    Wow. Thanks. There was a big gap in my teacher education between knowing what the standards were and actually planning to meet them. I've been going it alone since the beginning. Knowing where to look for help is itself very helpful. Thanks again.

    I see alot of teachers using varying teacher resources. I rarely see teachers say here is the textbook we use and we will take the scope & sequence to lesson plan from. Out of curiosity - are schools still using textbooks that teachers utilize in the classroom? So much is online these days and it seems in my research, I have not come across one teacher talking about using textbooks for lesson planning, objectives, etc...

    This is great for new teachers! Hoping you can help...... 2 questions with difficult answers: How to teach 4th graders from the textbook and curriculum to below grade level readers (entire class reads at k, 1st grade levels)? How to prevent a lesson from taking 8 blocks instead of the 2 or 3?

    • @KathleenJasperEdD
      @KathleenJasperEdD  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Teaching below-grade-level readers can be challenging but rewarding. For 4th graders reading at K-1st grade levels, consider incorporating multi-sensory activities, small group instruction, visuals, and frequent checks for understanding. Differentiate instruction by breaking down content into smaller, more manageable chunks, and provide ample opportunities for practice and reinforcement.
      To prevent lessons from extending beyond the allocated time, prioritize essential content, streamline activities, and maintain a structured pace. Utilize effective classroom management strategies to keep students focused and on task. Flexibility is key; be prepared to adjust lesson plans based on student needs and progress. Collaborating with colleagues and seeking support from instructional coaches can also provide valuable insights and strategies for time management.

By utilizing these existing materials, we can save time and direct our energy towards meaningful student engagement. I'm curious, how have you found this approach to impact your teaching experience? Do you have any additional tips for maximizing the benefits of district resources?

      Thanks for watching. I used this method the entire time I was a teacher, so yes, they have helped my practice. Every district is different. I said thanks to very few that supported me, including some of my classmates and great Professor in college (a reading specialist). So secretive and mean people are in the system. Or they don't know whatever the heck they're doing. I felt that everyone was against me until I found you, Kathleen Jasper.
