Maggie Gyllenhall just went public that she was turned down for a roll of a 55 year old love interest(she's 37 and still hot). That is what this skit is about.
MegaMoose1989 The character is in her early 20s in the book the movie is based on. Why would she think a 37 year old would be appropriate for that part?
Nayr747 The point is that a woman who is almost 20 years this guy's junior and she's too old??? The second point is that, as usual, f#@!ing journo's left out the very important fact that the book is about a May-December romance betw. a 50s guy and a 20s girl, if what you say is true. Just a shit sandwich all around...
Nayr747 Which book? Must have been written by a man cuz only a 55year old man would think that a 20 year old would be interested in him.... for any extended period of time. (shrug)

***** When i first saw the blonde at 0:25 , for a split half a second i thought it was Amy Poehler then i saw how big she was and realized it wasn't (No offence Patricia Arquette and congrats on the Oscar, your speech was amazing)
Shelby Enlow If this on your scale of child murder to Dave Chappelle is 'absolutely hysterical', I feel sorry for you. This is at best a laugh to break the awkward silence.
the thing with this sketch is that is not filled with LOL moments but is more entertaining through out and with, i think are, intelligent jokes. And the fact that all of these important funny ladies are talking about women roles in hollywood and how they are portrayed is incredibly important and funny to me Go Amy!
Thatsthewayitgoes "No they're the sort of women who NEVER complained about any of this when they WERE getting lots of work...". Well, there was nothing to complain in those days because there is no problem of demand for young women in hollywood. What Amy is doing in this video is just point out that in Hollywood, women are not considered sexual beings once they've reached a certain age. "... and being paid salaries that most can only dream of in their life time female OR male." Yes they get paid a lot, but the thing here is that their salaries are never mentioned in the video, because it's not relevant to the pointed out issue, women sexuality in hollywood. "Why can't these type of women and men just be honest that their egos can't cope with the fact they're not in their 20s or 30s anymore". I think the video actually shows these women celebrating in a way that they are no longer these ages. For hollywood it's easier to portray a young woman as a sexual interest than something else, and when these important and relevant ladies of the industry reach an older age they portray more of a nurturing beings. "Schumer is a hypocrite because she IS in demand and over rated." I'm sorry you feel that way but I don't believe Amy is a hypocrite cause she never said if you are in demand you are considered "fuckable", more like if you are young there's a "fuckable" character for you to portray in the industry. Finally what i take from the video is that women sexuality is not decided by no one else but herself, she is the only one to decide how she feels with it, and what she wants to do with it. An sorry for making this so long it's just such an interesting subject
+Liz S. Cox None of us can pretend to know or understand what some of these women have been through behind closed doors unless we were there. And yes, Schumer is in demand and that is the entire point. No other actresses who are in demand are saying this, the three older actresses in the video, as you say did not when they were younger but Schumer's brand is that she doesn't give a fuck so she is brave enough to say it now - which is a smart move for her in terms of career longevity (she sets herself up as being willing to laugh at herself and her 'short comings' in the Hollywood sense now and she won't be seen to 'age' because she won't be losing anything as she ages) and also drawing attention to an important issue. You say an actress is a hypocrite for saying this whilst young and in demand but should quit whining if they get to a certain age and never say it?!?!
+Thatsthewayitgoes Hollywood is extremely sexist and racist. It's a fact. I'm simply a consumer and it doesn't affect me (except in terms of self esteem I suppose growing up and learning what was desirable). It doesn't matter who making the point. Don't shoot the messenger.
I love how they aren't getting down on the women hypothetically taking their places in the media. Too often women get into the whole blaming women thing and ignore the men or society at large and its role in the issue. But it's just great when there isn't slut shaming or tearing other women down to bring ourselves up. Super refreshing and cool.
I think I read that Amy had this script ready to go for years, but she could not find other women who would do it with her. Somehow, right after her Oscar, Patricia Arquette agreed to do it, much to Amy's surprise, and with that she was able to entice Tina Fey and JL Dreyfus to join them!
If only Hollywood/Bollwood would start showing actresses in their 40s+ with their male love interests that are half their age too. After all, women do outlive men anyways.
Don John Married men have better mental/physical health, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, better diets, & longer life expectancies. Married women on the other hand don't really share these benefits. I think it's women who should reconsider marriage...
Don John wtf does that have to do with anything this video is about or my comments? It seems you still have a few more issues you need to overcome buddy...

Reading through comment sections the last few days, feeling worse and worse about the prevalence of sexism (from both genders, don't get triggered). This gave me a hearty pick-me-up, thanks ladies.
