting buffs is EASIER than before:
- you can charge the "collect" command to pierce and get the 3 at once
- you can do focus mode combos to have the insect collect WHILE YOU ATTACK
- you can get all of them INSTANTLY as a bonus when hitting weak points
But hey, why would they trivialize it so much? Wouldn't that make it feel meaningless?
Nope, because you can now spend the triple buff on one very strong rising tornado move!
Instead of sitting on triple buff hoping we don't run out at the wrong time we get to decide when it's time to collect or spend.
you collect buffs just by attacking. and focus strike gives you all 3
Biggest thing about the IG is you NEED to be doing light and heavy attacks while holding Focus Mode. You get the buffs a lot easier, get some extra damage from the kinsect, and if you can figure out claw grip there is a upward arial attack that does a lot of damage but consumes all 3 buffs.
A lil sad since I loved Glaive in worlds, and now it feels all wonky. Switch Axe and Charge blade are my favorites so far.

PS: I'm not saying it's not good or anything. It's just that I don't like it anymore. If you still like it, good for you
and you need 4 hands to play it on controller. I don't understand some of these changes.....
I always loved the insect glaive, and it does feel like they butchered it...
I've mained every weapon at one point or another, I'm planning SNS and HBG for wilds and the main story and dabble with LS, bow, DBs,Lance, lbg in postgame.
If I don't narrow my choices for a weapon early, I spend waaaay too much time through early/mid game grinding materials
😅
With insect glaive being my most used weapon in other games the feeling of it just repulsed me in the beta. I hate that change
I'm just gonna go play Rise for now to cope with what they did to my precious insect glaive
The increased mobility on Gunlance is an actual godsend.
Being an Elemental Charge Blade user for all of World, Icebourne, Rise and Sunbreak, it breaks my heart that they changed the way I can go into SAED in Wilds. I used to be able to do 2 SAED’s in 5 seconds if I wanted to 😢
They focus on axe mode now I guess
I feel your pain. The ZSD for switch axe has been changed to the long press of 🔺️ + O when the sword is charged. (I'll get smacked by the monster it activates in 3 seconds .)😢
It didn't feel too bad for me, instead of going right into it it's like 1 or 2 more inputs that are attacks of their own, plus iirc you can still go into saed if you counter of perfect block, do we do still have a way to go right into it just not on demand
For glaive, i set focus mode as a toggle because the kinsect follows your attacks in focus mode similar to assist in risebreak, getting buffs is easier later during the fight cos focus strike grabs all 3 and can be performed during a vault to hit backs and wings and stuff
and you can charge the kinsect to get more buffs at once
Oh lord I didn't even realize focus mode could be toggled. Gotta try IG again with that option selected.
Wonder why it isn't set as a toggle by default tbh
I love that on Charge Blade now we can over charge phials for extended shield buff or extra damage
I find it pretty interesting that you put the bowguns so low considering they felt so much better to use in the Beta than they ever felt to me in World. It was actually crazy how much fun i hade with them.
As a HH main, the only thing I dislike is the new encore. Sure it's faster, but I really miss the movement decision of the old encore.
toot main here and I hard agree
I’ve been messing around with inputs and so far I only see 2 performance beats movements and the 1 encore always ending the same regardless of input
it still feels great to me but if they give us some of those options again it’d be perfectttt
Gunlance mobility buff is straight up illegal, the damn thing way more fun to use now
I agree 90%. Idk how they made insect glaive so bad but it's true ig is much worse. I kinda disagree with the Great sword especially when you can use focus mode to turn 180 degrees and land TTS with much higher accuracy .
Why you're lying bro
Homing arrow feels like cheating. As well as Gunning monster while riding. As a ranged weapons main, I'm happy.
My poor je suis monte has gotten nerfed so hard, it now jumps straight into the trash, sad 😔
I hope they buff the Je suis monte weapon
Does Capcom ever buff or nerf weapons? Make changes based on feedback or are weapons like Insect Glaive doomed to be F tier forever?
They might do something about it at launch, if not, wait until DLC lol
It’s too late for the moveset to be changed now the only things that will get buffed or nerfed really are damage numbers.
@ It’s funny because I spent 5 hours playing IG tonight and I think I’m going to main it in Wilds! I absolutely love it.
Im not sure if its just me or what but i used to main IG in world, it looks like they removed the mid air triangle attack flying retention move, instead you just drop down, but idk if it's just me cause i tried with no buffs and with all 3 and i still drop, to me it just feels worse despite it's charge upgrade with it
Love seeing the hunting horn getting love, it’s definitely the most fun I’ve had with the HH
As a gunlance enjoyer this tier list makes me happy
I wasn't very convinced about Insect Glaive at first, but then I literally just changed the "Hold Confirmation Duration" option from Default speed to Fast and unironically that did the trick
I'm already that one guy that hates "aerial IG", cuz doing the helicopter is boring as fuck and you look way cooler and more stylish by using the air for dodging and repositioning instead of spinning, any "IG mains" mad at me for that, well, stay mad I guess, it's still true
So overall for me the IG feels pretty similar to World's and you can circunvent the Kinsect in the demo being slow as shit with a few new tricks
First off, you can Hold Y while aiming your kinsect so it "Pierces" the monster collecting multiple extracts at once instead of one at a time
Second, if you use any attack while in Focus Mode, the kinsect attacks alongside you and actually collects extracts, so there's that too, sadly it doesn't seem to create any clouds as it would if you marked the enemy, which is kinda weird tbh or maybe I was just hitting them as they were being created so I just didn't notice idk
And once you got the extracts keeping them up is pretty easy
The new move that consumes the extracts gets new ones for you, I only got up to 2, but you probably can get all 3 with actually good positioning
Using your Focus Strike on any wound also gets you all 3 extracts and I found IG to be one of the eassiest weapons to create wounds with, overall I think slicing weapons ARE the best ones for creating wounds
So yeah, swap that option so using the new "Finisher" is easier and you'll see that overall it's in a pretty good place
I hate the IG… and yes, I am PISSED lol
For the Hamemr I am kinda struggling a bit with the new mighty charge it feels like its gonna be quite difficult to just randomly throw it out since it takes so long and on stunned I think Big Bang would mostly be the better choice. On the easy monster in the demo you can land it here and there but I wonder how to use it once more higher tier monsters are involved.
You can combo into mighty charge from golfswing. It's pretty awesome.
One thing that i think not enough people mention on SnS is that the sword combo is a movement option, like when i tried it it was so good it felt like every combo had a reason now with triangle being filler circle being short combos depending on the damage and then perfect rush for the big damage
What did they do to my IG 😭😭😭 time to main a new weapon after 2 diff MH games
IG feels horrible to play on controller, they took all fun out of the weapon
As an IG main from what I’ve seen it looks like it’s more of a meld of old world and new world IG and I like that the kinsect is becoming more important rather than the Aerial combat
(I am currently downloading wilds so we will see)
It hath been five hours.
What do you think of our poor, poor boi?
bro really gave the insect glaive c tier without even mentioning or showing the new attack that can only be done with all three buffs. Its SO damn strong and super fun, and it doesn't even get mentioned.
never played gunlance but I've been hearing a lot of love, ill try it tomorrow
Friendship ended with insect glaive
Charge blade new best friend
Heavy Bowgun Note: when your in the energy mode your wyvern snipe gains a charge to do some crazy damage, also the counter also charges if you pop it off just before a monster hits you, you deal very high damage and send them flying. Not to mention hbg comes standard with a shield now. Big thing to note is when you do a manual block, it provides you with guard up
I gotta say I feel like HBG is at least high A tier.
It's finally here, the golden age of the boomstick

