Black Holes is from their first album, XXI Century Blood (21st Century Blood). Pau wrote the song at 13 after reading an article. She is singing it from the perspective of an addict/alcoholic. She has a tremendous ability to take inspiration from anywhere and produce great songs with deep lyrics. She wrote EVOLVE after watching a documentary on genetic manipulation and AMOUR based on a short scene in the animated movie Ratatouille.
I love Ale and Dany climbing up the drum riser to be with Pau at the crescendo of "Dull Knives (Cut Better)." Kick-ass stage presence and showmanship! :-D Epic moment of the show!
It's a simple expose of addiction. It's 13-year-old Pau reading an article about addiction and writing a tear-jerker about it. Recovering addicts say it's a very accurate emotional portrayal of the feeling of hopelessness and helplessness that accompanies the disease. Her next song, *Breathe,* is even more emotional.
All 3 sisters were classically trained on piano before they ever touched the instruments they now play. This was played with Breathe. like Dust to Dust & Dull Knives knives were played together..Good news the rest of the show is straight up one at a time..🌏✌️
Thank you guys for bringing The Warning to your channel. You make me feel as if this is the first time that I listen to these songs again. Your respect and admiration toward their music are priceless. Now I can't wait for your next reaction on breathe. 🙏🙏🙏
I second that. You two gives us some much positive enthusiastic energy - it refreshing. Thank you supporting TW in the way you react. Plus your adorable dog is a new TW fan.
“Black Holes (Don’t Hold On)” reflects a deep internal struggle, where the protagonist recognizes their self-destruction and urges others not to hold on to them, knowing they have nothing left to give. The song explores feelings of emptiness, regret, and the inability to heal from past pain. The imagery of “black holes” symbolizes the consuming darkness that swallows them whole, representing their descent into hopelessness and emotional voids. Lines like “I thought I’d won all my different battles” and “I got nothing left” show the protagonist believed they had overcome their struggles, only to realize the damage runs much deeper. This realization leads to the plea for others to let go, as the protagonist sees themselves as broken and unable to offer love or stability. The refrain of “don’t hold on” emphasizes the desire to protect others from being pulled into their personal darkness. Pau wrote this song when she was just 13, and she has shared that it is about someone struggling with addiction and the overwhelming weight of their challenges. The lyrics and metaphor of black holes capture the consuming force of their inner struggles, the shattered love, and the fading light, leaving the protagonist isolated and longing for release. In summary, “Black Holes (Don’t Hold On)” is about pushing loved ones away to protect them from the protagonist’s inner turmoil, highlighting the pain of self-awareness and the toll of addiction.
The band hadn't played "Black Holes" in concert since the Foro Didi concert in 2019. Paulina has performed it in small acoustic settings and solo for the 2024 Decididas Summit (an annual awards summit celebrating Latina women world wide for their accomplishments and influence in the Spanish speaking world) where she received a Global Award for being a positive influence in the Latina world wide community. When she received notice of the award she told her mom, "But, I'm only a drummer. The others are doctors, engineers, scientists." He mom, Monica, said, not a direct quote, her importance as a song writer and performer is a positive influence and inspiration for so many. This was a special arrangement with string orchestra because it was originally written for and performed by the band. That is why Dany said this was a special presentation of the song. Keep having fun . Though "Breathe" is a tear jerker and I've seen it so many times. Pau wrote BH after reading an article on substance abuse. Art is subjective and open to different interpretations, that is what makes a song, or poem or piece of literature unique when we can glean different meanings from them.
I love being on this journey with you guys ❤ can’t wait to see your guys’ reaction to Breathe tomorrow! It’s hard to believe they were all sick with the flu during this performance! Dany and Ale were already getting over the flu, but Pau was in the thick of it. These ladies just don’t miss!
You'll see there was method to my madness about stopping between DTD and DK. Those two were together for a reason and "Black Holes" and "Breathe" the same. Just a flow thing, that's all.