This is sooo true! If you want proof, watch 'Lifetime' movies, where actresses over 'a certain age' can be seen wearing a big sweater, in the kitchen, dealing with dreary family problems - while male contemporaries star as the love interest of their screen daughters.
Love this because it's calling out that the media tears women apart, when the men always look "good". Like women aren't allowed to age but men can. Amy is so good
That is not true at all. The men do NOT always look good. Humans as a species do not age very gracefully (yes, this includes you and the rest of the women). Also, I'd bet if Matt Damon wore 100 pounds of Botox on his face he'd be on the headlines, too.
Sexism is obviously a terrible thing. But this new age feminism movement is filled to the brim with false statistics. Woman are equal to men. There will always be individual cases where some piece of shit is sexist and does something inappropriate. But over all the system is equal. I used to buy into feminism. All the throw away phrases and supposed "statistics." Like, the pink tax, woman make 75 cents to the dollar. Shit like that. But when you actually look into the numbers, they're simply wrong. In fact, we have strong laws in place to protect against sexism. There are many places in the world where woman are ACTUALLY treated like shit. Those are places that need feminism. If the feminist in the US or the UK actually care about woman, they should spend their energy trying to help those woman. The ones who are actually being oppressed.
Very funny..and if you look at the history of Hollywood, VERY TRUE INDEED! Even in the 1930's, turning 40 was supposed to be the end of your career as an actress. Of course many of the leading ladies of the era refused to put up with it. Some things have changed and many have not.
Very humorous! At the end of the day, only we have the power to define ourselves. Not those who try to drag us down to their level because they envy our happiness. Beauty, love, & fun exist at every age! ❤️
Lol why do I even bother reading youtube comments It's so funny how some people here whine when amy talks about sex and then immediately talk about whether or not you'd have sex with her like you even have a chance It's seriously pathetic
overthehedgeisamovie The premise of this video is pathetic. All of these attractive women with long careers and they joke about hanging up their pussies like some rain coat that's been out in the sun too long. Come on. I think pretty much everyone, girls included, would fuck them.
Who's watching this in 2021 after seeing Gary Oldman (62) and Tuppence Middleton (33) play Herman and Sara Mankiewicz in Fincher's "Mank" even though in real life Herman and Sara were exactly the same age???
"Men never reach that." Too true, too many movies out there where I'm like, wow, why is he in this movie, couldn't they have gotten someone actually hot, instead of someone who looks like tanned leather?
labyrinthgirl17 Because men can make babies at any age, women run out of eggs. Now for both its attractive to have at least some years left to make multiple kids, even if you're not actually going to, because instincts.
@@johnfrancisdoe1563 fuck instincts, when somebody looks like your papa then age matters , no matter how many babies that old guy can make. Stop deluding yourself. The amount of old guys which are presented as supposed hot guys is really gross, and next moment you look at a normal guy their age, equal in terms of looks but you would vomit at the idea of having sex with them.
I’ve noticed than in European cinema (especially French and Italian) actresses who are middle-aged never perceived as “old boring, not fuckable anymore”. They usually play confident charismatic characters, who fuck either their peers or have boy toys. In America, women in film treated as a product. First wrinkles - bye, girl. I loved the novel “Theatre” and the film adaptation “Being Julia” that deals with this issue in a witty way.
Yea, it's true; wrinkles, sagging skin and grey hair in men are seen as signs of maturity, while those same signs are seen as haggardness/ugliness in women. Actors like Hugh Jackman doesn't look half as good as he used to in the early 2000s; same with Tom Cruise, Ralph Fiennes, Leo DiCaprio. But society has ingrained this "women are irrelevant after 40" via novels, movies, so everyone thinks it's normal. For most of the time in history, 99% of womankind on this planet had two jobs; attract men and reproduce as many babies as possible. To attract the best men they had to be 1)Beautiful, 2)Young(because, more number of pregnancies). As men were the bread earners, they didn't have to look good, they had to have money, and they could empty their ball's contents in any girl they chose. Those gender roles played it's way into Hollywood, in the early 1900s, when women had just got the right to vote. Those roles are somewhat prevalent even now. Of course affairs existed too, young men courted older women in secret, but those were all hush hush stuff as it was all wrong in the eyes of Jesus and society.
Men are also funnier than women because women had it easy when it comes to getting laid, men had to adapt their personalities and improve their comedic timing and ability to woo a woman. Women, on the other hand, just need to open their legs and some dog will hop in. Not all men have thousands of dollars to throw at women or dashingly good looks, but nearly all women have fuckholes that men value more than most anything. Welcome to basic biology, women make babies and society needs a healthy birth rate. Men need to try harder when they're younger, women need to try harder when they're older. Does society ingrain these mentalities, or are these mentalities natural and show through media and the consumer base - respectively? Nature vs. Nurture, this has been going on for a long, looooong time and appears in 99% of societies that haven't totally collapsed.