Insect glaciers my beloved what have they done to you how could you lose to lance
The goofy bug pole always loses to the weapon of Spartan chads anyway so don’t worry
As a hammer main, the new style is kinda fun

toot feels the best it ever has for me
and it feels good to not be animation locked while playing notes - attacking during songs was a genius addition to keep us supportive in buffs AND dmg

Been loving hammer and DB the most so far!
I was debating your ability to make a tier list until you put Charge blade rightfully in S so this is automatically correct in every way.
As a Db and Bow main, this pleases me immensely… although, I’d argue Bow is stronger than you think, but otherwise I’m pleased with the list.

Awesome vid Tera, been having alot of fun on the beta!!! My weapons (LS,CB) feel phenomenal! Gotta try out some more
As a SnS main as well my favourite thing to do is an R2+🔺️ to evade monster attacks incoming because it always allows you to reposition whilst also maintaning dps.
I miss being able to mount the monster, even though it wasn’t optimal, it was fun to do
@xxdrbadassxx you can still mount with zsd. Hold the input until you attach then spam triangle.
Its the age of Bonk.
Gimme my Bonk mod for Wilds to make it perfect.
Given I main HH, and generally alt GS, Lance, IG, and Bow: I’m happy with the state of everything except IG.
Longsword, who, for free, get the same attack as rising spiral from kinsect as a follow up the helmbreaker… which they can cancel roll if they miss, unlike the rising spiral… saving their buff, which it only consumes 1/3 of, unlike rising spiral which takes all 3-
Seriously, is this some kind of joke by capcom? What did capcom do to insect glaive that’s actually unique and fun?
As it seems IG have been gutten to the ground I hope they change it before the release.
I hope they listen to feedback
bro i have never been this happy playing a game in a while. pls february wait for me
Heavy Bow Gun easily S-tier when you fullly play it
How do you train with a new weapon after you pick on initially? I wanna switch up, but where can you practice a new weapon after the initial demo and you're in your tent??
Spinning Reaper isnt new, the charge attack after it is though.
Swaxe actually has 2 counters. Y+B in axe form and RT + Y in sword form.
Ayo Tera would you drop the sliders of your character? She is super cute!
they ruined insect glaive, they removed the aerial combos.. sad.
