Migration is a good thing to uk for Skilled labour, but the uk I feel has changed beyond what I remember as a young boy (period of 30years), the integration is becoming nonexistent, their are separated communities in every City & Town around the country, the Hospitals, Doctors, Dentists cannot cope with the influx of so many people , my mother or myself cannot get an appointment with any of the latter two like we used to be able too years ago, this Country has always been a tolerant and fair country but I feel it is having a negative effect on the people who are born and bred in this country as it’s becoming a nightmare for Housing, Welfare, ( we work hard and our tax is constantly going up?), the crime rate is through the roof with prisons unable to accommodate?, also the transport system is rammed way more than it used to be? and I’ve been at work in a skilled position where we have had gangs of men who have been sent to us via agency’s as Labourers but cannot take instructions as they can’t speak a word of English 😮, I don’t know what the answer is but this is not working at the rate of how many migrants are coming with legal and illegals, something has to change and people who have migrated here years ago I have as friends agree that this open door policy has to stop, and we have elections coming up currently and I can see big changes happening with the British public and can hear it from people from many walks of life wanting change to happen, Labour may win this election who won’t change much, but Reform uk party may well become the opposition to Labour by destroying the Conservatives in the voting system and we may find big changes on the horizon in next 4 years as they may well end up kicking Labour out and winning the election, and they have some very radical changes I feel this country needs.

The security arguments make very little sense but they do serve as a very powerful dog whistle.
That is probably why few talk about the relationship between organised crime and trade flows through our biggest ports or the relationship between some of our political actors and foreign governments.
We need only look at Brexit to see how dishonest and populist policies (thanks Bojo) directly lead to extremely poor policy outcomes.

What?! Are you suggesting Brexit wasn't a good idea, just because a lot of questionable money funded the campaign, the process was a sham, the economic cost is inexplicable and it ended up creating lovely, like in sanitation, so that Britain's waters are now mostly polluted by untreated, raw seawage?! What an idea...

@@stirlingmoss9637 That these so-called 'security arguments' are just a euphemism for nativism as an electoral strategy which, conversely, serves to distract society from real security problems, such as Russian interference and the globalisation of criminal organisations, to name the most obvious examples.
