    I agree with most of the video. Except for homework. Homework is inequitable in my view. Those students who have support at home to complete and understand the homework will receive it, while those who do not are left struggling. Homework can also eat away at valuable family time. At least in the elementary level, homework should be something broad that benefits all students through practice. This includes reading a book and practicing essential math facts (like multiplication tables).

      Jose Magana I agree with this, as a teacher in the urban financially challenged demographic, I find homework pointless for my kids

    • @jyates42
      @jyates42 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      You could look at it in the sense that although you assign homework, it is not a graded component. I assign homework every night. I ask my students to submit it and I follow up with students that don't. I use the homework as a way to assess their learning, but I don't mark students down if they forget to bring in their assignment unless it is a project.
      There is a big stigma around homework and time spent to complete it. I don't assign busy work, but I do assign work that has them reflect on what was discussed and taught in class. I fully understand that some students will have much more support at home than others, so it is important that I work with the students who get less support. An easy way to figure this out is to check to see who repeatedly misses assignments.
      I am definitely not trying to tell either of you how to do your job. I have the utmost respect for any teacher who has decided to take this on as a profession. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

      I came from a rough home. No one helped me with my homework and I managed to get into honors classes. My parents couldn’t help me with homework, but I would get punished if I brought home anything less than an A. I still had time for family, and as soon as I was old enough, got a part-time job.

    A lesson plan is a teacher's daily guide for what students need to learn, how it will be taught, and how learning will be measured. It typically includes the goal (what students need to learn), how the goal will be achieved (the method of delivery and procedure) and a way to measure how well the goal was reached (usually via homework assignments or testing). An organised teacher will always be able to deliver the lesson within the given time frame. It boosts the confidence of the teacher.

    5 hours of planning for 1 hour of teaching. Something is wrong with this system. Bureaucracy thrives. You suck the life out of teachers. You treat students as if they are robots. Getting rid of such meticulous planning would be a very good approach.

You take about 10 clinical courses in which the lesson plan is the central focus of what students produce. All professional clinical courses require that you work in a school(para, student teacher). Within the context of each course, you design lesson plans and units. A faculty member observes you teaching your lesson plans.

    lesson plan serves as a guide that a teacher uses every day to determine what the students will learn, how the lesson will be taught as well as how learning will be evaluated. Lesson plans enable teachers to function more effectively in the classroom by giving a detailed outline that they adhere to during each class. It will help us to ensure our information clear and full of knowledge.