I think you re a male arsehole , anyway, who 's just trotting out the same patriarchal shite that has made women slaves for always pisspypoor reasoning on yr part, exclusively directed by you benefitting from the status quo
This video is so funny and sheds light on a sorrowful reality. Young appearances holds great potential value, especially for ladies (more attention than it is for males) but that value will gradually drop as you age. For men, society doesn't base much of their value on looks. I love that instead of holding on to that value and/or feeling bitter about it, they are celebrating it.
It's funny because the root of the problem are "the victims" themselves. Who still go after the rich men? *beat* Right, women do. Why don't you start a campaign against dating rich men?
KingBowserVlog Oh I see. I thought you were being serious when you said there was a problem and that they were victims. I was a little confused because it didn't seem that way at all in the video.
I thought it was funny because people tend to react with grief when they are losing something of value as they are transitioning to the next stage of life. Older men lose to younger men in their physical abilities. Older women lose to younger women in their physical appeal. They were in fact, doing the opposite of grief, as I already mentioned. They were acknowledging, accepting, and moving to their next transition of life in a comical way (going back home on a boat)
We need to tackle ageism as it relates to feminism so badly. It's an epidemic that harms young girls and older women. It's absolutely awful. I LOVE all these women. I want to grow up to be like them
This is a joke! A great joke but still a joke. Tina and Julia are fantastic. Agism is a problem, but so is sexism, and today that vast majority of sexism is feminism! Reality begins for women when they stop receiving favorable treatment. They are free to stop exploiting men's feelings at any time!
Double standards exist in both genders and for a good reason, because nothing is explicitly in black or white and people can have it hard/easy in different ways.
This sketch really hit home. The second I passed 22 years of age I started becoming very conscious of my age and how people treat me. I'm only 24 nearly 25, but I've had people call me "old" right to my face or behind my back many times already; Or more commonly "too old to do this" (reference: wearing mini skirts) or "too old to do that" (reference: dying hair bright colours). I'm only 24 yet I'm already being treated like an expired product, to the point that I admit that I've lied about my age to people a few times. I'm not looking forward to my forties if this is what its like to be a woman in your mid twenties.
Exactly , I'm 22 and have been feeling like a burden since i was 20, and will probably feel like it untill I'm married to a guy, and then I'll have to put up with him because i don't want to feel again like my good days are numbered. It doesn't even matter that i don't want to get married in the first place.
I just love when Julia says "She'll be good". So sweet and extremely funny.
"Nothing but white spiders..."

Very funny..and if you look at the history of Hollywood, VERY TRUE INDEED! Even in the 1930's, turning 40 was supposed to be the end of your career as an actress. Of course many of the leading ladies of the era refused to put up with it. Some things have changed and many have not.
Yeah, Lucille Ball didn't become an address until she was in her 40's and did good. ☺
All of them are amazing.
The best actresses together . I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Genius. Extremely well thought out and written.
Sally Field wuz here. Lol

I mean, Tina Fey and Julia-Lewis...
This is insta-win!
Very humorous! At the end of the day, only we have the power to define ourselves. Not those who try to drag us down to their level because they envy our happiness. Beauty, love, & fun exist at every age! ❤️
1:35 The shade of it all! LMAO
Schumer is one of the most fucking consistent people in comedy. I laugh a lot. If I'm not laughing, I'm always entertained.
Elliott Harris well you're normally laughing at modified versions of jokes stolen from other performers.
Comedy skits will often make me smile or chuckle, but it's kinda rare when they actually make me laugh out loud. This one did the trick.
Lol why do I even bother reading youtube comments
It's so funny how some people here whine when amy talks about sex and then immediately talk about whether or not you'd have sex with her like you even have a chance
It's seriously pathetic
overthehedgeisamovie Guys always talk about sex, whether there is a "chance" or not. Just like women.
overthehedgeisamovie The premise of this video is pathetic. All of these attractive women with long careers and they joke about hanging up their pussies like some rain coat that's been out in the sun too long. Come on. I think pretty much everyone, girls included, would fuck them.
Pathetic just liek ur mum
Comedy needed someone like Amy Schumer.
Yes!!!
+PalmurcioWorld Really?
true:PP
+Arkanis Bawlz I agree.