Would you believe that their writing process for all their songs starts with Pau on the piano, and they mold it into the songs we know from there? Love what you guys are putting out here! There are Hundreds of reactors on this site, and y'all do a great job setting yourself apart.
Pau was dealing with the flu (they all were actually, but I think Ale and Dany were just starting to get over it and Pau was right in the middle of it) and you can see her cough before the song. 13 year old Pau wrote 'Black Holes' after reading an article about someone dying from an overdose. The next song 'Breathe' - To my knowledge, Pau has never said what it's truly about, but the lore is that she wrote it as a way to deal with the despair/depression from the death of a close friend. They added it to the 'Error' album as a bonus track with the condition that she would never sing it in public, but this was their 10th Anniversary celebration concert so she decided to break it out and go for it.
There are a few fans who say they heard Pau say in an early interview after "Error" came out that she was suffering from panic and/or anxiety attacks. Another heard Papa Luis say in a Facebook post that it was not about a death. One of my New Year's resolutions is to track down that interview.
"Dust to Dust" and "Dull Knives (Cut Better)" are both from "Queen of the Murder Scene", a musical novel in four chapters of 3 acts each, and a prologue (D2D). The Warning lyrics can be felt differently by different people. Lil's view is not "canon", but if it works for him, then that's how it should be. The theme of "Dull Knives" is of a girl who has just murdered the boy she obsessed over. She hoped he would love her but he barely knew she existed. Now she is consumed by guilt and inflicting self harm with a "dull knife". She's well on her way to psychosis. If you can swing it, the whole album would be great for review. As far as I know there are no MV's, but there are two concerts presenting the entire album. The first was at the Lunario CDMX in 2018. You could review it song by song. There are interludes between chapters featuring songs from their first album "XXI Century Blood".
All three of them started classical piano training at around 6, and at around 7 or 8 they were asked if they wanted to learn a second instrument (while continuing piano). Being the youngest, Ale was the last to start, and within a few months they began practicing together as a band. Their first public appearance was at a school Christmas function in December 2012, just as Ale was turning 8. Dany and Pau turned 13 and 11 within a few months. Here's the song, a cover of the Kiss version of a 1973 Argent song - th-cam.com/video/C_4Lfd3R2cs/w-d-xo.html
@dalatina911 I think some people's confusion comes from not knowing how the sausage is made. We watched the entire week of reactions in one sitting. Notice how we are wearing the same clothes. We don't get together every day and watch one song. Yes, black holes and breathe were played back to back, but those songs deserve discussion on each track individually. Also, never forget you can always watch these songs "the correct way" without us. I believe we have proven we're just not going to make a certain part of this fanbase happy.
@@JustBakeChannel ohhh that makes sense! I wasn’t the one who posted the original comment. I didn’t realize you guys had been getting shit about this so much. I’m sorry, I probably shouldn’t have said anything.

All three first played piano when they started their music careers as little girls. I've even seen a video of Dany playing a saxophone at a school Christmas concert.
Hopefully when you got to the last song, you let the credits roll, and seen who did what. Lighting, Sound, post mix, direction, etc... The same team has been knocking their production videos out of the ballpark for so long, that we know them all by name. I think the only other group outside of their team that did them the same justice for an entire concert, was the Pol'and'Rock festival production staff this year. It's only 1 hr, but it's a packed bad ass 1 hr, showcasing their new material with some older songs as well. The Full production concert before Pepsi Center, was also in CDMX at the Teatro Metropolitan. That one is another 2 hr bad ass bash too, and has songs no others do, and some that are just done differently, like Paulina unleashed form her Kit, running amok on the stage! There are even more concerts too. Needless to say, if you wanted too, you could keep TW Wed's going for a long time. 🤘🌞🤘
"Breathe" will make you cry because Pau begins to cry. It's a very personal song for her. It's never been played live before. She said in an interview that the song is a panic attack set to music.
