Frankie had three stages of a career. The original Four Seasons are in the Hall of Fame with songs like Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Rag Doll, and Dawn. Then he did solo stuff with hits like My Eyes Adored You and Can't Take My Eyes Off of You. To this day he tours as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with hits like December 1963 (Oh What a Night). Sheer talent and dedication to craft has led to almost thirty top 20 hits.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons "Beggin" (1967). It was 54 years ago, when this song first came out. And yes, Mel they are the originators of this song. You and Shawn were not the only ones who did not know.
After this song became a huge hit again in (2007) by Madcon for the movie "Step Up 3."
The Four Seasons version once again became a big hit.
Going down the rabbit hole that is "The Four Season." Is going to be well worth it. Love your reaction. Awesome!

How did they sound so good? In the '50s popularity was based on talent. They weren't just taking a pretty face and trying to make him or her a star with gimmicks, dancers, light shows, fashion, etc. What you're hearing is authentic music.

    • @Gutslinger
      @Gutslinger ปีที่แล้ว +3

I think there's an abundance of talent today. Just no creativity or uniqueness.. And a big part of that is because record and radio companies had control of what people could listen to for so long, and they eventually started creating models and artists to follow trends. Which is why a lot of music and artists today sounds bland and repetitive.
They don't find talent anymore.. They try to artificially create it in their pre-planned cookie cutter molds.

this wasnt from the 50s. Its from 1967. still well over 50 years. listen to this and what you are hearing is Bob Guadio and Bob Crewe and the fourr seasons version of the Motown sound. 10 out of 10. Although not as famous as Brian Wilson or Phil Spector, Bob Gaudio remains one of the most talented Record Producers of all time, and sadly many do not even know his name or just how much great music he produced. The same goes for the songwriter singer and Producer and musical Partner Bob Crewe who wrote and sang on most of the four seasons, frank Vallli and many others hits.

Keep in mind the Four Seasons are one of the first bands to write the majority of their own songs and play their own instruments. One last fun fact, they are the only band to have a number one ☝️ record before, during and after the Beatles. No other Band can claim that musical achievement, now or ever.

"Working My Way Back To You" popularised by the Detroit Spinners was also originally done by The Four Seasons.
I prefer the Detroit Spinners' version though.

Uptown girl by billy Joel was paying homage to the Four seasons Sound. Other groups when the Four seasons started out tried to capitalize on their sound-one such group was Randy & The Rainbows and their hit song Denise.

How about reacting to Good Loving by The Young Rascals. I like the Ed Sullivan Show performance. Loving your reactions. Good work.

My fav. song "Step By Step", song by The Crests; 1960. Be sure to watch the movie, American Graffiti; great insight to "how it was", back in my day. The movie from original scenes in Modesto, Stockton and Fresno CA, my ole stompin' grounds. The actual movie shot in Petaluma CA. Yeah, those were the days!!! Enjoy, love you guys; my fav. channel, hands down. Here's the link for the song: th-cam.com/video/7DhevKN-p9k/w-d-xo.html

Shawn, you asked "how do they sound that good compared to the singers today". Well, the answer is simple. TALENT!!
The so called "singers" of today have absolutely NO TALENT. They have all of this electronic BULLSH#T and other stuff to " cover up" their lack of talent. Give me the 60's/70's/80's music any day over this Bullsh#t they call "music" today.

I read somewhere that Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons are the only group in history to have an original song reach #1 before, during, and after The Beatles. Awesome group as the world knows, but under-appreciated in my generation which is frustrating.
Jersey Boys movie that tells these guys’ story should have gotten as much attention & accolades as Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman at LEAST.