+PalmurcioWorld Yes, we ALL needed an unfunny fat fuck of a broad to inflict herself upon us.
I don't watch Amy Schumer, but I love how she talks about stuff no one else does.
I loved Patricia Arquette SO MUCH in her TV series, “Medium.” Highly recommend! It’s the perfect show to binge-watch like I have done many times.
JEN and CARRIE's Vanilla of a Certain Age LOL
This was so brilliant and painfully accurate.
God dammit, why did I scroll down and look at the comments....
"Oh there she goes like a shooting star, she got fireworks in her heart."
"Nothing but white spiders coming out" love that XD
One of the few truly great bits AS has ever done. Feminist, authentic AND funny as hell.
BEST THING ON THE INTERNET.
Lol I've always thought Amy was funny but jesus this was just so clever
Absolutely brilliant! Sally Fields waz here
3:43 you GO girl!!
Who's watching this in 2021 after seeing Gary Oldman (62) and Tuppence Middleton (33) play Herman and Sara Mankiewicz in Fincher's "Mank" even though in real life Herman and Sara were exactly the same age???
I absolutely died at "nothing but white spiders coming out"
How has this not broken the internet..
dilemma may cuz they’re not fuckable
1:34
- hey, who got that?
- JLo
(pause)
- oh... she’ll be gooood
LMAO
I love that they're still supportive of other women no matter what. It would have been so easy to make them grumble about J-Lo. Great writing.
Hilarious! 🤣 how Tina came in with the 🏹🔥
Sure
the cigar at the end just makes me laugh so so hard,
"Men never reach that." Too true, too many movies out there where I'm like, wow, why is he in this movie, couldn't they have gotten someone actually hot, instead of someone who looks like tanned leather?
labyrinthgirl17 Because men can make babies at any age, women run out of eggs. Now for both its attractive to have at least some years left to make multiple kids, even if you're not actually going to, because instincts.
John Francis Doe Any age? Sure, maybe with the help of his friend Viagra. The time goes by for all.
Wasn't Audrey Hepburn costar way older than her? Same with Natalie Wood
Yeah cause good looks is the only requirement for lead roles. You just showed your iq.
Satire, its so funny yet true that it makes people laugh uncomfortably lol
I'm not a big fan of Amy , but this sketch is pretty much genius. I feel sorry for you , if the message goes totally over your head
Amy is shit,
m.th-cam.com/video/GOkr983KdDM/w-d-xo.html
@@Urothewarrior I did say I wasn't a big fan. This particular sketch is very well thought out. The woman herself is vile.
Agreed on both counts I was actually responding to Mike England
@@jrb1802uk probably wasnt her material then. It's too intelligent to be hers it's very Male humor. Her jokes tend to be cringey and idiotic.
@@jrb1802uk Stop feeling sorry for yourself
hysterical.....when she lit the cigar. lmao
Omg my two lady crushes! Julia and Tina are so freaking cute and pretty!
'Sally Field was here'... 😂😂😂😂😂
sharaxxvable 😹😂🎭🤡🃏🃏🃏🃏🃏
Since we have come way past the situation of needing to reproduce for our species' survival, hopefully, things will change.
I think you re a male arsehole , anyway, who 's just trotting out the same patriarchal shite that has made women slaves for always
pisspypoor reasoning on yr part, exclusively directed by you benefitting from the status quo
one of the best sketches of the series!
laughter tears... can't contain them !!! help!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
"He can be 90 with white spiders coming out and he's still...."
*beat*
Right, women do. Why don't you start a campaign against dating rich men?
+KingBowserVlog Why would you insist I do that?
Keena Sena I was being sarcastic.
Amy
yeaaa! amy schumer we love her, she makes me laugh everytime lol!
@@divyansh22b Nice joke 😂
THE DOUBLE STANDARDS IN COMEDY... right here..
Double standards exist in both genders and for a good reason, because nothing is explicitly in black or white and people can have it hard/easy in different ways.
_Ben & Jerry's Vanilla of a Certain Age._
Well played.
Hilarious. I would gladly get blisters on my tongue from going down on Julia Louis-Dreyfus for hours. HOURS.
+Sarah Nobbs Oh honey. Just wait until you hit 50. To most people, you become invisible. They cannot see you. You're sort of wallpaper...set dressing.
Awww poor baby, is life not fair?
People are treating you exactly correctly, Sarah.
Exactly , I'm 22 and have been feeling like a burden since i was 20, and will probably feel like it untill I'm married to a guy, and then I'll have to put up with him because i don't want to feel again like my good days are numbered. It doesn't even matter that i don't want to get married in the first place.
