    You just need a higher lift and it will clear without cutting

    Godd job bro, clean cut and inner fender job was smart!

    Thanks for the video, you can use a heat gun to bend the fender liner more easy

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen a few that have done this, but I honestly wasn’t a fan of how wrinkled it looked

  • @ewxlt
    @ewxlt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why add clearance to the front only to lose clearance with the side steps?

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The clearance is meant for the tires. I take the truck out a bit, but don’t exactly get extreme enough for the steps to matter much

    Crazy ,but a simple cut made the front end looks so wide . Looks great 👍🏼

    Use à heat gun to reshape fender walls

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve seen a few done that way, and I don’t think I’d be able to shape them smooth enough for my liking. They start to look kinda mushy and warped

    Like that curved cut rather than going straight across to where it meets the bumper. Definitely going to incorporate that into my cut. Nice work dude!

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Much appreciated! That combined with the trim piece really adds a more clean look

    I have the exact same wheel/tire, lift and rub in the same places as you. Pretty cool I found this video. Doing the viper cut for the front fender rub as well. Great how to vid. Did you end up doing any trimming to the back of the front fenders? Cmc? Alignment tweak? Mine also rubs on the back of the driver side. Especially when reversing on turn.

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This bumper cut is actually the only cutting I had to do. I very rarely rub on the cab mount at full lock, in reverse, if I hit a bump, but it doesn’t happen often enough for me to do anything about it lol

  • @bl8ckout1027
    @bl8ckout1027 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks great! I’m getting ready to do this myself. QUESTION…do your black fenders flap or feel flimsy by cutting 2-3/4in above the bottom bolt?

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a bunch! To answer your question, if it’s not too late, or for any others reading this, it may feel very slightly loose, but only if you’re intentionally moving it. I would say far from flimsy or enough to flap

  • @jaredscott547
    @jaredscott547 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    What did you use the trace the curve on your tape?

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually just bent the edge trim the same way it would be bent when mounted, to see how sharp of a turn it would be able to make, then used that as the guide for the curve

    What kind of rim and tire is that?

  • @commonintel
    @commonintel 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    have you done anything to mitigate the rubbing at the rear of the tire? I get rubbing on BR6's with a -38 offset

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t, just because the rubbing hasn’t really been bad enough for me. I more than likely would’ve had to do the cab mount chop by now if I had the -38 offset BR6s though

  • @thomasalexander5398

    That's called a scorpion cut!

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen scorpion cut, viper cut, and a couple other names. Figured I’d keep it simple with bumper cut lol

    Sick truck man. I just got my BR6 wheels! I love them. I have 285/75/R16. Still stock suspension, but ill be adding a new lift in a few days!

    Nice cut! What’s your offset? You have UCA’s? I’m looking into 285’s soon with a 17inch wheel too

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a bunch! These are the 8.5s with a -10mm offset. I still have stock UCAs, just on bilstein 5100s with stock springs

  • @bradkuznik3940
    @bradkuznik3940 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Craig it looks great! Like how you didn’t cut the inner protective plastic underneath, but kept it. What trim would you recommend for the edges?

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Brad! That part was essential to me to keep it looking nicer and easier to clean. I don’t have the link, but I show it at the 2:10 mark in the video. I got it from my local O’Reillys

  • @geronimoguzman290
    @geronimoguzman290 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I may or may not do this to mine just to hold off all the rubbing until I get my front bumper lol come do mine! You in GA lol

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was exactly my thought, knowing that it will probably be a good while before I get a bumper!
      I’m a good bit away, in south TX lol

  • @vr812
    @vr812 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice truck! I’m interested on a Bilstein lift also. Did you use your stock coil/spring? And did you do the top rung on the Bilstein 5100? How’s the ride quality?

    • @craigguttierez5967
      @craigguttierez5967  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      vr812 thank you! Yes, I used the stock spring on the top setting on the shocks. It’s stiffer and I actually love it, just because I wasn’t too fond of the nose dive when braking.

    Stop hacking up your trucks. Lifts aren't that expensive.
